At the end of the original space marine game Captain Titus was taken away by the inquisition to make sure he wasn't corrupted by chaos since he was heavily exposed to it. In this trailer his armor indicates that he was reduced in rank to lieutenant.
Thank you for reminding me! I totally didn't know that he was reduced in rank. To be honest, I wouldn't even know where to look for the rank on his armour. Hope you enjoyed the video! KZ
Also the time between Space Marine 1 and 2 is over 200 years. The metal bits on his forehead are called service studs, gold for 100 years, silver for 50 years. So he's been in active duty for 400 years now. 😅 Definately check out the Astartes fanmade thing, the person who made it really put alot of effort and information into each and every second of that whole thing.
I've just watched the Summer gamesfest trailer for Space Marine 2, sounds like the "captain's" if that is correct still don't trust him and you say this is 200 years after the first one?? Whats your boy gotta do to win back his team mates!?!
I was just going to say this - it's mindblowing how good it is. If you can help it, watch the ones with the original sound design. IIRC, new ones were uploaded and the sound design changed for some reason - was a downgrade imo
It's on my list to film this weekend or early next week. I heard the sound design changed due to copyright. I'll try and find them on RUclips unless you have a link for me? Thanks for watching my video! ✌🏻
One of my favorite details about this trailer is when Titus is fighting the big Tyranid Warrior, he felt no compulsion to fight with any kind of honor, because he almost certainly knows how the Tyranids work, at least as well as anyone in-universe can know. As soon as he saw an opening, bolt to the knee, stab to the chest and ripped off its head, not a moment of hesitation for seeminglyunderhanded tactics when fighting something as vast and uncaring as the Tyranid hive mind.
Ultramarines probably know more about Tyranids than most since multiple of their 500 planets was devoured by one of the hive fleets. They hold a grudge, ya know.
If it's anything like this then I've just got to see it! I'll add it to my list. Thank you for watching and commenting, hope you enjoyed the video, KZ.
"Whilst wearing their power armour, an unarmed Space Marine typically stands slightly over 2.1 metres tall and weighs between 500-1,000 kg." These are modified Space Marines called Primaris even higher than average Space Marine. A new breed. Going to wait your reaction to ASTARTES series, it's not that short which is good! You'll be shocked x10 It's actually insane. (Adeptus Astartes are Space Marines in High Gothic language of a WH40k which is basically Latin)
Everything I read there in your comment has blown my mind. I'm loving the universe from what I've personally played and this trailer. Wowza! Thanks for watching another video and commenting!
8ft = 2.45 Yeah absolute massive, they've got like 19 extra organs (the primaris have more) Not sure if i like the pramaris to be honest.... But let's see where the story goes. Recently picked up this old love of mine after like 10 years. Started reading Belicarius Cawl book
@Frejth King Wait let me guess... Black Templars are your fav? I just heard that in lore a black templar crusade fleet apparently killed off all the Primaris that were sent to them XD
At the end of the first one, Titus had a dumb dumb squadmate named Lameandro- I mean Leandros who was heavily invested in a rule book called the Codex Astatres which says if someone is resistant to the warp, he might be tainted by chaos. So he sold Titus out to the inquisition. Apparently, Titus was cleared, brought back as a lieutenant, and crossed the rubicon primaris within the past century. One cool thing about 40k and this short is that a lot of the bits and bops on people's armor or their equipment and iconography can tell you a lot about them. The easy one is the normal soldier has that big backpack so he's a vox officer (he's the phone guy) and he has purple eyes so he's from Cadia. With the marines you can tell Titus is over 400 years old because of the 4 campaign studs in his head when he takes off his helmet. Each gold one denotes 1 century of service. Looks like he's still part of the 2nd Company because of the gold trim on the pauldron. You can grab a lot of info out of this just visually if you know enough about the lore, which is cool. Says they understand the ip. Althoug it's weird the Tyranids backed off a bit when the marines landed and Titus is kind of an alternate timeline character because if he's primaris it means he's captain when Cato Sicarius should have been captain. I'm all for it because Cato sucks but interesting none the less.
I found your comment enlightening, thank you for that. I love that you can tell all that information by colour or a stud on his head. I hated the young guy in the first game.
Maybe Cato finally got killed by something? (unlikely but I'm sure at least TTS Calgar would be pleased) Or maybe Calgar finally did what he was threatening to do so Cato is indisposed.
