Hey, so I have an RP3 and I'm also in queue for steam deck. I rarely ever game on the go, as I live in a city where you drive everywhere and I'm always the one driving. I do travel sometimes, but I have a fiber connection at home so I could feasibly remotely stream all this stuff as long as a hotel I'm in has a strong enough connection. I honestly got the RP3 for my wife to play retro titles, but after playing around with the remote streaming, I'm seriously considering passing on the Steam Deck. Between the size, heat, battery life, pricing, and fan noise, not to mention reduced settings to run the same games natively, I'm really questioning if Steam Deck is the way to go here. Am I overthinking this? Do you have a steam deck, and if so do you find yourself using it far less now? Can't decide what to do here!
How about old Dos games and ZX Spectrum. I am having a hard time deciding if I buy the Retroid 3 because the larger screen over the Retroid 2+, my eyes are getting older.
I buy these things to have backups of my physical retro collection and to be able to have more ways to play. I could really care less about streaming Modern games and the dependencies that come with it. I like it simple but I'm old-school like many others.
Hi ETA. I'm thinking of getting a machine for both cloud/stream (Xbox/Steam) and retro emulation. My options are (1) this (RP3) - or - (2) a Samsung Galaxy S20 FE (SD 865 6GB RAM) paired with a Gamesir x2 Pro (which you also reviewed). I'm not going to use the S20 FE as a phone at all, strickly for mobile gaming as i can get it quite cheap. The RP3 will cost me $180 CAD while the S20/Gamsir combo $200 in total. Given they're within the same price range, would you suggest the RP3 or phone/controller combo?
Anybody having problems mapping the buttons for the RP3. I managed to link it to my laptop and it mirrors the gameplay well, but I can't seem to get the buttons to work on my RP3
So I got the RP2. I hated that there was too much to configure after I thought I had the time to tinker and update the OS. Now I have an RP2 with no games. Do you have a rec for something that just works well out the box without much tinkering? Or something that is easy to put your own roms?
I have a question sir. If you stream in moonlight from pc to phone. If you open a game in your phone will your pc also open it? Because if I stream and play in my phone my pc will also play. 🙏🏻
Whats the pov on your pc when you’re moonlight streaming? Showing the same display as your handheld device? You cant use your pc while moonlight streaming?
Would love to hear from someone who has experience game streaming on a phone and also the RP3. I use a Xbox series s controller with my iPhone XR right now, wondering if the RP3 would be a significant upgrade from that

the rp2+ (and 3 since theyre the same device) can aqbsolutely run most game cube games, and about half the ps2 games, a small number of wii games and almost all psp games
Does ps remote play really work with the controls?
How do you enable the use of the RP3’s buttons when using the PS Remote play app?
When I receive my RP3 I will definitely try streaming as well. Actually, I have already a UM560 minipc and I plan to install holo iso onto it and use it as steam link host for higher end emulation and light pc games. I hope this works out in the end 🙏
16.9” screen? This thing is yuuuuge!! :)
16.9 is the aspect ratio, the screen is 4.7”
Nice! Thanks Prime!
The design on this one is neat.
Nice use for this one. Steam Deck for heavy lifting here, but RG350m still gets plenty of play for SNES and below
How do you configure remote play to use the retroid buttons?
Loading up Witcher 3 streaming-wise on RP3+ is all good and dandy, but can one even read the texts without hurting one's eyes and brain? For an RPG goers, the ability to read the texts is extremely crucial.
Hi, how do you make Playstation Remote Play recognize the RP3 buttons so the app virtual buttons don't show up on screen? Thanks.
6:18 for me only touch controls work. I can't seem to control the Playstation with my retroid pocket controller. What is different here?
Maybe it's just me but latency on my network with my Nvidia GPU is like 500ms. Cloud streaming is always better.
Nice quality upgrade!
I'm interested to see how well Stadia runs on the device.
Curious ETA what do you think of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 as a emulation device? Can you review please 😁 love your videos!
Did you not get an Ayn Odin? Like I know this is cheaper, but I swear I remember you using one...
Did you use the official PS Remote App? No issues with physical buttons? App usually doesnt work without a PS5 controller.
How good is this at playing android games?
Should I get this or ayn Odin?
