Paused at 15:29.. wondering when Rogers gonna build the ladder to get into the tray...😂
Hahaha brilliant
i love this Roger dude, but he is selling out his soul selling this Abacus crap . It's abysmal ... Those traps ! Ahhhh, and the moody o-ring seals on the shower drain...
The craftsmanship that went into that is second to none ! tradesmen like you should be well and truly respected ! as being an ex carpet fitter i have the same values !
Beautifully done my friend and I am not a plumber or builder. Awsome
I find these captivating... the workmanship.... the mood music...
I changed out the shower in my sons room for Elements board even though I was using shower panels. The soundtrack was mainly swearing.
Hello , been tiling for a few year's, little tip when installing the floor panels use the back of your trowel/ straight edge not notched to key in thinset /tile adhesive then with the notch side have all you notch lines in thinset going the same way ,not swirled ,idea is when you place the floor panels on top you push across trough slightly which collapses the troughs sucking the floor panel down giving far better bond and coverage, same procedure for install tile . Never swirl as it leaves air pockets .
I did that for years till a grown up showed me the way 🙂 Hope this makes sense. Thank you for your videos , it's a pleasure to watch you , exceptional tradesman
Thanks for that, I was shown this years ago by a tiler but we haven't covered it.
Sorry , I have just realized you video is some years old . It great to watch your vids, you know your stuff . Cheers 👍
i'm laying in the bath with candles lit listening to this. just beautiful.
Working wall is such a great solution for new build and larger commercial jobs. Once you have done one, you get faster and faster everytime. From a commercial build its perfect, ie 100 bathrooms in a hotel build, wall turns up, first fitter install a room in a 1/2 a day to a day (depending o the spec), and can have the tilers in the next day while they start the next room, once tiles the second fit installer come in and finish off without having to worry about the plumbing, fixings.
We have seen the residential new build industry also looking at system like these for fast reliable quality bathrooms. I can see these being used more and more in the future.
In one word, Brilliant!!!
Thank you bery much for your videos... They are very educational...
Brilliant workmanship 👷🏽+ Brilliant materials 🛁 = Happy customers 🤞🏽
Couldn't agree more!
@@SkillBuilder What is it they say... "Accountants know the Price of everything and the Value of Nothing..."
This is really interesting and similar to a build I did a while ago but with non stock items - this would have made it much easier. So the main concern I have with this system is movement of the substrate/ floor. I’ve been called to fix a few of these systems installed on upper floors of high end Victorian homes that have undergone significant modifications, and re- settled causing too much movement of the base build up; so they leak to floor below. Yes you will get 2-5 years on a timber reinforced floor in good condition, but I’m very hesitant installing this on anything but concrete slab, or unified base that moves floats with the walls. Reinforced Concrete base in first wet room I ever did has lasted over 17 years, no re grouting, no silicon joints, no shower tray liner! It’s all about managing movement, and this can manage a bit but not enough for many London refurbishments, or at least the ton that are done too cheaply, but look stunning, as they have skimped on decent structure.
We love you Roger! Keep up the fantastic work.
Much appreciated
Does Roger come round when you buy all the parts from Abacus?
This all is bullshit what he shows, look to my commend before, I have done these 20 years ago !!

This video is therapeutic to watch! Roger is my Idol :)
Flawless what a stunning job as always you make it look so easy I could only dream of having your skills and knowledge..thankyou great video love your work..
Nice kit - expertly fitted. You made it look dead easy!!
32:12 always smell the porcelain before you finish.
I'm glad this works for you and is easier; it is some progress it seems. Every time I work on the next step of my home remodel I am disgusted at the way homes are built and I almost lose it. I work in industrial automation and get home to work on some bullshet warped stud wall to hang drywall or a thousand other things. Needless to say I am disgusted at how little standardization there is and how short sighted and low tech houses are. If I made 20 trips to the hardware store for one job and it took 3 times longer than reasonable I would be fired. Home building should be assembly, not craft work (craftsmanship). I like well made things, but the cost and steps to do a little project is ridiculous.
Thank you. Well done.
Beautiful job.
Well done, keep up the good work 👍👍👍
That elements board actually has great sound insulation properties too. 👍
What you don't want everyone to hear you drop a load off.
Beautifully thought out 🤩🧱👍🏼
What a guy and what a video could watch these all the time
I think this abacus system is fantastic thanks roger for sharing this video with us found it very informative and useful.
Lovely job that, great finish too.👍🏼
That pre-plumbed system is a work of art, I would not be surprised if you would find it on the space station!
Not a plumber or planning on getting something done, but boy do I enjoy watching your vids mate 🤟
Wish my bathroom was in a warehouse with unlimited space
A bit similar to some of the bathtub plumbing videos where instead a tight space there is a mock up.
this is aimed at architects more than you dumby
what a great video I am a bathroom fitter myself and believe that your right, what a great way to quote a bathroom. how long did it take from start to finish?
Thanks for posting such great content