It's not much but they did go through and clarify that Titus was captain of the 2nd prior to Cato. Not a whole lot of detail timeline wise, but it is now official canon that Titus became captain and some unspecified time after space marine 1 happened, he spent time with the inquisition, then turned to the deathwatch as he had not heard anything from the Ultramarines while he was with the inquisition and assumed he dishonored them, and eventually he ran into the Ultramarines again on a mission. He was wounded pretty badly, so the only way to save him was to cross the rubicon, and afterwards he was welcomed back and reinstated to the 2nd company, although not given his old rank of captain back.
The size of the space marines has changed over the years. These particular ones are Primaris wearing mark 10 armor. The ones you are originally familiar with are now called the Firstborn Marines in mark 7 armor. Basically Primaris are space marines that went through a process called the Rubicon Primaris and as a result, are taller stronger and more resilient than firstborn space marines. I hope that explanation helps.
Imagine you and your mate fighting to survive a battle and then, literal angels decend from the sky to turn the tide, this is what the guardsman just experienced, before he saw them, he probably thought that space marines are a myth.
The Nids were "Gaunts", specifically Hormagaunts for the melee bugs and Termagants for the gun bugs if there were any, and the big one was a Tyranid Warrior with bone swords.
The really cool bit is the studs of service on this head. Gold stud - a full century of service this Marine has been fighting for over 400 years. just casually shown with no regard for it.
Great breakdown. I'm sure others will mention it, but the Astares cinematic reigns supreme. Maybe not as casual friendly viewing, but no other trailer imo captures the grimdark universe better.
Mr Ted Talk, I was going to @ you asking for a review on this new format. You beat me to it. I'm actually happy with this format so will be continuing with it for a while. Still getting used to the RUclips editing style though but my knowledge is still there for you guys. After a few of these, you'll be making films yourself or become a novelist. All the tools are there 👍🏻. Thanks for coming back and enjoying the content. You're helping shape the channel which is invaluable so thank you. Great recommendation too, I've added it to the list already thanks to the other comments I've seen. I look forward to watching them and breaking down the storytelling, KZ.
Nice work as usual, thank you 🙂 The large Tyranid was a Warrior and they one of the Tyranid bioforms "synapse creatures" which control the lesser Tyranids around them. I love how this is reflected in the smaller 'Nids (Hormagaunts - small stabby gribblies, as opposed to Termagants which are small shooty ones - the trailer might've gone differently if 3 Marines dropped in front of a group of those!) in how they back off slightly as the Warrior guiding them assesses and evaluates the new threat which has just dropped in. Threat assessed, in go the expendable gribblies first so the Tyranid Warrior can analyse their combat prowess at lesser risk to itself. The Tyranid Hive Mind will be studying that encounter through that Warrior and will adapt its tactics accordingly to handle the arrival of the Astartes. I see people below recommending the 40k 10th edition cinematic and it's pretty good although one encounter shown had me raising both eyebrows as a long-term fan, but honestly I think the older trailer for 40k's 9th edition is better. It's better rendered, is clearer and more cohesive with less cutting to and fro. In addition to the 9th edition trailer, in 2018 Richard Boylan did a 5 minute live-action short called "Guardsman" which you may also appreciate. Please keep up the good work!
@@kaizammit It's very low budget but that gives it some charm I think. Boylan then went on to do a great multi-part animated series based on 40k's Helsreach novel, and I believe that is currently working with GW on their Angels of Death Blood Angels series.
Another detail I enjoyed was that in the first game Titus had a very close relationship with the Imperial Guard commander, and had a lot of compassion towards the IG. This was used against him at the end when he was turned over to the Inquisition. In this trailer, you can see how it has affected him, as he completely ignores the IG at the end.
Found your channel today after the Astartes reaction popped up for me, loving how you break down things with a focus on storytelling and the techniques used to reinforce that storytelling, thanks for the videos mate!
