It is not at all reasuring that there is no compulsory standard and test which is required for a pilot to fly any aircraft, let alone a passenger aircraft. Imagine if that were the case with a surgeon. In European countries, a driver of a coach needs a special license, as does the driver of a lorry. The larger the vehicle the more stringent the test which they have to pass in order to be able to work at that job. Why should air travel - which is FAR more complex and demanding on the pilot than is driving a large vehicle - be exempt? This makes no sense whatever.

Yeah, but it didnt show how far away it was or its altitude. The plane was lining up to the runway, but it descended too steep and didnt make sure they could see the runway
This is an undeniably difficult discussion to have and undeniably difficult choices will have to be made in this regard, but serious consideration will have to be given to the restriction or total banning of commercial air travel for the masses, regardless of the size of carrier or aircraft involved, where flying and air travel will have to be returned to becoming the exclusive preserve of the super rich and/or the state/military, thereby reducing the possibility of air accidents, long after 9/11 and in these days of climate change - most commercial air travel has at least one other form of transport, such as rail, road, or ship, sometimes used in combination, even if considerably slower (and safer) - the EU due to climate change is clearly recognising this and is starting to restrict or ban “short haul” flights and another possible reason is because they see bodies like Eurocontrol being overburdened
He could have insisted on the ILS, that would have been reasonable given the conditions. Swissair should also have trained the 28 approach in the preceding year.
The way this entire episode from the direction they gave the actresses, to the one passenger they interviewed, is pretty weird and tasteless towards that one music group.
The pilot is incompetent. The airlines should not have hired him in the first place as he's only below-average in performance but that didn't stop the airline from hiring him. 38:49 After those incidents the airline should have fired him completely but he still remained as a pilot for passenger planes which leads to the doomed of that plane.
disagree. In the case of poor visibility the aircraft should have been diverted to the better equipped runway. Time and again flight controllers get away with their sloppy behaviour without any sanctions. Poor handovers, supervisors who go home irresponsibly too early and leave juniors heavily burdened alone. etc, etc.

They should remake some of the older episodes.
They've actually been doing that in newer seasons not yet uploaded to RUclips.
Back then pilots liked snorting bath salts and taking shots of barrel whiskey. So they were alert. Musta been a frozen go go valve.
Well after watching all these videos I’ve learned a valuable lesson…. Never fly in or out of Switzerland. Wow I thought they were a peaceful, non violent country but sweet Georgia Brown do planes hate their airways my goodness
I know some people that flown in and out of Swiss at least once a week. So I don’t think it’s that dangerous. We saw a lot of car crash and people are still not afraid of driving. But you can always fly to Germany and take the train to Swiss.
Perfect Murphy’s Law

Are you a child?
@@gryphon10how is that childish? Its actually what is.. why do you behave this way?
Another arrogant pilot. Who would have thought??
Euro pop, where wild behaviour consists of playing with the reading light, call button and seat cushions. But i write this 5 mins in, and dont wish anyone pain and trauma so, though annoying, i sincerely hope the girls make it out ok.
That captain wasn’t very nice at all.
SMH 🤦♀️ wth passion fruit were all, singing there hit song,as every one else, screamed, boo'd,and prayed 🙏 😲
Why experienced pilots believe that they can land blind folded
LOL , Passion Fruit were the German equivalent to the Spice Girls LOL
Dunning-Kruger kills.
How does that apply here?
@@uriituwthe captain overestimated his abilities..how else would it be applied?!?

Our uni prof used to say:
"There is 3 kind of people. You have experience and knowledge, You are the workers. We do not have experience, just knowledge, we are the educators. They do have neither experience, nor knowledge, they are the bosses."
Triple Lutz bad landing
Passion Fruit really liked you man! Come on. 😅
During the video the ATC instruments showed the plane was on the right path to the runway.
Yeah, but it didnt show how far away it was or its altitude. The plane was lining up to the runway, but it descended too steep and didnt make sure they could see the runway
He should have been saying Mayday, Mayday
FYI...All pilots are ,FORCED,2 have ,life insurance! Wth 🤦♀️
No they aren’t
2011.
Nobody cares
😂
I'd of went full power go around much sooner and called a pan pan and demanded ILS approach.
And, when he got on the ground, he would have had to justify this. He was a bad pilot who should never have been allowed anywhere near a cockpit.
He could have insisted on the ILS, that would have been reasonable given the conditions. Swissair should also have trained the 28 approach in the preceding year.
This isn't new. You've posted this one before
Theyre all reposted, man..
Lutz Huge Mistake for Crossair
Planes 🛩️ travel fast! 💥💀💀💀
It's just a sad reality for pilots that if the crash were their errors, they're already dead to explain and defend themselves.
The way this entire episode from the direction they gave the actresses, to the one passenger they interviewed, is pretty weird and tasteless towards that one music group.
The video is about the technicality of the crash and not a drama.
fake spice girls should have been on a private flight... supervisor leaves early, nothing can go wrong now...
Not enough experience
Anyone here in 2089?
It is still runway one four and not fourteen....
I don’t thinks she’s serving, she’s collecting ready for landing.
39:04
didnt that literally happen in the simpsons??
They always try to blame the pilot...
In this case it was the pilots fault
The pilot is incompetent. The airlines should not have hired him in the first place as he's only below-average in performance but that didn't stop the airline from hiring him. 38:49 After those incidents the airline should have fired him completely but he still remained as a pilot for passenger planes which leads to the doomed of that plane.
Years of experience doesn’t show how competence u are…
Another case of crash helmets not wearing
wow 24 years ago
All re-runs.
Posh girls what what, I’d be stoked!!
disagree. In the case of poor visibility the aircraft should have been diverted to the better equipped runway. Time and again flight controllers get away with their sloppy behaviour without any sanctions. Poor handovers, supervisors who go home irresponsibly too early and leave juniors heavily burdened alone. etc, etc.
A qualified pilot should be able to fly a non precision approach at their base airport without crashing into a hill 3 miles short of the runway
