Yup. Even though there's very little probability I will buy this device, the swappable battery deserves a genuine praise especially considering not even laptops do this anymore.
$869 USD as shown w/ 16GB/512GB, "8 left". $1699 after the kickstarter, which is nearly over. $1049 for a more reasonable 32GB/1TB, 10 left. $2054 after the kickstarter. Easily the most expensive 8840U/780M setup with or without the AR glasses.
I feel like the post kickstarter pricing is just them assuming there will be leftover unsold stock and thus making the price really aggressive to account for that.
If you're going to buy this, I'd recommend the controller only for less than $600, and combining it with a Quest 3s or 3. Quest has the most advanced true AR available on the market, and you'll have a better warranty.
@MisterUrbanWorld They've listed less than 400 units total on the kickstarter, with a handful left. At double the launch price, doubtful it matters, but yes, that would make more sense.
I know it’s expensive but can we take a second to appreciate how amazing this really is? ITS A CONTROLLER WITH AN ENTIRE GAMING PC BUILT IN! That’s absolutely incredible 😮
It is genuinely cool. Like, if I went back 14 years and showed this to my younger self, my mind would've been blown. However, we're spoiled by choice and so I think the form factor is very limiting... which is honestly a deal breaker. I think the sweet spot for mobile gaming is a handheld + those display glasses.
That is absolutely astounding. I predicted a lot of current tech, but could have never guessed they'd put a console in a controller. Absolute genius. This is the future
Being field work engineer, I can imagine using this device especially coupled with the AR glasses not even for gaming but for data collection/survey. Using handheld devices on a sunny day looking down in the phone screen is tiresome but if this had GPS sensors and a good battery life, or even run android on it then I could totally see myself use this!
I was telling someone that this is what i thought the steamdeck 2 should be a few weeks back! just make it a pc that can plug into a display! But putting a pair of ar glasses included thats awesome!
Love the idea of this. For watching movies and gaming without being distracted by my household and without distracting them this is the answer I was always looking for
I have been following this project since their first announcement. It is a bit pricey for me, not expensive product but i am broke. My only complaint is that I would like more IO.
I absolutely love that they are trying to do something interesting and different here. I wouldn't choose this over any of the other major handheld options at this price, but I will always give extra points when a company tries to do something unique. especially when they don't make it feel like a cheap tack-on gimmick.
I love the swappable battery on this, itd be cool if they made a charging dock for multiple batteries so then you could have any that you purchase charged up during downtime so then they are just ready to go.
Item itself looks great, I just wish they didn't use a fake countdown timer on the kickstarter page telling you there's an impending price increase soon.
Wow. Me and a friend had the same idea with "Nimbus". Our mistake was taking our idea to reddit lol "impossible" Glad someone did their own thing. Looks great
They need to sell a dock of some kind that allows you to plug in batteries. So you can run one battery out, switch it, and continue playing while you charge both batteries. Either by using the dock of sorts while plugging the controller in. It can also be a dock to charge the controller with the battery in it too
Imagine going over to a friend's house and bringing this over. And he's like "Oh you wanna plug that into the computer?" and you're like "oh nah man it's fine, all I need to do is plug in these glasses and I'll be on cod with you in no time"
I am very interested in this. I always thought a "headless" steam deck with video glasses would be a great way to game as it would save a lot on weight that you have to hold and possibly use less battery.
I wonder if you can mount a small portable screen as big as the controller and mount it up ontop of the controller/pc with a plastic mount and then connect that monitor and use a usb-c hub thats stripped down for only usb-c for power and hdmi for video signal and audio if you can
How do you switch from game launcher to Windows 11 desktop? This would be ideal for traveling. Bring a bluetooth folding keyboard/trackpad combo and the AR glasses and work or game on an airplane or in the hotel, wherever. Even plug it in a conference room for a power point. Also, how much does it weigh? Sorry if you said. Didn't see it on the website.
The kickstarter pricing is decent, but super limited the full release pricing removes any reason to choose this over any combination of HMD+Handheld PC. The pocket go and HMD is $1699 to $2054 at their full price. Compared to say, the Rog Ally X + 512GB Quest 3 at $799 and $499 respectively for a combined total of $1298 that put's this combo at less than the lower spec version of the pocket go + HMD at its full price, and only $219 more than the higher spec version at it's 'super early bird' price. The Ally+Quest combo also opens up a wider range of playability options, adding full VR experiences on top of just the simulated huge TV experience. So as much as I think this whole thing is cool, I just can't justify the price, even knowing they are small batch devices that can't take advantage of the economy of scale.
Don't let that cousin play that likes to toss controllers when angry!! This thing is pretty cool though. Just imagine when the joysticks start driving and you have to plug another controller into your controller lol
Can you use it as just a controller (or controller with external storage)? Curious what it's usability will be when the computer is outdated or dies for some reason.
I'd gladly give up ruble, if it meant filling those grips with battery for an extra 20-40wh depending on how much space is already used/needed to maintain structure Edit: One thing this means is that with the built in battery, a battery swap wouldnt require shutting down the computer as long as the internal battery is not drawn from until the removable battery is drained.
I just couldn't imagine using this anywhere but home so it kind of defeats the point of a handheld for me. Imagine pulling this out at the train station or while waiting for an appointment. 😂 I do like the swappable battery though I wish other UMPCs did this. That would really help with the poor battery situations with these devices.
If you're going to buy this, I'd recommend the controller only for less than $600, and combining it with a Quest 3s or 3. Quest has the most advanced true AR available on the market, and you'll have a better warranty.

