      Don’t give up on this one. Think you should redesign it with a high wing with one full length spar and wing struts to help hold the weight of the car and thrust of the motors! The way those wings were attached the weight carried by the wings had too much leverage on the point where it attached to the car causing them to fold up. I think a high wing would be lighter since more of the wing would be a lifting surface.

    • @ResortDog

      Did it occur to you to maybe use a stronger material than the box it came in for the wings?

    First step: Pick a random thing (preferably something that never meant to fly).
    Second step: Put wings on it.
    Third step: FLY IT!
    Last step: Crash it instead of landing it so it is even more epic.
    That's the Flite Test spirit.
    I love you guys.

  • @Wearyman

    If the wings had been a bit bigger and had used stronger structural materials, that thing would have stayed up. But the weight was just too much for foamboard. Even Flite Test super foamboard. EDIT: Also, Kozy-Coop Multi-copter! IT MUST HAPPEN!

    • @Parabueto
      @Parabueto 6 лет назад +4

      Well the foamboard would be fine as long as the spars and supports were up to par. At this scale it's just the covering to make the aerofoil really. You could make wings out of balsa and doped fabric and it would fly just as well but even more delicate :P
      I agree it needed it be a tad bigger though.

      If there had been a secondary spar across the top of the yellow roof the structural integrity would have been far better without adding too much weight.

    • @joewilson2258
      @joewilson2258 6 лет назад

      Support struts would have helped the wings from folding up . from what I seen the tail section should have been farther back and at an angle as put the wings at a greater angle of attack

    Hilarious! Love this video. When I was about 10 I started mowing the grass and used to think how cool it would be to build a mini aircraft with lawn mower engines. Of course it would never work because of the weight to thrust ratio, so it was cool to see this video.

    Add a center support bar to connect each wing together across the middle. That would keep the wings from folding up. A piece of carbon fiber pipe would work. Hopefully it will fly again. I want to see a full lap and maybe some flips.