Nice system. Excellent video Roger.
Bro, you are awesome at your job. System design appears to be absolutely perfect. Well done.
Thank you very much! It is done in the factory so I can't take credit for screwing a few bits together.
Future of plumbing top work Rodger ! 👌🏻
Awesome. Sheer brilliance.
I do think this is a fabulous job, but being old school still worry about the complete lack of access to all that pipework behind, the panels, also was there a price mentioned for the whole pack, thanks again, good job.
If you need to ask the price . . . . . . .
Probably not, many years ago ( mid -70s) Architect Sir Basil Spence, approached the company l worked for regarding a project he was involved with which was a pre- fabricated concrete bathroom unit to simply add on to old housing stock ( BISON BUILD ON BATHROOM).
The bathroom was to arrive on site completely fitted with appliances and fully plumbed with both hot & cold supplies, and all waste services..
That was fine for similar house types but that soon became evident that variations would kill the project off.
Partially assembled units will always be possible but in the main on mass building projects, and one offs.
Great video - thanks
Can’t remember the last time I had perfect factory conditions in a back to back terraced house in Macclesfield
That is why the video starts by talking about where the working wall is used. New Build.
@@SkillBuilder It is nice for a New building for any rebuild/remodel you can build for 1/2 the money a Walk in Shower with a wallhung toilet and it fits what you need.

those homes are gold mine for plumbers.
Hi Roger. Another great video 👍. Thanks, learned loads.
Can I put in a request for a future video please.
I’ve not fitted any concealed bathroom systems yet so would love to see the whole process of how to make and fit the timber structure that’s surrounds the metal frame for cistern and sink units. You have shown the fitting of the completed frame but not the planning and building from scratch. Thanks 👍

Years ago, I stayed at an hotel in Peterhead, north of Aberdeen, in which the en-suites were like a single big moulding that were said to be from an old oil rig platform - certainly easy to wash down!
They are called pods and a lot of hotels now have them.
Very interesting video. Thanks for showing
Thank you too
another top vid from skill builder
They've been using these in Germany for over 20 years. I was building dry walls round them on the Auf Wiedersehen Pet tour.
And in Denmark it has been done since the late 60. My house (1972) had a complete bathroom and guest toilet put in in 1 go. Walls roof and everything. The problem is that you must be very carefull installing it. The hous was erect in 1 day when the Base was set. The wall in pieces including electric. Only the outer brick wall installed later. Not the best way to do it. They still put in bathroom complete though. But only in Appartment building. Not in 1 family houses.
@@theboving5516 Different scenario, that's new build, this is renovation.
@@the_royal_drop_short. Sorry missed that. But they are renovating appartment where they put in finished Bathroom. But only if it is a full renovation.
Nice work!
Pod systems are becoming a big thing now in Ireland, basically the whole bathroom gets picked off the back of a truck with a crane. Connect your hot, cold, waste and power and boom instant bathroom.
And thousands of people out of work! 😩
@@simonstones1918 Well there's a factory making them, employing qualified Sparks and Plumbers at union rates just 30 miles from me so it's not all bad.

Very enjoyable video! Can anyone answer please, is the combination waste and vent (drain manifold?) accepted by any model code in the US? Many years ago there was a similar combination system called “Sovent” that was accepted by some codes. Same question on the in-wall or in-floor traps. They appear to be high-tech bell traps which are forbidden in many codes. Overall the idea of a highly prefabbed bath is great but some of the piping practice will be a hard sell to some codes. Also: What is the water piping material used here? It appears to have nicely made bends and does not really resemble PEX.
Just wondering is that better Wayne, cheers,x.
Great video
Nice clean job.
I've been in the trade many years. And have fitted allsorts. But watching Rodger, always gives me a Buzz👍
So I'm watching RUclips videos of tracksaws, especially Mafell, when I came across these wonderful Brits. I became hooked and I'm still watching their videos. I cannot express how much I enjoy your videos. Cheers from across the "Pond"
Just one question: The pipework is MLCP press fit? If is which brand? Good to see finally old stone soldering to go... good job..
Viega
amazing , how long does this build take and what does it cost, parts and labor?
very very very clever, great video
Thank you! Cheers!
That was really interesting Rodger 👍
Thanks 👍
Very interesting Roger looks easy
Have just put in the Abacus wetroom system myself. Expensive but well worth it for the ease, be interesting to try this as well. Keep up these videos Roger & Abacus as they are working to increase sales, I wouldn't have known about or bought without these.
Hi Lee
That is good feedback. I hope you are pleased with the results.
Those 90 and 180 degree bends in the supply look like they're flattening the hose out. Is that going to impede flow?
No they were formed on a bender and that pipe has an aluminium layer to help it hold its shape. The flow is not impeded and, for a basin it is plenty.
Looks absolutely fantastic, but expensive. But I suppose convenience costs. Very tidy Roger, great vid!
Moisture resistant board isn't cheap either, maybe a touch more for a much better job, plus the heat retained by this method would be much higher
Hi Roger, what thickness elements board are you using for the dot and dab walls and also behind the WC and wash basin? 👍😀
12mm
Very good 😌
Nice video. Quick question. How do you relocate toilet, waste and vent stack?
That is the kind of job best left to a plumber
You are very good mate 👌🏻
Good video as always. Wall panels lighter than aqua panels too.
Tell mi baht it! I've recently gone over to using them. Wish I'd made the change a LOOOONG time ago.
Very nice

