- 99% of the vinyl I use on my channel is Specialty Materials Brands I have tried many kinds over the years, and they are my absolute favorite. The quality is top-notch, I have a video where I wash a shirt 50 times, and the vinyl still looks brand new. • Thermoflex vs. Siser: ... They have the most extensive range of products and colors around ( there are over 90 colors in the ThermoFlex Plus and GlitterFlex Ultra lines alone). They also offer free product samples on their website, which you don’t see anymore. Trust me, request a sample because if you try it, you will know why I love it.

Just a suggestion: use a smaller brush to fill the crack in the wood (just for the H) so it connects all the way across and doesn't look like two i's

I agree
Glad I found you! Helpful tutorial for a newbie! Making a Texas theme kid for our BBQ pit. Shout out from Shepherd, TX
Thank you for taking the time to share your idea...I really enjoyed learning about these signs I see everywhere...now I can make my own ;-)
Glad I came across your video it’s the only one I’ve seen where they are actually painting the letters etc.
I miss home! Pretty girl Texas Accent, Saturday football and smoker goin.....oh....and Sir George playin in the back ground! I'm about Fix'in to jump in my car and head back HOME (Central Texas). Good job on the sign!!!
You amaze me, you can do EVERYTHING vinyl. I so enjoy your videos!
I like your videos and I’m also from Texas. I do have a suggestion and I’m sure you just did it that way so it’s was just one take but I would let it fully dry before peeling the stencil off so you don’t have to be extra careful from getting wet paint on the rest of the board. Again nice video.
Hi great Vlog. Exceedingly good Home Sign. I love White letterinv, looks so good.x
I'm so new to this, but instead of wasting the letters, couldn't you keep them too and do another sign with them?
cmfnjaf07 - nope. It’s vinyl.
It’s what she’s using as a stencil.
Thank you for the video, it is a very nice project. I really wish people would just take the positive things and leave all of the negative comments to themselves. I appreciate you taking the time to share.
Hello Texas! I am from Arlington. Loved your video!
I think it turned out really cute
Enjoyed your video. Trying to make a few signs in the future for gifts. Thank you
Great tutorial....I wanted to learn how to stencil...You make look so easy!!!
Thank you for taking the time and showing this. It helps a lot.
Hi! Do you recommend removing the vinyl when the paint is still wet? I would have thought to keep it on until the paint is dry but I haven’t done this before so not sure if there’s a benefit to removing it when wet. Thank you!!
Hi mam
I am doing some DIY work for my home. I am using acrylic colour on pine wood items. But finishing is not coming out that great. I have seen your products and the finishing is awesome. Are you also using acrylic colors or any other type of paints?
I have seen online that water based latex paints or oil based enamel paints can also be used for the same. But I am not sure. Can you please help me out. Thanks in advance.
Your good at this
This may be a dumb question but I noticed you didn't wait till the paint was dry to peel the stuff back or did you just do that for video purposes? I'm new to this whole thing and your videos are helping so much!
I'm sure you know this already, but you have to peel the stencil off while the paint is still wet so you don't peel the paint off the design.
If the paint dries to the stencil
Removing the stencil could pull up the paint.
Thank you for asking! I wondered the same thing.
I love this , you make it look so easy ! I will try this . Thank you .
Super cute! I want to make this!
And another easy way to remove is get the weeder, that comes with all the different cricut.
Is it me or is it missing the line that goes on the H?
desire booke nunez it's not it's just how it fell on the board
Or it is how it fell OFF the board :-)
I'm with you. I think it needs the line there. Even if it covers the crack in the board I would still add the white line.
It still looks nice tho
I would add a thin line on both sides of the crack. It draws your eye in to see the missing line. Great project.
Did you seal your board before sticking the stencil on it? I have seen most of people use the 631, and I am amazed that the 651 you used didn't peel off the base paint 🤔
would it be better if you made the stencil using card board? that way you can re use it. just maybe use tapes or pins on the corners to keep it steady?
Did you coat your sign with any protective wax after the "HOME" paint dried? I'm guessing it was going to be hung outside, right?
