I got lucky....42yrs ago I was lucky enough to marry my best friend. I was in the Navy at the time, and nothing made coming home from a long deployment as sweet as seeing her smiling face waiting on me on the pier. I now drive a truck, and even after 4 kids and 42 yrs, I still get that same feeling when I get home off the road and see my Darlin' sitting on the tailgate of my own '95 Chevy Silverado waiting on me to climb down out of that Peterbilt. We might not have much, but we got all we need.

Pretty decent song. The "poor white trash/Carter Cash" stanza is a bar for sure. There are definitely more interesting visuals in this video. The winding country road---could be a driveway. The dogs cooling off in the creek. The pistol mounted in the truck console. All very familiar images to me.

My 1993 k2500 454 Suburban blew the trans 2 years ago. I've kept putting off the trans rebuild because I really grenaded it (my own fault). look up 642 lichfield road, Columbus GA 31904 ... that's where I grew up, and we had a creek right by the house that we'd play in all the time, and the chattahoochee river was nearby for fishing near lake oliver dam. ...trust me when you see a country boy and you're from the country.. you'll know.
My go-to names for my wife are "chickadee" "sweetpea" "Darlin' " and "babe" When I am upset it is usually her first name. I don't have the guts to try her full name. When I first moved to New Jersey "sweetheart" was often used in general. I got away with a lot back then with the heavy Southern accent, now it ain't so heavy until I talk to someone on the phone back home or go visit then it comes back full force.

I told my wife to just keep feeding the squirrels, I'll plant the vegetables and the world will keep goin' round. In my Southern accent. She called Grandma to snitch on me on speakerphone in the hopes that she would get on me. Grandma told her to listen to me 'cause he grew up in situations that were survived because of the skills that were handed down. Granted we never had to eat a squirrel, but we had fresh veggies, and I thought outside the box when grocery shopping. Funny how nobody bought whole turkeys, hams, or whole tenderloins. I knew of local farms that had fresh eggs, and I taught my wife how to make butter. I talked to Grandma often during that time because 1 I was home, 2 she was always calling to check on us, and 3 I needed some recipes she had. So for the entire time, there is my southern accent hot and heavy. So heavy in fact my wife picked it up and still does it sometimes to this day.

And yes 6th December 1941 ( Battle of Britain 1940 ) is a reference to Pearl Harbour Bravo 👏 you knew. Bet she didn't. Their stationed in Britain I've seen a few of their videos, very nice .but she hasn't thought about the sensitivity of the Battle of Britain. To most British people. That happened to me, if I talked to family or started talking about/ eating southern food. Still, when I’m tired the accent turns into cornbread.

She couldn't even get the name Right she kept referring to The Battle of the Britain. Her husband corrected several times. And yes 6th December 1941 ( Battle of Britain 1940 ) is a reference to Pearl Harbour Bravo 👏 you knew. Bet she didn't. Their stationed in Britain I've seen a few of their videos, very nice .but she hasn't thought about the sensitivity of the Battle of Britain. To most British people. Of my age .It was really the Last stand .
