I hope this is the sign of positive things happening at the park, I hold the pleasure beach so close to my heart. I've been going ever since I was in a wee pram! I'm 26 now and been season pass holder since 2013. All I want is a decent season next year, more reliability and overall good vibes!
I adore Blackpool Pleasure Beach and as for my younger son, it's his second home! Amanda Thompson is doing a grand job. Please, please keep The Big One, Icon and Grand National though.
Definitely going to be a period of change at Pleasure Beach! I'm going to miss Grand Prix but excited to see what comes next. They have got a lot of spaces they can use for new projects across the park.
I am hoping that after a few years of little investment we’re about to see things change based on some comments they’ve made recently. The rebranding and needing to modernise etc 🤞
@@coaster_dad Fingers crossed :) The park really does need investment (which isn't another hotel at the moment). I would love to see something in the space where Trauma Towers / Wild Mouse sat - lot of space that side with the unused dome & slowly clearing bowling buildings too
so when amanda said ice blast was closed waiting for a part a while back - what she actually meant was waiting for fred dibnah. meantime are they still charging full gate price to go and watch rides being dismantled ?, gerat to see you getting ahead of everyone else of these sort of things chris ( even with someone elses photos)
Yeah no idea what’s going on. But in a newspaper article today the park has said to look out for developments in the coming weeks. So we’ll see. And yeah I was pleasantly surprised when Steve offered me a tonne of photos 😀
A great video as always mate, thoroughly enjoyed and very informative 😁. I saw earlier you got 1,000 views in an hour, congratulations on that achievement. Thats amazing that is bud, truly deserved 😊👍👏
@ It is crazy mate but it’s very well deserved 😊👍. Nearly 1k an hour which is nuts 👏. Keep it up mate. Great to see you getting the recognition you deserve. The channel is coming on leaps and bounds every week and keeps getting better and better 👏😁
Loved these news updates. You packed a lot in which was good. It looks like there’s a lot going on as I was worried that the Grand Prix was going to lay there for years abandoned.
Myself and my partner have just been thinking- I know people love tradition and traditional rides but it honestly doesn’t always need to remain. It’s great that they have kept and maintained them for so long but everything has a shelf life- most of the old rides, if not all of them, are incredibly rough and take up so much space. Would love some replacements in the future.
Positive things happening finally! I was in last weekend and Diego's was back open again with the balloons on so whatever they were doing has been completed. Big Dipper, I asked someone and got the impression it's winter maintenance had started early so get the impression that's closed now. Grand National was still open but noticed the Green train which you had pics in the car park of which had been running all year was in one of the bays at the side and they had the burgundy one in it's place. It could be as you say they've moved to the other set. I'm going again on Sunday so will grab you some pics if I can. Will be there on the 30th too so hopefully bump into you
Very informative Chris. I'm surprised the park still has a few weeks to run, back in the day the park closed straight after half term. Good news that work has started, hopefully the next few years are going to be more positive.
Lots of answers today, that's for sure. Underwhelming season and underwhelming closure. I doubt we will see the gyro at all next year, but would be nice. Ps. Sorry for dragging you on Valhalla today. You didnt make much convincing though 😂
Cannibalism actually happens a lot if your trying to save money on parts because if you have something with perfectly good parts but some are broken you may as well as cannibalise it.
Yeah not felt like that in a long time. I saw footage of Doris on opening day with BoyZone and her restraint was so loose she nearly did shoot out the seat!