What about the two lines on the H and the E on the home sign
How long did you let the pallet dry before applying the stencil and metallic paint? I want to start making these but don't want to pull the paint off the wood. Awesome video!
seems like more work then just having a stencil already made to place on the wood. I also would have waited a bit for the white to dry before removing the stencil also, would have used a Q-Tip to remove the mistakes. But that's just because Im a perfectionist and I cant help it lol. Otherwise nice job!!
I can make this stencil by hands just like Arabian art, and that can be used at least 10 times.
anyone want to share some tips with me on my what's app please +923026037506
New at this and I love your videos especially since I am from Texas also!
Cool technique 😀
Love it! What font style did you use?
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 Love the sign
Great idea! I'm going to HL tomorrow hopefully they have one similar to this
wouldnt you think to have it Dry first before you Remove any thing, and also what do you do if you dont have a cutter or a Cricket to cut out any letters >????
Patty J You don’t let it dry because if you do, it pulls up parts of the letters. Always pull up your stencil while it’s wet.
I love it! Thanks for the video
Thanks for your video!
Cute- but you should add a sealant. I make my own boards but I hand paint with chalk but still to prevent chipping.
Julia Geuther what sealer do you use? Thanks
nice work , i just paint my dresser with oil paint it look a mess what type of paint can i use to draw on it?
See I can do all of that! I just get mixed up w/ how u get ur Texas State sign? I couldn’t find one on my Cricut App?
I’m having problem w/ using the app? Of knowing what to do? Or not to do?
If so I’d be good to go! But I love the project and I love that color of paint, that’s my fav color
I love adsouly a bore and this one I not a true Texan but I got here as soon as I could. So yes love love love it.
I would have used stencil vinyl, that way you can re-use it. and it is not as tacky.
I wasn't making any more and I like it sticky so I don't have to worry about my lines being clean. There are many ways to do it. (this is just the way I like). but stencil vinyl is a great product just not one I use that often.
It doesn't look tacky at all. It looks amazing.
What is the name of the font you used?
I loved that! Just subscribed. Can't wait to checkout your other videos. Thank you so very much.
Very good tutorial ! What font is that?
Beautiful
Did you use any kind of vinyl? I’m new to Cricut and am assuming there’s a setting in the software and on the machine for different materials?
You left out a lot of information. Where did you get the letters "home" from? Did you buy them or create them yourself? What type of pen are you using to lift the vinyl off. I also wanted to see how you painted your wood. Other than that, nice job.
Do you do your own vinyl? And do you recommend a certain machine or printer?
is there a difference or reason you chose the paint you have? Is it different than acrylic paints?
What did you mean when you said that you "dry" rubbed black over the painted sign? I love the way it came out!
Like feather weather.
Great tutorial for a simple stencil, but my question is, would there be a good way to keep the paint from bleeding at the gaps in the pallet sign? A lot of the comments here are focused on the H missing the line, but all I noticed were the paint bleeds inside the gaps. Would it be good to tape that area off or would it still bleed? Painters tape maybe?
Mod Podge seals and prevents paint bleeds
Can something else be used in place of vinyl for the stencil? Don't want to waste vinyl lol
Love this!!!
Will your stencil not pull paint off the board when you remove it?
Can you show a tutorial on using canvas? Thanks
Can you list all the stuff you use for the project?? Thank you
you mention that it works on canvas. I tried it but the paint always bleeds
A very light coat of Mod Podge over your stencil, letting it dry before painting, should seal your stencil and prevent bleeding.
Thanks. No it's on a table turntable. Do you know if spray modge podge
I have the same pallet and i just put wood stain on so do i need to put mod podge on it also before i put the vinyl cause i have had to much bleed through
Isn't transfer Paper cheaper than vinyl? Why not just cut the wording on transfer Paper?
Do you have to seal it after removing the vinyl?
Why not save those letters for another project? Why crumble and throw away?
why didn't you let it dry a little?
Yes, where do we find the vinyl letters of the sayings we want??? You have to have a pricey machine to print them!
You can print your saying off on cardstock and, if you have great patience and a craft knife, make your own stencil. Or transfer the saying with chalk or carbon paper, then trace with paint - again, this takes great patience (ask me how I know). I don't have a machine either, but have made a couple signs of my own using the methods I picked up from others (minus the cardstock).
Love this thank you
Why wouldn't u put the cross on the middle of the letter H
I’m confused. I thought you use the 631 vinyl for the temporary stencil?