So you didn't need the 3rd party PSPlay app to use the Retroid controls with PS Remote play. I thought the official remote play app does nto support 3rd party controls?
nice, moonlight - check the decoding performance next time aswell ;)
Not really interested in streaming games, more so interested in emulation on this thing
Hmm I do wonder if this uses discarded Apple displays. As far as I'm aware those are the only 4.7 inch ips 1334x750 displays produced.
Edit: don't mean that in a negative way, those are awesome panels.
Having a powerful pc at home and alone slow but with fast network handheld is the future of electronics. Having bleeding edge technology in handheld is like shooting yourself in the leg
I wish I was as optimistic as you I think it's going to end up with a bunch of companies streaming exclusive games so if you want to play everything you need to subscribe to five or six different streaming services. Just wait until EA and Ubisoft start their own streaming services.
Wouldn't the Odin be a better device for streaming PC titles?
i tried steam link and it was garbage thank you for sharing moonlight, lets see how it goes
Thanks for testing moonlight! But if you can._..try it at 120fps with a fold 3 or other 120fps device, even a iPad Pro. It is super awesome getting 1440p 120fps. No other streaming does 120 fps and high res
There's always a deal breaker with these handhelds. This one is the triggers
They're not bad, very decent
I canceled my preorder after taki udons video.
I'd recommend waiting for a 3+
How do you get ps remote play controls to work with the retro 3 plus control? The touchscreen controls pops up for me an i can’t figure out how to change it.
I've noticed steam link is kind of slower than moonlight for me and it automatically configured my controller and everything right away started playing the only thing is running ultrawide on smartphone was great until it crashes u fortunately I guess since gotta stay with 16 by 9. On xcloud I get a lot of artifacts I mean it runs decently but yeah there get blurry fuzzy picture
I got it running on my 3 plus the ps remote play but can't figure out how to get the 3 plus controls to work.. it's only allows me to use touch screen
I managed to link it to my laptop and it mirrors the gameplay well, but I can't seem to get the buttons to work on my RP3
how does the stream work? Like does it have to be playing on my stream on my pc to stream it to the retro? or does it only run it off my wifi?
Wait for the retroid pocket 4, it might have the dpad below the analog again one day
does it feel good in fps games?
this is so good!!! im looking for a client for my headless gaming vm!!
So I got the RP2. I hated that there was too much to configure after I thought I had the time to tinker and update the OS. Now I have an RP2 with no games. Do you have a rec for something that just works well out the box without much tinkering? Or something that is easy to put your own roms?
0:50 sixteen point nine inches screen!?!?!??!
16.9 inch? You wanted to say 16:9 aspect ratio. 16.9" is larger than most laptops. :)
I have a question sir. If you stream in moonlight from pc to phone. If you open a game in your phone will your pc also open it? Because if I stream and play in my phone my pc will also play. 🙏🏻
How did you get the PS remote play to recognize the controllers on the Retorid?? I tried mapping them but it's not the same..
I have the same question….
@@whochun did anyone figure out how to do this? It’s driving me crazy.
@@Samsonite1993 psplay app or Chiaki
@@Samsonite1993 did you find a solution? I'm having the same issue
Whats the pov on your pc when you’re moonlight streaming? Showing the same display as your handheld device? You cant use your pc while moonlight streaming?
Would love to hear from someone who has experience game streaming on a phone and also the RP3. I use a Xbox series s controller with my iPhone XR right now, wondering if the RP3 would be a significant upgrade from that
This is even better "Price Wise" than what sony will release.
So I can’t play Xbox or pc games without Wi-Fi? So only at the house ? Damn I would be in love w this if I could play anywhere
Can you remote play into Xbox ?
Could you add parsec to streaming services list?
I totally forgot about that one. I’ll add it to the list.
Hey ETA have you tried out parsec with this? You can set up your desktop PC with playnite or bigger box and stream all your games to the pocket and make it a full fledged arcade/game console.
Parsec is terrible compared to moonlight. And can’t do more than 60 fps.
@@myaccount__7269 but parsec can be used as a remote desktop. Which means you can stream bigger box or play night. Then it can be controlled like a console
Is this the official ps remote play app or is it ps play? As didnt think the controls worked with the official app