Thanks for the awesome comment, you've made my day. Plenty more reactions and most importantly breakdowns to come. I hope to see you in the comment section in future videos. KZ

Yeah I've got two youll prolly like "Warhammer 40k, the new edition cinematic trailer" it came out 2 months ago and is awesome featuring the primatch of the ultramarines Guilliman. And this one is awesome but probably requires some more knowledge of 40k lore to fully appreciate, "Helsreach the movie" (its also in 13 Part episodes here on youtube... Helsreach does some video things that I think you'll find amazing) If you want to delve into the lore before trying helsreach, Bricky's videos on the different factions and Arbitor Ian's video on the 40k lore in 20 min, are the quickest ways to have some idea of what's happening. (But those videos aren't cinematic at all. And nothing to analyze from "a film maker's" perspective)

If you like the Warhammer 40k setting, I can recommend you the books from the Black Library. They have hundreds of novels in the Wh40k universe, I personally bought 180+ so far. The Gaunt's Ghosts or Ragnar Blackmane books are very newbie friendly.
You should watch the animated film "Helsreach." The guy who animated it took the audiobook and reduced it from around twelve hours to just two and a half hours. The animation, though, is a real wonder to watch. It starts with hand-drawn style and gradually transitions to smoother animation as it approaches the present conflict on the planet of Armageddon. The changes in animation style, as someone pointed out, was to show Grimaldus' uncertain memory of events as they happened in the past compared to the crystal-clear memory of the Battle of Helsreach in the latter half of the book. Great writing by Aaron Demski-Bowden (who wrote the novel) and amazing editing for the animation.
Recommendation: Astartes part 1-5 is great, lots of interesting details in it Another cool one: World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth Cinematic Trailer
ASTARTES is near the top of my list, will be filming my reaction shortly. Lots of peeps have requested that one. I've not seen anything of the WoW universe so earger to see that too. Thank you for watching friend.
to recommend just a few to watch Astartes parts 1-5 I would just watch the upscaled remaster in 4k, dawn of war 3 trailer still one of the most epic to this day, arming of a space marine CG trailer is also really awesome animation
One is on my list of next cinematics to film. I'll have to check out the others you mentioned too. They sound great reading your comment. Thanks for watching and suggesting. KZ.
My favorite Space marine chapter is the Raven Guard.. Because they are totally different to other space marines.. They are sneaky and use guerilla tactics which standard space marines chapters do not use..
Nice, see boltgun is actually a sort of sequel to Space marine 1, its on the same planet and the events of SM1 are referenced. You have to check out the astartes parts 1 to 5, each part is a few minutes long. They where made by one person and is considered to be the standard for warhammer 40k videos.
I heard it was on the same planet, not that I've noticed from playing and from my knowledge of the lore. The standard!? I like that. If they are that short, I'll bulk them together. I hope you enjoy it once I've done it. ✌🏻
@kaizammit if you look on youtube, there is a compilation vid, theres also an upscaled 4-8k one., it is about 13 mins long. The original creator was then employed by Games Workshop to do their trailers and other animations. He then took down his channel because it contained sounds from the Dredd movie. Though GW and the original creator don't seem to have issues with the compilation videos that are still on YT.
I'll look out for the higher res version and hopefully, I get the correct one. You never know what's going to happen in life, amazing news for the filmmaker. He basically got his dream job by making something he loved and not for profit or a return. There's a life lesson in that mini story you just told me. Amazing! If you applied any of the filmmaking techniques I mention in these Filmmaker Reacts videos, you'd become a great filmmaker or novelist. I hope they inspire you or even at its simplest form, just entertain you. If you haven't already, please consider subscribing, I look forward to seeing your comments in my future videos, KZ.
I just realized guardsmen are rarely ever shown in media. It's always about the Astartes. Showing them side by side puts things into perspective. The average guardsman will NEVER see a space marine in his short lifespan so seeing one of these superhumans must be like seeing a demigod to them.
It's funny you talked about things changing for space marines over the past 10 years. They actually did, but for the 30 years before that, they hadn't. You came into the franchise at a very interesting time.
Great vid. Games Workshop shits the bed a lot, but I still like their stuff. Hopefully, you bringing attention to how great Astartes and this trailer were will help them realize how to make more good stuff. Keep it up, Kai!