Al N I always use 651 with no issues
Cuttin Corners Vinyl have you tried a second coat of paint before removing it? If so, does it turn out okay without any bleeding?
IITXME??
How long does it take for the paint to dry?
Can you tell me the steps I would have to do to remove the paint off the palette?
what machine do you use?
thank you very much for this video i learned a lot from it i am ad from the netherlands vlissingen in europe
What kind of paint? how long you wait for it to dry?
How do you prep the wood ; i tried a sign and paint came off with transfer tape .
I am new to this, how did you trace the stencil to the mat. I need to see from the beginning how you did that.
Where and how do you get the stencil?
Awesome video! I tried painting a wooden sign, but my painted letters started lifting away when I pulled up the vinyl. I used modpodge and acrylic paint. Do you know what causes this?
Did you pull the vinyl when the paint was dry?
Yes, I waited about 20 mins to start peeling the vinyl, and the paint was dry. I used a thin font, and the painted letters kept cracking off when I removed the vinyl.
Do you recommend a place to get a stencil like the one you used?
do you seal it when you are done?
would the 631 vinyl work better than the 651, or is there that big of a difference?
Any advice for peeling paint?
More specifically... I stained the wood, placed the vinyl wording outline on (wanted the letters white, on stained wood, similar to what you did here). Painted mod podge in order to avoid the bleeding. Then painted in the white over the mod podge letters. Let it dry then went to peel up the vinyl and the paint came up completely! Gaa!! How do you avoid this?
Angela LaFontaine You have to pull the stencil off while the paint is still wet. This way the paint isn't drying connected to the paint that's on the stencil.
I’m new to this and haven’t purchased supplies. Can you tell me what you used so I can purchase them
You would need a vinyl cutter (silhouette, cricut, etc), oracal 651 (or any other vinyl), contact paper and weeding tools!
Try doing this without your vinyl cutter.
What weeding tool do you use?
I got major anxiety when you removed the vinyl 😥😩
Sandra Ruiz me too 😂
i know... just yank it already jeeeeez
Lol!! 🤣
Could you please tell me if I am putting vinly onto a piece of painted wood should I seal it? Can I use spray Modge Podge sealer or adhesive spray? TIA
If your using it outside yes.
Thanks. Do you know if spray modge podge sealer equal to Clear Coat?
Is it just a "rule" that you don't want to scrape the vinyl down too much? my mind just want to go to town with the scraper and REALLLLLLY go over it all.
You will stretch the vinyl if you press down to hard with the squeege
Were do u get your stencils from
I have a question if your layering do you do everything the same color of paint
What do you mean?

Love it! How'd you get the heart in the state?
I’m guessing she made it in a program on her computer. If you have a cricut machine there’s a program called design space that you could make something like this.
Hi where do you buy the vinyl please. I a. International
How would I get just the outline as you did
Tips for making a sign that is longer than the 24" mat?
I stained the wood and then want the wording in white.
Angela LaFontaine I also wonder about this. Also if you're doing a vertical sign, do you have to cut apart the pieces and do letters individually?
If it is longer than you would just have to find a good breaking point & have the second half cut on a separate paper. Unless you have the roller feeder & a longer roll of the vinyl. Hope this helps.
Angela LaFontaine tape the longer mats together. You can change sizing in the program.
Nicole Singleton oh my gosh how friggin smart!!! Girl THANK YOU! Seems simple now you said it but just something that completely never occurred to me! You rock!
You don't wait til its dry before peeling off the vinyl?
You'll get a softer line when you peel it wet. A more crisp line when it's dry. My fiancé paints fire trucks and cars and I paint canvases and wood :)
I've used stencil vinyl and it doesn't stick to the wood - if the wood is either bit rough! What's your solution?
Tanea Hynes what type of vinyl are you using?
I have the same issue and I use cricut’s vinyl. Would putting a layer of mod podge matte on it help the vinyl stay in place?
Have you done any designs using 12" x 12" ceramic tile?
April Anthony yes I have what are you interested in seeing?
Some much wastage of materials, you could easily make reusable stencils. Plus use materials that people are throwing away.
I must use too much paint I always get bleeds
What does that decal call?