How much did the bathroom cost? Parts wise?
Well Presented 👍
Thank you 🙂

You are the Bob Ross of plumbing.
How do you secure the elements board or Hardy backer to the wc metal frame and basin frame?
You don't.
You can use some polymer adhesive but we just screw into the timbers
Beautiful job Roger, how long did it take to fit that modular system?
It takes about 2 hours to fit the frames and link them up. The guys on site are fitting 4 or 5 in a day.
@@SkillBuilder You make it look so easy. Stay Safe.
I apologise if i missed this, but how to you gain access if and when cistern packs up....

Roger can you do a two minute tip video on adjusting a bath temperature valve? We have a new build and the hot tap has the temp capped because of the valve, not sure how to change it!
Thermostatic mixing valves usually have a removable plastic cap below the mixed water outlet (to hot tap). When this is removed a hex key port is exposed, to increase the temperature you turn the hex key anti clockwise and to decrease the temperature you turn clockwise. Some valves require an adjustable spanner to adjust the temperature but the principle is just the same.
@@danielharris9346 thank you that’s a great help 🙂
How big is that bathroom, i am.looking at refurbing my bathroom and trying to come up with ideas but i am limited with space. Will also need to move a window as it currently is 1100 wide and my bathroom is only 1700 wide so takes up too much space
Where can I find the music in the video?
Nice job
I couldn't tile those areas without testing the h/c and waste pipework, the amouyof jobs I've been to where cowboys have done the installation and leaks occur wks later is a joke,no fun having to take out pans/ basins etc and multitool tiles off to get at leaks😢🤔
I bought one of these MacAlpin air admittance traps. Bathroom basin.
What purpose does the wee screw cap part have on the top part of the valve ? Any ? Does is do anything to the performance ? Anyone answer this please cheers
it is a valve to allow air to be sucked in under negative pressure. Leave it alone and it will work
@@SkillBuilder Yes I know how it works I just wondered what the screw cap parts purpose was ? (Maybe just how it’s manufactured)
The sink doesn’t drain very well , say for instance when the taps on cleaning teeth it fills up slightly . The waste pipe appears clear beyond the trap. It’s a very tight space, the upheaval of changing the waste pipe (might have build up on it) isn’t appealing to me at present. I’m on a process of elimination. Might try some unblock-er product. It’s a sprung basin plug, not the best for draining imo. Thanks
Do you have a link for the thread sealant you use at 24:34 by any chance?

Loctite 55 for most things and sometimes the liquid which is expensive but brilliant
Roger why do Uponor not import their blue and red pipe here into the UK. All BSP fittings albeit imperial pipe does not matter with their expansion fittings?
Get intouch with multiple fantastic company 👍
I think pipe in pipe is coming. This is Viega.
1:50 wall elements are floor to ceiling and completely flat, 2:01 the wall element is recessed at the lower 12 inches but there is no mention of this. Its obviously important for the shower element installation. Can we have more info regarding this?
Jon
It wasn't an intentional omission just a drop in the edit. We have another video where this is dealt with in more detail where the tray is fitted but this video was more an overview of the pre-plumbed wall. It is only important on this particular wet room former because of the plastic upstand. That said many people don't bother with the recess and just bring the tiles out on a thicker bed.
@@SkillBuilder OK great, thanks. I will take a look to see if i can find the video. Sorry, i should have mentioned, its a great video and I thank you what you are doing. I will use these boards when i do my shower room.

Roger that it is a superb system not sure about needing a step ladder to get into the shower 😉 but any new build house with this sort of bathroom install will be of really superb quality and it will probably be the only bit of good quality in the whole F’n house. Speaking from bitter experience.👍
Everyone would prefer a level access but if you can't have it I kind of like the fact that it is a proper step up.

10 out of 10 !
It's nice but I can only see it useable for those customers who can afford systems like this. For the everyday man who is installing, cost is king. I like the idea of identifying hot and cold via colours and like set isolation valves for the whole bathroom but the rest it just too much imo
It is for new build. The idea is that housebuilders use a system that takes away a lot of the variables. It is very popular.
Hi Roger, I don't understand , what you mean by "cutting off the difference". Could you please explain.
Hard to explain that one I’m afraid! Lol
If you put the pipe into the cistern flush pipe and mark it, that gives you the depth of the insert. You then put the pipe into the back of the pan and mark that. So you then have the total depth of the inserts into both the pan and the cistern. If you measure in between those to marks on the pipe it tells you how much you need to cut off the pipe. Take away another 3mm and cut the pipe.
@@SkillBuilder lol...not sure I’d understand that roger and I do it for a living! It’s one of those head F’s