I am very curious what you think about Astartes and hope you can pick it apart in its cinematography eventually, esp since it was from one guy i think Outside of WH40k and Blizzard, i would recommend Star Wars the old republic, Sacrifice then Betrayed in that order
I plan on doing story analysis (includes cinematography) on most videos going forward, it's kind of my thing plus I want to give you (the viewer) value even of you're not into filmmaking, what I discuss can be used for better photography or even writing. My reaction video for Diablo 4, (by Three they come), I don't actually like because it's just my reaction. I personally don't want to be like all the other RUclips channels that just react and offer nothing extra. I hope you enjoy my next filmmaker reacts! ✌🏻
Havent seen any comment mentioning this, so here goes. The gold studs on his forehead signify years of service in active combat for the Emperor. A silver stud is 20 or 50 years, depending on the chapter, but gold studs are always 100 years. Hence, this particular helmet-less Space Marine, has served on the battlefields of the Imperium, in active combat, for at least 400 years aat this point.
I am almost 100% positive that the Thunderhawk gunship entering through the cloud cover is a direct reference to the combat drop in "Aliens". Oh, and Cameron referenced himself with this and the shuttle approaching Pandora in "Avatar". The scene there looks even more similar to what we see here.
The combat drop sequence, that's an awesome reference. The only problem with the Aliens one is the shot is so far away. I loved what they did here, really get to see it going through. One of my favourite movies.
@@kaizammit One of my favourite movies too, and I bet it did a lot of inspire-work for 40K just by existing. I also want a Xenomorph-vs-Astartes crossover (are chainswords acid-resistant?).
Fella, you're asking the wrong person. I don't know much about 40K but my guess would be no. Reason I say that is due to making a character over powered. Sounds like a good idea though. Sign me up. KZ
@@kaizammit Okay, got me there. I didn't really mean that in a deadly serious way (that I want a crossover and if chainswords are acid-proof). You're right, 40K has mostly overpowered characters while the Alien stories feature weak humans. But the amount of grimdark and hopelessness exists in both, but in a different flavour.
To quote a lil something about Space Marines: "Nothing that big should be able to move that fast" - Imperial Guardsman seeing Space Marines in action for the first time. How fast is that? Faster than the naked human eye can perceive, in full Power Armor and carrying a Bolter or equivalent weapon. No, seriously, lorewise Space Marines can move so fast regular humans CANNOT SEE THEM WHILE FULLY ARMED AND ARMORED. And you can see in the trailer how much mass they are lugging around.
So the trailer is filled with Easter Eggs, the purple glow in the eyes of the Imperial Soldier indicates that he's from Cadia 😢😢😢 (Imperium Planet near the eye of chaos, a tear in real space and the warp, the planet basically got destroyed and everyone there is dead. They say the planet broke before the Cadian soldiers did. Cadian's are considered the best and the hardest amongst the "regular" humans... Also it's customary to always shed a few tears whenever Cadia is mentioned) The 4 golden dots on the commanders forehead indicate that he's been a space marine for over 400 years.t And there's some shenanigans with his imperial recommendations on his shoulders. I can't really make any sense of it, but I think he's been demoted???? Not sure someone else can probably tell better than me) Uhmm you'll LOVE analyzing: Warhammer 40,000: The New Edition Cinematic Trailer it came out a few months ago and it's actually more cinematic than this trailer
400 years! God damn! I love that you know so much about it. Funny you mentioned the eyes, I left me commenting on the colour on the editing room floor. I said something like, it must mean something but I don't have that knowledge. Thank you for watching and commenting, I felt like I learnt a lot about the 40K universe. Are you excited about playing Space Marine 2?
@@kaizammit Hell yeah I am! I'll play it, but i'm more of an RTS player, so secretly wishing they fix the Dawn if War series, but i'm not gonna hold my breath on that one. Thx for the vid. I don't actually know that much about the space marines themselves. I tend to gravitate towards the Adeptus Mechanicus lore (the tech priest faction) During the lockdowns i kind of decided to start my hand at the black library (500+ books. I basically started with anything relating to the Mechanicus. After that i'll go for Horus Heresy (50 books))
You are a brave person! Little bit of Kai Zammit lore for you (EXCLUSIVE), my first ever book was Dawn of War. Loved that game when I was younger. Glad to hear its name again.
