Minecraft actually used to have an error where the audio would be silent no matter how many times you'd uninstall. Happened to me when I tried installing forge in like 2016. Went silent. Uninstalled and reinstalled and it was still an issue. I think it's been fixed now though

When I went to buy the game to play with friends after years of not playing, back when there was only one version of Minecraft for the PC, what a concept, I luckily had the foresight to ask my friends which version I needed to buy, which was Java. Now that's been 'solved' by including both versions for PC with one purchase so you don't have to pay twice, but they really should have done that as soon as the PC had two separate versions of almost the exact same game.
