Many thanks to James Dowling for the interview. That was really a very inspiring and fascinating talk. This is a million times better than all this other RUclips nonsense. Apart from Paul and Spencer, of course, who I always enjoy listening to.
I have watched a few interviews with James and despite his achievements he always reminds very humble. Such a great man. Thanks for the experience Paul and all the best for the new project at BQ Watches.
James was a wonderful guest. He’s probably forgotten more about Rolex than most people will ever know. Most people today won’t have a care for Rolex’s rich history pre ceramic and sapphire. It’s fascinating to visit places like Burlington Arcade in London and see very early examples of Rolex in weird and wonderful co figurations completely different from the similar looking Rolex product lines today. What a wealth of experience on tonight’s panel! Lovely stuff. A cool episode would be to get into Burlington and get some ancient old Rolex in hand.
In the early 80s i was in Belgium and come across a second hand shop and in the window they had a ladies Rolex 18ct gold 1950s pos 1940s and purchased it when i returned to London i took it to Rolex in Green st Mayfair service centre I showed it to an elderly chap and asked for an estimate for a complete renovation he looked at it and said it was a fake. I took it home and put it in my scrap precious metal box and forgot about it for many years until one day i showed it to a friend of mine that was into Rolex watches he opened the back and said if it was fake he would be very surprised and put me in touch with his friend who worked for Rolex service in Bexley and he confirmed it was real i left it with him and on the side he completely renovated it the watch came back as new.
Lovely to listen to someone like that just loves watches not meany people like that around that are top of there industry and talk about it to the public 👍
Greetings from Southend Paul. Enjoyed the talk immensely, nice to see real enthusiasts talking! Can confirm the Daytona story. An older guy at my Bowls Club has a 6263. He was a bit of a lad when younger , and his dad promised him a Rolex if he finished his Ford Apprenticeship at Dagenham. He went to Southend Rolex in high street(long gone) the cheapest watch watch was the Daytona. Was in the back storeroom unloved, he was not impressed with it at the time! He wear it all the time, even seen him putting in a new row of fences wearing it! Love the new style vids.
What a font of brilliant knowledge ….i did exactly what he recommended, bought an Oyster Precision then read & studied everything & never looked back……..priceless advice……Thankyou
Oisin O Malley was just talking shit about you on his stream. Apparently he doesn't like how you are sticking up for the indigenous British and getting views because of it. I called him out on stream, saying that you are getting views because you are telling the truth about what is going on in the UK. He answered my comment directly, gave a vague non-answer, and skirted around the subject.
Yes Rolex Techinacn is old school, l believe in this modern era are rolex using fitters to simply exchange parts. And simply replace with new parts. Not quite sure on a 21/22 ⌚in Rolex warranty , when a service is eventually required what's the deal with a replacement, service glass being returned to the customer with a (S) at the 6 o'clock position as aposed to the rolex symbol Lazared on to crystal glass. What is this about and in your opinion does this interfere with authenticity in your opinion Mr P and Mr D. Stream DQ
i watched an Antique program the other day there was a french watch no idea off the name something like louri voruli or klement loury , it was slim and nice and had the initials in the brown strap .it went for £220 my mate said there worth £600 to 800
Great stream Paul & Spencer.? For you both what is the real deal with this C.P.O Business what is it really all about , Prices justified can you mr T & mr D simply enlighten me pls. DQ 💯% great stream with educated and undoubtedly experienced Rolex Historian and and like l said in a previous stream comment Paul your limited time spent in the ⌚industry 😂 lol .

As somebody else in the comments has said, I could listen to James speak all day. Amazing knowledge, fascinating guy. Thanks so much for the video!

Amazing interview. It's a privilege to listen to the Roles tales from James....
Loved that…… thanks James
Thank you Paul this is real watch lovers content 👍.
Sadly the demand has fallen, and with so many idiots ruining the Watch YT space, it's becoming harder and harder. Cheers.

Why is Optimus Prime (Transformer) standing next to a plant in the background ? 🤣 Great interview Paul, very informative. 👍

Amazing knowledge. I’d love to hear more from him
Paul can you do a video visit to WHIZZ watches in Brighton look interesting.
I have never been disappointed since I became a customer of amzwatch. Their watches are of exceptional quality.
That was an absolute pleasure to watch 👍🏻 love the out takes 🇬🇧
James is almost funnier than Spencer ! Great video Paul
Paul Thorpe is like a Lister Jaguar. There's proper substance inside the man & he appeals to all generations.

Really enjoyed this - proper watch chat!
What magazines, books etc would you recommend?
Very very interesting!
Awesome. I looked at a 1675 GMT Master in Bucherer Covent Garden. Riveted oyster bracelet and all. Well over-priced though.