"They're massive..." Yeah, a Space Marine in WH40k is at minimum ~2,20m but the average is about 2,50 and sometimes upwards. Those guys by themselves wear about 300-400kg (pure enhanced muscles and strenghened bones) ... with their standard Powerarmor those guys weigh about a ton. The only thing I don't like about the trailer is, when they jump out of the Thunderhawk (Spaceship) I'd expect way more oompf and damage to the floortiles. As said there are 3 Marines, each weighting a bit over a ton jumping from roughly 20m height? Love your reactions and analyzes, the rabbithole of WH is so frickin deep, you'll love it ^_^
Thank you so much for watching ! I'll be covering all the cutscenes to Space Marine 2 over the weekend, should be a lot of fun! Obviously play it yourself first but hopefully you come back
I still think Warhammer: Dawn of War 3 & Warhammer: The Horus Heresy, are incredible trailers that you would appreciate. On another note: Helsreach, that story will hit you right in the feels. Fantastic insight from your perspective. 🙏🤝
Dawn of War and The Horus Heresy cinematics are in my breakdown list. They will come but just take time to make. Helreach is on my reaction and thoughts list. I'm going to be doing that one soon. Just trying to figure out if I need to cut it up. Two hours long right? Thanks for watching my video fella. KZ
@@kaizammit From your content perspective Helsreach is a slow burn, break it down how you see fit. 👍 Wishing you all the success, kind sir. Subscribed. 👍🤝
Yo for a bit of context if you havent heard there is a new type of space marine kinda... There are the primaris marines which are the regular space marines but like better in every way bigger stronger and with a different (and in my opinion cooler) design.
I've watched this trailer like 6 times now, purely to examine the various details. It is rather too gory for my tastes, but the Space Marines look so epic. Also, I'm in total agreement about the Transformers. I want to see the bots, not the humans XD
It is confirmed that Captain Titus is making his return and has become a Primaris Space Marine. The game takes place in Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000 universe and features the Ultramarines chapter of Space Marines...hence why they were so big
Wait, so it's canon that "regular" space marines can be converted to primaris? I thought the whole primaris schtick was grand papa smurf waking up from his nap and revealing order 66 kind of thing
@@harrodharrod5239 The biggest breakthroughs of all, however, were the surgeries that allowed Firstborn Space Marines not matured with the three Primaris organs to be implanted with them. Arguably first braved by Marneus Calgar, Chapter Master of the Ultramarines, this extremely dangerous set of surgical and genetic enhancement procedures known as crossing the "Rubicon Primaris" lasts for solar days.
I'm surprised that you didn't notice how large the marines were in the Astartes series. In the very first episode, as they were marching down the corridor, you could see the tiny little humans sliding past them on the right.
Having _just_ watched your review of the Astartes project. The comment about a lot of Dutch angles makes me wonder if the Astartes Creator worked on this.
I definitely think he helped or suggested things with production. They also did crash zooms in and out which emphasised the movement and weight. After seeing Astartes, now looking back, I can see his influence or the team were inspired by Astartes. KZ
My only issue with this was the tyrranids "recoiling" in fear as the space marine grunts arrived. Hormagaunts are not driven by self preservation, they're driven to consume everything they can lay their claws on by the hive mind, only using the tyrranid warriors as "hive beacons" to "guide" their destruction, keep the swarm "organized". So a little "off-lore" for cinematography sake, but still sick.
Hey i just found your channel and I gotta say that I love your reactions and analysis. Youre doing great work man, youve earned yourself a subscriber! I recommend watching Battle for Azeroth Cinematic Trailer from World of Warcraft. Still gives me goosebumps. Keep up the good work man!
New to your channel, loving your reactions to some of my hobbies. I wanted to also suggest checking out Warhammer 40,000: The New Edition Cinematic Trailer. I can see its already been mentioned a few times in the comments already, but judging from your post history, I have no doubts that you will be a fan of it. Enjoy the adventure!
Check out Hells Reach Warhammer movie. May be too long for a video but worth watching if you like to see a story about a different chapter of the Space Marines.
I'm currently working on a way for me to create content covering long videos/features. It's also my life/production schedules. I wouldn't break it down as intense as I do in these videos, more as I watch along. Would you as a viewer be happy with something like that?
@@kaizammit the announcement trailer for total war warhammer 3 is prolly the best one visually, but I think all the trailers from the series are good. There’s a video that has them all in order but it’s pretty long
Im admittedly a bit of a novice, but the only part i didn't think worked in this, was the lesser tyranids shirking back in fear. I thought tyranids were incapable of feeling fear?
