For NY it's a combination of Kismet not being as good at MW3 as he was at MW2 and the fact that teams take them seriously. Last season people didn't care because they were too busy talking about Optic's top12 finish major 1 to realise NY won it and then suddenly they win M5 and Champs after being relatively mid all season. This season people care since they formed a super team just like Ultra Optic and Faze did. If Sib has a bad game and Kismet stays mid they can lose to everyone in the league. If they kept Priestahh I'm pretty sure they would have done worse. Kismet was known for popping three pieces on hill which was much easier to do in VG and MW2 on 100 health. Also this is just online, as long as they place 4th or 3rd every LAN they'll be fine for champs.

If Pdawgg was still on New york team they will not struggle as much they are now. Sib is a different player he like to slay and push & shoot his gunn rather than make the right play . Unpopular opinion: NYSL made the right decision to drop Preston. 1. No team has EVER won champs, ran it back and won again 2. Faze and Optic got way better so it would have been silly for NYSL to stay the same 3. Preston got carried last year and he's not even good at thia game 4.
