When you listen to people like Nolan Taylor, Tyler Childers, Zach Bryan, Chris Huntt Jr, Oliver Anthony, Benjamin Tod, Layne Staley (had to throw grunge in) you are actually listening to people connecting with their music. You can't fake authenticity.
i am a 59 year old canadian boomer. grew up free, building tree forts, fishing with my family, picnics at the beach, camping, cabin-ing, learning to water ski, summers spent on my aunts and uncles farms in saskatchewan, learning to milk cows, weeding gardens, seeing where our food comes from, from birth to harvest. such a wonderful life i had. i have bought 3 songs in the last decade, or more: jason aldean's not in my small town, and oliver's rich men north of richmond, last week, and then this, last night. there is a renaissance happening. a pendulum swinging back. and they are afraid. we are not, because we always knew we were right (and that is not a reference to any political affiliation). ty again, rhn, for this. and of course, to oliver. we have been blessed, again.

I pray for this man every night. He speaks the truth and he speaks from the heart. When he sings it goes straight to my heart. I am 53 years old now and I have watched this country decline so much. The younger people may not understand that statement, but like they say, if ya know ya know. They have taken God out of everything and they have taken the family structure away and replaced it with technology. That technology lets them know what you search, what you say and basically what you think. I actually miss the days when if you wanted to see someone, you had to go and actually see them and not just turn on the computer or an app on your phone. The way we knew if someone was at home is if they answered their home phone lol. I am so happy he is bringing real meaningful music back. Being an ex addict, I get where his painful lyrics are coming from, for I lost many friends too early in life and had my own major trials and tribulations. Music is powerful and Oliver has a real knack of being able to touch the soul with it. When I came to the Lord, He broke the power of everything that held me as a slave and although I'm not a musician, and live out in the forests and hills of North East Ontario, Canada, I use the gospel in the streets of Toronto on the weekends (as well as RUclips) to reach the lost. I'm glad you're doing these reactions.

Christopher ("Oliver") just put to music how I have been feeling for the past 4 years. When I was misdiagnosed with a rare type of cancer three years ago and expected to die, I felt peace for the first time in ages and was relieved. When I learned six weeks later that I had been misdiagnosed I was almost disappointed; I am so ready to go home, but I guess the Lord has other plans for me for now. Bless you.

My heart is breaking what's happening in my county in Maryland with all the farmers selling out to big business. The trees are getting cut down, and huge warehouses with concrete are replacing them. The sad reality is very few are filled with tenants and sit empty! We all just scratch our heads and wonder why this has happened. It's devaluing people's properties close by and they no longer have the country view they sought after. These lyrics brought me to tears.

I grew up in the 1960s &1970s so I've seen a lot. I was 6 months old when JFK was assassinated. I remember watching the 6:00pm news about the war in Vietnam. Water gate, Nixon's attempted assassination. Ya-da,ya-da. I've been half way around the world and back again. I've seen and done things most can only dream of. Yet I look around and see what the world has become and it makes me feel the same. When I was 18 I had a near death experience. And from that I learned a lot. God doesn't barter,and he don't make deals. I lost my fear of death. The next time death comes knocking on my door, I'll welcome him as a old friend come to take me home.

Christopher Lunsford (AKA Oliver Anthony) lives in Farmville, Virginia about 20 minutes from me. He has performed in some local venues, but I am SO glad the rest of the world gets to hear him now. He has had a tough life, but he owns a small farm now, and he is a devout Christian - if you hear him live you will hear him read from the Bible - he is the real deal. Hits message is FIRE. We all need to stop pointing fingers and blaming each other, and all join together to engage the real enemy - the Rich men north of Richmond.
One of the saddest things with the lyrics, particularly the concrete reference is it's been happening for 40 years and probably more and isn't about to stop. It's probably now reached a time when it's much more profitable for a farmer to sell his land than for what he can earn farming it with the costs involved which is very sad.
For those of us who have been at rock bottom, we know everyone else slips away & leaves you to rot in misery. You find yourself with only your pets & God to listen to you. When I was in a low spot I tended to get out into the woods to let out emotions. Dogs tend to pick up on cues from you. If you're happy, they're happy. If you're anxious, they're anxious. The last thing I wanted was to shed tears & make my dogs sad on top of that. The head shrinker would probably say that's a hallmark of an avoidant attachment style, not wanting to put yourself & your issues on someone else. It isn't a new song, but Tyler Farr's "I Wish Dogs Could Live Forever" is another good one about who is really there for you when the chips are down.

Oh Arizona is that right now. Everyone has abandoned LA California and it looks like they didn't want to go far. A very unelectable Katie Hobbs is in charge and what was once a beautiful desert is changing into concrete Logistic centers and chicken coop apartment cities. Nothing affordable. Homes triple in price, apartments 4 times what they used to be in rent. Incomes? They haven't gone up noticeably. Yeah, Arizona is gone now.

One of the saddest things with the lyrics, particularly the concrete reference is it's been happening for 40 years and probably more and isn't about to stop. It's probably now reached a time when it's much more profitable for a farmer to sell his land than for what he can earn farming it with the costs involved which is very sad.

For those of us who have been at rock bottom, we know everyone else slips away & leaves you to rot in misery. You find yourself with only your pets & God to listen to you.
When I was in a low spot I tended to get out into the woods to let out emotions. Dogs tend to pick up on cues from you. If you're happy, they're happy. If you're anxious, they're anxious. The last thing I wanted was to shed tears & make my dogs sad on top of that. The head shrinker would probably say that's a hallmark of an avoidant attachment style, not wanting to put yourself & your issues on someone else.
It isn't a new song, but Tyler Farr's "I Wish Dogs Could Live Forever" is another good one about who is really there for you when the chips are down.

Oh Arizona is that right now. Everyone has abandoned LA California and it looks like they didn't want to go far. A very unelectable Katie Hobbs is in charge and what was once a beautiful desert is changing into concrete Logistic centers and chicken coop apartment cities. Nothing affordable.