Actually if the lesser tyranids aren't controlled by a stronger element of the hive mind, like a warrior, then they can be broken and they can flee. Their ability to resist breaking is entirely dependent on the strength of the ranking hive mind creature. They will almost never break while a Tyrant is in proximity. You'll notice they only backed up a little until the warrior actually drove them forward. So not so much fear as the hesitation and confusion of the more powerful space marines arriving.
It took years to me to understand the amazing lore of 40k, and that was only possible thanks to the Adeptus Ridiculous channel. I recommend if you wish the understand the universe a little better. Just go the the oldest videos and make your way until the most recent ones.
I'm gonna go against the norm here and say *don't* watch a bunch of other 40k stuff unless you're really into it. 40k fans are like sleeper agents, and once you start getting into 40k the comments will probably recommend nothing but 40k until you stop. It messes up some channels because their viewership can essentially become tied to 40k content, and when one's interest in watching 40k non-stop dries up, so does the viewership. It sounds like you really enjoy it, so I hope you enjoy this niche little hobby. The Emperor protects.
I love what I've seen of the 40K universe but I also enjoy the fact that I can break away. In my industry, you learn this very quickly. I'm still learning the RUclips thing but I've got other worlds and stories to see. Thank you for your honesty and looking out for the channels growth, I appreciate it. Please consider subscribing so you can help shape the channel. Cheers, KZ.
Absolutely, hopefully from what I've read, it's given GW enough time to buck up its idea. Once Mr Cavil has made this amazon show, it will see another spike. Thanks for watching. KZ
you never played to Space Marine one. Else, when you see his face for the first time you would have exploded. It's captain Titus from first space marine game. back 20 year after the first one. You can see it because of 4 metal circles in his top head. And with a major difference. He seem very very angry in comparaison to the first episode. This put more than big difference. After the introduction is very cool but after seing the first episode when he jump from sub orbital jet to an ork flying barge with a reactor backpack, this intro is a little.... soft. When you comment they are tall...indead it's space marine... imagine a big catch guy like Dave Bautista.... 10-30 cm higher with an armor and here you have a space marine.
He was taken away for the fact that he was able to withstand the warp and chaotic ruinous powers and survive and still "seem" untainted. You cant do that unless you're a heretic apparently
But he's not a heretic right? Is that one of those silly rules that normally brings down a civilization? The hero that is on the cusp of doing both things.
@@kaizammit not a heretic but the guy that was with him was pretty legalistic about what the codex says about the rules of fighting against Chaos. Long story short. Codex is a set of rules but honestly. The Greater Good is bad because that's Tau talk
I like to think of it as a short story or short film. Took me out of reality for a few minutes which I was grateful for. This very much got me excited to play the new Space Marine game. Thanks for watching, KZ.
KZ
@@kaizammit Helmet and shoulders are the big indicators
Also the time between Space Marine 1 and 2 is over 200 years. The metal bits on his forehead are called service studs, gold for 100 years, silver for 50 years. So he's been in active duty for 400 years now. 😅
Definately check out the Astartes fanmade thing, the person who made it really put alot of effort and information into each and every second of that whole thing.
Now that he's been hired by games workshop I wonder if he's had any influence on future cinematics
I've just watched the Summer gamesfest trailer for Space Marine 2, sounds like the "captain's" if that is correct still don't trust him and you say this is 200 years after the first one?? Whats your boy gotta do to win back his team mates!?!

@@kaizammit This was clearly made (later) by the same guy.
I really like that about the character. KZ
Because aß gar as i know He was with Special anti xenos marines in the teohundret jears since sp1
Ultramarines probably know more about Tyranids than most since multiple of their 500 planets was devoured by one of the hive fleets. They hold a grudge, ya know.

@@kaizammit I'd even go as far as to say it's a step up. They took it up a notch with that one.
8ft = 2.45
Yeah absolute massive, they've got like 19 extra organs (the primaris have more)
Not sure if i like the pramaris to be honest.... But let's see where the story goes. Recently picked up this old love of mine after like 10 years. Started reading Belicarius Cawl book
Primaris marines are garbage tier lore.
@@FrejthKing why? As I said I've recently returned after a almost 10 yesr hiatus so Primaris i new to me.
@@jacthing1 We can only hope he got the Imperial Fisting.
I like the way you explained that! KZ
Having the spire fall as they look out over the city sends the message that the city is falling
2:03 did you notice that they jump in order 2,3,1 but they land in order 2,1,3?