Pleasure Beach's website advises that Big Dipper is closed now for planned maintenance so im guessing that wont be back this year... They didn't say anything about Grand National tho... Fairy cars in Nick Land are also down
Yeah someone mentioned Dipper. Interesting about Nash, after filming I noticed it was the green train in the car park which was the operational train. So I assumed it was out of action but maybe they got the other trains sorted 🤷♂️
The key thing in this is value for money. As things stand with BPB, a visit for us would cost more than accommodation to stay over and have a nice visit, for the same money for BPB and one evenings stay, we can have 4 nights in Edinburgh (so guess which we’re doing this year). I do miss visiting, but it’s a cost issue. There were other options and they are gone and as a result, people don’t go. It works with places like flamingo land as there’s lots there other than the rides, but also things like the beach are another 20 miles away (love Whitby 😊), whereas at Blackpool, it’s across the road, with other attractions 15 minutes walk away, or a quick trip on a tram. Don’t get me wrong, had some great times with the kids at Blackpool, they’ve grown up and while my youngest is still at home and would love to visit the pleasure beach again, it’s just not feasible financially as the pricing structures stand, especially when there are other, cheaper options within walking distance. Will keep an eye on things, look at what is being offered next year, but until then, the likes of the pipers in Edinburgh will be more likely to get the money we do have to spend (Shame the Royal Mile Tavern will be out of action for another year 😢)
@ a good idea, though there should be an option for people who just want to go on just the odd one like there used to be. The place was pretty much always busy, it not always packed back then. Good though that things are being worked on, it would be nice to see the whole area be on the up again, I do miss the days when you could spend a day central, hop on a tram and spend the evening on a few rides at the pleasure beach before going to a show to finish the evening off. Fun times.
@ we’ve done it for years now. Yes things are expensive, but my comparison was the cost of one or two nights plus the cost of entry into the please Ire beach. If all 4 of us went, and visited BPB once, that alone costs more than our 4 night stay in Edinburgh in a couple of weeks. O@, we booked Edinburgh back in January, so the room price was cheaper, but the point still stands. After all, we can’t let the pipers lose their regulars from 250 miles away (that made the Edinburgh live headlines, yes that was us if anyone saw it)
@@coaster_dad I'm there this weekend for the first time in about 10 years! Was hoping to catch the dipper again, but alas Grand National + Nick Streak will have to do!
@@coaster_dad Forty years ago this week, I would traditionally be scouring the land where The Ranger ride would be removed for 'winterisation'. Many, many coins would have fallen between what was still then a stone/gravel base, as was the coach park back then, before they laid tarmac. I was a 'company' child from the age of 8. My mother was connected to rides and engineering. I enjoyed your Halloween videos. In the winter when the park is closed, there is a cut through from the works department alongside the Grand National, that then continues right through the closed and dark Alice in Wonderland ride. Aged 9 or 10, walking through that ride in the dark was horrifying, haha. It did make the journey to the River Caves and to the South/South West Park, half the time though. It's lovely to see the place these days through your eyes.
I hope you can help me, have a question I can't seem to get an answer to. I am going to Efteling in early January, and I want to use my pleasure beach season pass free ticket. When you renew a season pass what day do they send the email / proof you have a pass? I've heard it's in January, I just need to know when 🥲 As I assume you need the pass for the current year in order to get in... I hope this makes sense 😂 PS. I love the videos 🎢
Good question. This year I got my season pass registration email on the 23rd Jan. not sure if they are all sent together or spread over a few days/weeks. And it is a good question in terms of whether you can use the current year or not. That might be something to contact Efteling and ask. Assuming you have the current year you could say you haven’t used the free entry and plan to visit before next season begins at BP so you’re not sure if this season pass will still be accepted.
I think maybe Pleasure Beach might be thinking about trying to time there new attraction for a similar opening date as the project Oceania attraction at towers to maybe compete for visitors? Just my speculation and would make sense

With all this work and the (hopeful) introduction of an "on the day" non-rider pass 2025 could be shaping up to be a really good year for the park. Certainly better than the mess that 2024 has been !
I’m wondering if the bowladrome building is getting a refurb with new toilets. The tree planting scheme proposed with the updated planning application for the apart-hotels (or whatever they are called) on the front shows new trees adjacent to the rear of the existing building. And I guess the car park behind will be needed for the apartments. Who knows 😳
Interesting. Clearly something is happening over there. A member of staff told me about a month ago that was where the gyro was going. But things can change. Hoping we see something soon.
