It all started from RAID shadow legends and some kids might just download it thinking it's a good game as it's much more visible by their favorite youtubers. I'm white(As it very important to be mentioned) gamer and I'm absolutely fine with black characters in right places, for example the TES series where redguards are one of my favourite races with their place in lore. I don't like when companies add different races where it shouldn't be, like for example we can mention a GoW:R there weren't any black characters in mythology like obviously there aren't asians in African mythologies. If they want so much diversity they shouldn't insert traits of one culture in other, I'm still waiting for big game based on some African mythology because their culture and folklore just unknown for me, I'm hella sure that majority of gamers would love to play game like GoW set in non European centric view, there are so many stories waiting to be discovered from all over the world but devs keep concentrating in recreating what we all already know about and messing up everything just to make "everyone" happy when in fact no one cares afterwards

Very good question. I understand that sometimes you need a connection to update/patch it, but a single game as by itself should be able to be played without internet. What if, for example, I want to play it during a long haul flight?

We're witnessing a repeat of the '84 Video Games Industry Crash. Too many big companies built their business models on unsustainable practices like ESG and constant monetization. Now it's all falling apart.
Yup agreed. I was a little kid when it happened before and said this as soon as MTX became popular back at the very end of Gen 7 (after Horse Armor backlash). MTX carry about 50% of total industry profits. It's price gouging for lower quality. Live services and other monetized trash with low quality stories and characters have FLOODED the industry at high pricing. SAME things that killed gaming back in the 80s for a bit until NES/SMS revitalized it with top tier quality.
There are enough good games that you do not need to buy any game with a cash shop. AAA games is so big they think they need cash shops to afford their employees yet indie devs can make pretty much the same game now and not need a cash shop to become massively rich. Someone just now needs to build a Console that only supports games without a cash shop and has an upgrade-able graphics card. See how that sells.
You all have been saying that for almost ten years now and it hasn't happened. It's not going to happen. Look at what Helldivers, Dragon's Dogma, and Final Fantasy VII have managed to accomplish. There is no crash - you're just being delusional about how the industry works.

How many people had a problem with lesbian and homosexual romances in Bioware games, back when those were good, who had a problem with inclusive characters, as long as they were good, or female protagonists as long as they were written like actual people, not pseudo-feminist platforms?
Most gamers won't have a problem with a great character who happens to be gay, or a great action hero who happens to be female. It's the wrong approach, to let the social agenda take precedence before actual characterization and the quality of story and gameplay, that makes people angry.
The vast majority of gamers aren't intolerant, ultra-conservatives, they are just tired of being told what to enjoy, what to think, what to say, what type of character to like etc..
The problem is, when you are being derided and insulted for years, if the people who only have jobs because you spend money on their products and time on their sites, have nothing but scorn for you, while the bosses see you as walking wallets, this creates a lot of emotional backlash, and it makes you more and more sensitive to certain things.
In this case, many people react very sensitive to anything that appears to be political messaging in bad games, games which they think might have been better, if the concentration wasn't on monetization and on forcing messages down their throats, whether they would normally agree with them or not.
And frankly speaking, as long as the only reaction to the growing frustration is, to declare everyone disagreeing with their positions to be a racist, homo- and trans-phobic, bigoted idiot, this will only get worse.
It's very easy to just condemn everyone who doesn't see things the same way you do as someone terrible, but apart from feeling morally superior (which is really worth nothing in this case, because the other side sees themselves the same way) nothing is gained by it. It just antagonizes both sides further.

I'm shocked I am still hearing about the flag thing involving Helldivers 2. In Helldivers 2 the lore is that there is ONE nation UNDIVIDED under ONE flag. SUPER EARTH. Not Super America. Not Super Guam. SUPER EARTH. The ONLY flag that matters to SUPER EARTH is THE flag. The only flag. Hence why we will NEVER see ANY flags of any kind implemented that isn't SUPER EARTH. The game is HEAVY on the immersion even when the game has a glitch they turn it into a reference in-game. Either way no game HAS to have ANY form of representation. If that bothers someone then they can find another game to play that does.
Every patch that gets released for Helldivers 2 on Steam, the majority of comments are of certain people demanding LGBTQ stuff, even a few demanding furry themed stuff. And while I'm not entirely sure if either of those things are people just being sarcastic, or meme-ing, but it's certainly annoying nonetheless. I go to these patch discussions to report any issues, or see if anyone else reported them, and it's just filled with toxic people going back and forth about LGBTQ stuff. I can't imagine how frustrating it must be for the community managers/moderators to try and get actual info back from the serious people in the community.