No I haven't...crazy. KZ
You really feel the weight of these Spacemarines, impressive
After watching, you now know why. ✌🏻
You want more? The Astartes mini-series, the 9th edition, 10th edition and Horus Heresy trailers.
I'm planning on doing a Filmmaker Reacts very soon on the Astartes short films, keep an eye out, KZ.
A live action one you say, interesting... I might have to add that to the list. Thanks fella! KZ
@@kaizammit It's very low budget but that gives it some charm I think. Boylan then went on to do a great multi-part animated series based on 40k's Helsreach novel, and I believe that is currently working with GW on their Angels of Death Blood Angels series.
Wicked! I'll have to give it a shot and that's great to hear. As long as the story is good, budget restraints can be forgiven. KZ
@@kaizammit I think I'm gonna enjoy your work! 😁
3:38 ... when you said hes face ... not sure how much you know - but that guy served for 400 years ...
Thanks to you guys (the viewers) I now know this information. I didn't at the time of recording but thank you for confirming.

Helsreach does some video things that I think you'll find amazing)
If you want to delve into the lore before trying helsreach, Bricky's videos on the different factions and Arbitor Ian's video on the 40k lore in 20 min, are the quickest ways to have some idea of what's happening. (But those videos aren't cinematic at all. And nothing to analyze from "a film maker's" perspective)

“That was the quickest 2 minutes and 30 seconds I’ve ever witnessed”
You’re just asking for it with that one
Yea I'm going to have to play this. Great trailer!
Astarte's all parts is a must see
It's actually at the top of my list so expect it sooner rather than later ✌🏻, thanks for watching!
I can literally only hear “I’m still standing” sang by a space marine over this video
Cpt. Titus was the person we played in Space Marine 1.
So many people are hyped about seeing him again.
Have you ever seen Astartes?
The witcher 3 : killing monsters + A night to remember cinematics
Alright, I'll add them to the list, keep an eye on the channel for when they drop. ✌🏻
If you like the Warhammer 40k setting, I can recommend you the books from the Black Library.
They have hundreds of novels in the Wh40k universe, I personally bought 180+ so far.
The Gaunt's Ghosts or Ragnar Blackmane books are very newbie friendly.
This is basically the Guardsman short amp'd up, you should give that a watch if you have 5 mins spare.
Recommendation: Astartes part 1-5 is great, lots of interesting details in it
Another cool one: World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth Cinematic Trailer
ASTARTES is near the top of my list, will be filming my reaction shortly. Lots of peeps have requested that one. I've not seen anything of the WoW universe so earger to see that too. Thank you for watching friend.
What the guardsman whispered was "His Angels" as spacemarines are The emperors Angels of death, absolute beasts
to recommend just a few to watch Astartes parts 1-5 I would just watch the upscaled remaster in 4k, dawn of war 3 trailer still one of the most epic to this day, arming of a space marine CG trailer is also really awesome animation
The armor is so gorgeous. The miniatures really don't do the design justice.
Dutch angles ... we got our boy flexing again from Astartes. Loving it.
They call them the Emperor's Angels for good reason.
Would be more fun to play a guardsman tbh
It's funny you talked about things changing for space marines over the past 10 years. They actually did, but for the 30 years before that, they hadn't. You came into the franchise at a very interesting time.
Great vid. Games Workshop shits the bed a lot, but I still like their stuff. Hopefully, you bringing attention to how great Astartes and this trailer were will help them realize how to make more good stuff. Keep it up, Kai!
Thank you so much, it really means a lot. Glad you enjoyed my video, plenty more to come so stick with the channel. KZ ✌️
Have you seen the Warhammer 40k Full Movie Cinematic with the Sisters of Battle and Space Marines fighting the Necrons? That's pretty good too.
No I haven't, I should probably add it to the list. Thanks!
I am very curious what you think about Astartes and hope you can pick it apart in its cinematography eventually, esp since it was from one guy i think
Outside of WH40k and Blizzard, i would recommend Star Wars the old republic, Sacrifice then Betrayed in that order
Is that why they don't wear helmets to show that off?
@@kaizammit the "not wearing a helmet" thing, is mostly so we can recognize characters with immense plot armor xD
Nice!
The golden studs on his forehead mean 100 years of services each, so 400 years.