Great idea, but unfortunately too expensive! My only question would be are AR glasses proprietary? If I plug in another brand will the software detect I am not using their glasses? I know the connector may be physically compatible, but they can control it to be their hardware.
I think this idea has potential but it doesn't seem practical right now. Not every monitor supports display over usb and not having the freedom of choice over the controller you're using is kind of a drawback. Might as well throw a mini PC and a controller in your backpack and have the cables and power supplies at the locations you're gonna use it.
Wow i just threw away (and many others) my ps4 controller that was worn af from just GoW... id hate to throw out a hole pc. Can you replace the Joysticks, Faceplate, and Buttons? Is it repairable?
There are so many bot comments here lol; No one is that excited for this. It's a cute idea but the price vs performance is not worth it when you can connect VR glasses to any other gaming unpc. If it had a screen on a hinge at least that would be like a PC version of the Nvidia Shield.
The biggest plus I see to this is being able to use your own screen hardware easily. These glasses are growing in popularity, you can buy 5-7 inch panels pretty cheap and mount it yourself. I also dislike this attitude that people see something niche and just say it's bad.
@@Durkhead yeah ETA prime showcases a ton of niche hardware that's suspended expensive, usually comes with a lot of generic and bland comments, doesn't mean their bots.
Had to come back and explain why these mini pc that support egpu are so important. i dont have space for a full size desktop in my room, with the um890 pro it fits on my shelf under my tv is mounted on wall 65 inch, this way i can plug my egpu and and its small enough to fit in my room hopefully without having to sacrifice any power, also i had no pc before i had steam deck. so i was new to the pc world and i was able to purchase the um890 and play right away while i saved up for the graphics card that was just amazin i didnt have to shell out 2000 dollars right away to get a comprehensive playable rig. I hope the ai 370 will at least have the option to add a oculink port in the future as for me this is a must have, id prefer to do it this way, plus not having an encase egpu with rgb is just so cool. please minis forum add oculink to ai 370,
This is the future of gaming technology... they have own store online to download there game on there devices... great❤❤❤ but this is way too expensive than ps5 pro🤔
OOF, not a fan of this, if controller unit was somehow able to be disconnected it could be useful. But this way when the controller breaks you're straight up going to have a really bad time, the device may be unusable, while with a mini-pc you could just connect another controller. I guess you can still connect another controller to this thing... but it's weird as heck, would be much better as a two-part thing with a small detachable compute unit
Hey Mr Prime, I'm Benjamin from the project Handheld Companion and I was wondering if you could help us get in touch with Tecno to provide day1 support for their device ? Regards, Ben
I use the Rokid Max with my gaming PC but with a device running the older 8840u games won't look good on the bigger screen since we will have to use FSR to upscale games to 1080p and low graphical settings on modern game, i tried with Ally X and it wasn't very good, the concept is good but we need better performance, since it is just a controller with no display it would be great if they just put an RTX 4050 in there and no battery at all requiring either an external 100W battery bank or connect to the cable, cause after all that 50Wh battery won't last more than an hour in AAA games
They took "plug n play" Way too seriously
truly went all the way to 11 !
😂
Easy swappable battery is one of the plus point for this device, not much of modern tech do this anymore.
Yup. Even though there's very little probability I will buy this device, the swappable battery deserves a genuine praise especially considering not even laptops do this anymore.

I wish they put a screen in the middle.
I was saying a few weeks back i wish they would make a steam deck without a screen my prayers have been answered!!
This is basically what Virtual Boy wanted to be.
These amd mini PCs are getting pretty nutty

that! and my first system was a tv scoreboard. Look that one up! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

The swappable battery is killer.
It seemed really hard to conceptualize until I realized that it's basically just a normal handheld without the big screen in the middle.
These are the things people long long time ago would think of as the future, and honestly I've gotta agree with them

Interested in how Emulation works on this Pocket Go and what is the highest system we can emulate on it.
It would be nice if they made a specific dock for it, in case you may want to connect your own controller if it gets too hot or heavy over time

Ah, the "AR galsses", looks premium
This is what they were using in the anime dot hack. Crazy how the anime came out in 2002. 2 decades later and it finally came true

This thing is pretty cool though. Just imagine when the joysticks start driving and you have to plug another controller into your controller lol
I think playing Re-Volt or Screw Drivers would feel like driving a real RC car.
I want them to make a even simpler model that is just a box that only has a battery so we can plug in the glasses and our own controller
