I think the most useful feature is you can bring the camera to 30m deep underwater without the hassle of high-end camera with a waterproof casing. As a casual diver, I love to bring this camera along just to take few pictures underwater
I recently purchased one and found out that, ig you want to shoot in any advanced mode, you’d better read the 300-page user manual. I’ve been in photography for 6o years and have 3 other Nikon SLRs FX and DX which took no time to master. It’s damn maddening when uou get all set up for a nice cideo sequence, to have the camera stop after a 10 second clip. I also find that the flash has very limited reach. So far, I use it as a snapshot camera, despite all of the features and I phone that my phone is just as good. My wish is to “grow” in this $500 toy, if I ever find time to read the 300 pages of the advanced manual
I really want it to have a housing for W300 camera. Even you can bring it under for the deep down 30 Metres, But the housing can extend the life time of the camera. My previous aw130 died after 20M dive in Andaman sea. It worked well underwater but I found a little amount of water leaked into the screen after I went up to the surface. It must be better if I had a housing to use in that dive.
I don't have a ton of experience with waterproof cameras, but usually camera companies only rate their cameras a waterproof for a certain amount of time. You can probably order new gaskets for it and replace them occasionally. It's also important to clean them after each underwater adventure. Even a little bit of dust can compromise a seal.
my nikon aw 130 just died in the caribbean i am not sure what killed it ha ha ha i was shooting in the ocean 87f and the air 89 f now looking to replace it and most of the cameras come up short on either the mega pixels or no gps or wifi or some other things missing this camera has all and then some more so i will wait for the sales to come this fall and get it richard in the tropics
There is a jog dial on the back of the camera. Also, if you don't have a manual it is avaible as a PDF on Nikon's website downloadcenter.nikonimglib.com/en/products/354/COOLPIX_W300.html
It's not a small camera, so I'm not sure how any type of head strap would work in practice. It has the usual tripod connection (1/4th-20), which I'd imagine pretty much anything to could connect to with the right adapters.
It appears to be in stock at B&H: bhpho.to/3kqkd2B Here is the adapter on Nikon's website: www.nikonusa.com/en/nikon-products/product/power-chargers/mh-65-battery-charger.html Though it is out of stock on there.
I have this camera. How did you get it to work? Every time I use the timelapse function, it just says "saving" until the battery is exhausted. Then, the files are invalid.
@@ScottJWaldron thanks. Yes. It takes all the pictures & appears to work fine. When its dine, it just says saving on the screen until the battery dies. Then when I charge it, it says all the files are invalid. How long does it take to save on your camera once it finishes taking the photos? Everything else on the camera works perfectly
@@sunsetatshabooms4558 Sorry, I don't know. I only used the camera for a short time to make this video. You should contact the official support of Nikon wherever you live.
hello, thanks a lot for the video. I am interested in printing image bacause I am a fine art artist. do you know what is the largest size i can print with this camera? thanks again tamara
Printing is usually done around 300 dpi. This camera's maximum resolution is 4608 x 3456. So 4608 / 300 = 15.36 inches. That would mean 15.36 inches wide by 11.52 inches tall. However, this camera has a tiny sensor and slow lens so it's hard to say how small the photo needs to be and how much light you need in the scene for a decent looking print at fine art quality.
I see, that's good to know! These waterproof cameras tend to be pretty limited on settings and features so it's nice Nikon included a longer shutter speed option.
@@ScottJWaldron Well the longer shutter speed appeals to me as does manual mode so far only my old BenQ LM100 has these things but sadly you can't get those anymore.
Searching for help. Nikon w300 main PCB board, failure after 40 times use, one year after bought. I recognise the problem 2 days after warranty expiration date, and last successful use was 18 days before. 2nd of April 2018 (bought) until 16th of March 2019 works perfect. At 5th of April 2019 the Greek service inspect an unexpectable failure to the main PCB. They ask half of the price to repair. No water no uses problem they said. Is this a factory failure or Nikon w300 has an expiration date? Please help.

Hi, what’s the configuration for video for RUclips
4K UHD at 30p or full HD (1920x1080) at 30p unless you want to record slow motion footage.

Yes, but don't expect amazing sound quality considering the camera is waterproof.
