Mostly due to their 23 year age difference, many think Dionne was Whitney's aunt. They were cousins. Dionne's mother, Lee (Drinkard) Warrick, born 1920, was the much older sister of Whitney's mother, "Cissy" (Drinkard) Huston, born 1933. Then, Lee had Dionne when she was only 20 (1940), while Cissy didn't have Whitney till she was 30 (1963). Also, there's some confusion because of how the families blended. Lee & Cissy's mother died in 1941. 8 year old Cissy moved in with her sister, Lee & Lee's 1 year old baby, Dionne. So, Cissy had somewhat of a "mother" relationship with Lee & a "sister" relationship with niece Dionne (& Dionne's sister, Dee Dee, born 1942).

The song “We Are the World” was recorded on January 28, 1985 by the supergroup USA for Africa and released on March 7, 1985. The song was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie and produced by Quincy (The Conductor in the Video) Jones and Michael Omartian. The single was a charity effort to raise money and awareness for famine victims in Africa and sold over 800,000 copies in its first three days, eventually raising more than $60 million

This song was 98% written by Michael Jackson himself!
A little story which his sister Latoya told:
For a week, the two spent every night working on lyrics and melodies in Michael's bedroom. Michael's older sister La Toya recounted the process in an interview with the U.S. celebrity news magazine People: "I'd go into the room while they were writing and it would be very quiet, which is odd, since Michael's usually very cheery when he works. It was very emotional for them." She also later said that
Michael wrote most of the lyrics "but he's never felt it necessary to say that"
Lionel Richie had recorded two melodies for "We Are the World", which Michael took, adding music and words to the song on the same day. MJ said, "I love working quickly. I went ahead without even Lionel knowing. I couldn't wait. I went in and came out the same night with the song completed: drums, piano, strings, and words to the chorus. Michael then presented his demo to Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones, who were both shocked; they did not expect the Pop Star to see the structure of the song so quickly!
Dereck Please react to some more MJ! Missed them MJ reactions real bad! 😃

Music is universal and touches your heart and soul. I haven’t seen this clip for years so thank you

All-stars. 🌟 Written by the late Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie.
Dan Akroyd is the only foreign born singer there, from Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦 Fellow Canadian David Foster wanted him to sing with Northern Lights, but then wife Donna Dixon coaxed DA to sing with the American supergroup. Quincy Jones gently ribbed DF on this! L🤣L. 2 years before this recording, the 2 worked on the Thriller album for the late Michael Jackson.
After this recording, Quincy Jones asked David Foster to organize a supergroup. He did! 🤯 This became Northern Lights. Bryan Adams, Gaddy Lee, Anne Murray, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young are some of the singers.
Strongly 💪 suggested video 📹: Northern Lights perform Tears Are Not Enough 🇨🇦

Not the only foreigner. Bob Geldof is from Ireland. He was here. Geldof was also the guy behind Band Aid (with Midge Ure from the bands Ultravox and Thin Lizzy). Band Aid were a charity supergroup featuring mainly British and Irish musicians and recording artists. It was founded in 1984 (one year before «We are the world») to raise money for anti-famine efforts in Ethiopia by releasing the song "Do They Know It's Christmas?" They were actually also the guys behind Live aid concerts.

    I must admit.
I'm french, and I got chills as soon as the song begins because for me (52) i gives me back so much souvenirs its was awesome so so big in the whole world, it was the beginning of seeings lot of stars together.
Of course you don't recognise them all, but for eveyone, in 1985 we all knew who they where, but with bif famous stars, you had americans big hit singers, in different kind of music, all together.
So I must admit: I had chills from the beginning...and also some tears
Nobody cared if you were black or white, gay or straight, muslim or catholic, man or woman. Of course there were some problems, but this was the time when everyone was together, when in 2022 everyone want to show "the other" is different.

1.- When you say I don't know who is that: is Kenny Loggins. 'Danger Zone' from Top Gun's OST (starring Tom Cruise) is his most famous hit.
2.- When you say I don't know who is that either: is Steve Perry, the Journey band's voice.
3.- When you say he looks familiar: is Daryll Oates, the Hall & Oates voice. Also John Oates with his moustache is in the chorus.
4.- When you ask: who is that?: is James Ingram. Some people call him 'The R&B's Father'
5.- Anita Pointer is under Dan Aykroyd and Harry Belafonte. A few minutes after Bob Dylan sings.