If i not mistaken,i belive this is the same person that did the astaris serious on youtube
I've just realised, isn't that what the tyranids are? A xenomorph with mass in numbers.
Lovely reaction, mate. 10th ED cinematic next?
I will get to it, I promise! Thank you for watching ✌🏻 KZ
Would love to see your breakdown of the Warhammer 9th Edition Trailer!
I've got that on my list for the breakdown videos so hopefully sooner rather than later. I hope you enjoy it. KZ
Also it's customary to always shed a few tears whenever Cadia is mentioned)
The 4 golden dots on the commanders forehead indicate that he's been a space marine for over 400 years.t And there's some shenanigans with his imperial recommendations on his shoulders. I can't really make any sense of it, but I think he's been demoted???? Not sure someone else can probably tell better than me)
Uhmm you'll LOVE analyzing: Warhammer 40,000: The New Edition Cinematic Trailer
it came out a few months ago and it's actually more cinematic than this trailer
400 years!
I tend to gravitate towards the Adeptus Mechanicus lore (the tech priest faction)
During the lockdowns i kind of decided to start my hand at the black library (500+ books.
On to Helsreach.
Obviously play it yourself first but hopefully you come back
Have you seen the 9th Edition Trailer yet? that one's pretty sweet too.
they are the Emperor's angels of death, to a guardsman that is literally what they are angels of god
You can totally use the term "trailer shot" since this is a trailer for a video game
I think the guy who made the 'Astartes' series was hired by GW before this was made. I don't know for sure, but he might have had a hand in this too.
Regarding viewing things from human perspective - there's Darktide. I think You'll like the intro. REJECTS WILL RISE!!
I still think Warhammer: Dawn of War 3 & Warhammer: The Horus Heresy, are incredible trailers that you would appreciate.
On another note: Helsreach, that story will hit you right in the feels.

KZ
You need to react to the 40k 9th and 10th edition cinematics
Now, the 5-part Astartes.
"Really wanna get invested"
Oh boi...oh boi oh boi oh boi...
Bricky, Lutein, Baldemort, TTS
React to it; Good luck; you're welcome
Are these cinematics or narrative lead content? KZ
These guys are Primaris Marines, Space Marines 2.0, that's why they're bigger

Check out Hells Reach Warhammer movie. May be too long for a video but worth watching if you like to see a story about a different chapter of the Space Marines.

@@kaizammit the announcement trailer for total war warhammer 3 is prolly the best one visually, but I think all the trailers from the series are good. There’s a video that has them all in order but it’s pretty long
I'll check out the most popular one and go from there. Thanks for the recommendation, peeps like you are shaping the channel and I love it! Cheers.
Im admittedly a bit of a novice, but the only part i didn't think worked in this, was the lesser tyranids shirking back in fear. I thought tyranids were incapable of feeling fear?
I love that part but then again, I don't know the lore. For me, it amped up the power of the marines. KZ
Don't be sad. I am hat book 37 and it's still like scratching the surface of this monstrosity called WH40k
It took years to me to understand the amazing lore of 40k, and that was only possible thanks to the Adeptus Ridiculous channel. I recommend if you wish the understand the universe a little better. Just go the the oldest videos and make your way until the most recent ones.
Ironically, Boltgun is an unofficial sequel to the game this is the official sequel to (let's call it a mid-quel).
Could you do Battle for Azeroth Cinematic Intro?
It's near the top of my list so very soon.
It's kinda cool, but the you learn that 40K is the year and it's supposed to be 38,000 years in the future and this is the best they can come up with.
Just funny that Thunderhawk can hold like 20-40 marines and only 3 drop out....
Cheers, KZ.
they are diffrent becuse they are primaris marines its an (upgraded) form of space marine
War hammer 40K mod In mortal kombat😂😂
it only took about 35 years for people to realize 40k exists but better late than never I guess.

Man i am so tired of the tyranids id much more like them to have like dark eldar or chaos
Am I the only one thinking that helmet is way too big for the guardsman?
Added comm kit? Seeing as he was the one with the vox caster
it's just a trailer though, I don't mean to sound angry but it's hyping up the new game, not a movie or anything, the cinematic stuff will be good
I like to think of it as a short story or short film. Took me out of reality for a few minutes which I was grateful for. This very much got me excited to play the new Space Marine game. Thanks for watching, KZ.
Brother your face cam too large.