I believe the CEO's motto is "A Game for Everyone is a Game for No one." In other words, trying to appease everyone just doesn't work out the way you expect, or want. It's just not feasible to make everyone happy, so taking the middle line and making the game the way you *actually* want to make is the best way to go, or rather make a game with no affiliation or virtue signaling behind it.

Granted, no game is going to be 100% bug-free on release simply because developers can't account for every little detail, but as far as I'm aware, Square is one of the few well-known studios that dont ship out broken games.

Diablo 3 was the first time their facade started to crack, when they added that real money trading house and skewed the drop rates to basically force you to use it. And of course when they popularized Lootboxes with Overwatch. Of course Lootboxes had happened here and there before, but it wasn't until Overwatch when people said that "It's ok because it's Blizzard and Blizzard is the good guys" to defend Lootboxes in full price AAA games. And after that everyone else could do it too
@@EskChan19 It was before Diablo 3 when they made it possible to pay for mounts in WoW. They became incredibly greedy and the original lead developer left and they became Blizzard South. It was so obvious it would get worse.
In this case it is noteworthy because they have completely backtracked on a mode that was supposed to be prominent. Instead they're not doing it at all. That's bad because the PVE in OW2 was one of the selling points. EA did this with Battlefield 5. I pre-ordered that game and got early access only to find out on launch day that the coop mode wasn't releasing for another 4 months after launch. I will never buy another Battlefield game.

In defense of Dragons Dogma 2, many of the players hating it have not played the first game where they'd get used to a lot of the legacy mechanics used in the newer game. There's mtx to help sort of skate around this but the mtx is not remotely p2w and you are paying an inflated rate for these items that you can easily purchase or find in the base game. We're just over a week since release and there's already plenty of videos on the best farming locations, dungeons, gear, weapons, and best ways to earn money and with all of that there's no need for the mtx, it literally only exists for the lazy players trying to speed-run the game in the hardest way possible

I’ve noticed, since I stopped paying attention to games releasing, I only find the good games. Like Helldivers 2: I didn’t know anything about it until a couple weeks after release when everyone was saying how great it was. That’s how devs are getting my money from now on.

I'm kinda torn. I do not mind diversity and inclusivity, I mind when it's done badly and seems forced and doesn't seem to fit into the world of the game.
You can make a diverse Witcher game with a good story and with characters which make sense if you want to and work hard on it.
I think CDPR can very well do it, the only question is, if they will put in the effort or just go the by now normal approach of just throwing in a bunch of LGBTQ+ and non-white characters to appease the new standards, no matter how out of place and bad they are.

Arrowhead is absolutely right - while being LGBTQ+ is not politics, LGBTQ+ "activism" certainly is, and should not have any place in the game. We are all equal in the eyes of managed democracy and it should stay that way.
Personally, between incomplete games being released at full price, micro-transactions, and the ESG disease running rampant, I'm done buying games on their release dates. It's easy enough to wait two or three months, watch some gameplay and read the reviews, THEN decide if it's worth my time and money.

Capcom is against mods because they can "fix" their games. The fact you couldn't start a new game even by deleting your own save was a huge problem with the game, which kept being an 8 out of 10 game. The microtransactions if they are useless, why are they even there unless they want people to waste their money on something they could earn quickly in game?

You can start a new save. You disable the cloud by going offline, delete your save file, start a new game and then go back online.

I'm a simple gamer. If a game looks good then I'll get it... roughly 6 ish months from launch *if* they don't actively go against the grain of what the mainstream wants pushed.
Games like Helldivers 2 that not only actively rejects injecting something from the mainstream but also develops something that respects the spirit of why gamers game while being something I enjoy will lead me to potentially buying it a month post launch.
The microtransactions in Dragons Dogma 2 don't affect the balance, just like the microtransactions in Devil May Cry 5, which had a similar backlash wave from people who saw a big list of DLC and didn't actually play the game. The only way you would know those microtransations are available is if you look on the Steam DLC tab, they are not pushed on you in-game in any way, and everything they're selling can be acquired by playing the game, and not at ridiculously expensive prices or anything like that. Very overblown fake controversy. The game is actually really good, performance issues aside. It doesn't deserve to be lumped in with the likes of Ubisoft.
