  • Today, we are going to check and test out Eufy's 2K indoor security camera and we will compare it to their pan and tilt version that they also recently released. Both of these WiFi cameras have 2k video resolution and the only notable difference aside from their design is the pan and tilt features of their pan/tilt version. There is also a 10 dollar difference between the 2.
    We will also compare the video day and night and see if there are any notable difference. So, in the end of this video you will have an idea on which of these cameras is a better choice for your needs.

    Really liking mine. Got the fixed one a few weeks ago and the pan and tilt one last week. My first cameras so I can't judge too harshly- for the price,especially with the discount for pre-ordering it was a no brainer. I'm excited for home kit support in the near future and hoping they bring it to the wired doorbell as well.

    Those 2 cams are amazing. I have both cameras and I use the since 1 year ... outdoor !!! They have been under sun, storms , winds .... incredible ! They are just sheltered under a small 10cm tile. Originally, I have to go for some vacations and I had nothing to check my house, so I decided to sacrifice 2 low cost cameras ... They don't want to die ! I use both camera since 1 year now. Still perfect picture, sound and Homekit compatible !!! Very weird ... but I will not complain !

    Thanks for the video. I'm leaving Wyze after their 3 year security vulnerability was finally made public. They've made other changes that are anti consumer. The Eufy regular camera seems like a great buy.

  • @dannymcneal
    @dannymcneal 4 года назад +14

    Another great video! I purchased two of the pan and tilt models. Like you, the $10 extra was worth it to me...and now that they are in service, I can confirm that it was the right call. These models replaced two of my Wyze Cam V2s, and the difference is noteworthy. Not only is the resolution much cleaner, the pan and tilt function is also smoother. But my biggest joy is the fact that the Eufys show the live stream MUCH quicker than the Wyze Cams. For instance (and I’ve mentioned this to Wyze in their forum), it takes way too long for the Wyze Cams to “Connecting Camera,” then “Authenticating,” then “Getting Video Data.” And when switching from one camera to the other, while I’m still in the app, it must go through the whole process again. Even switching from portrait mode to landscape mode for the same camera, it again has to take the time to authenticate (and often, the indicator just spins and spins-and I have an Orbi mesh system with two satellites in my 2000sq ft house)-very annoying! The whole Eufy experience is so much better than Wyze, that I’ll likely switch out most of my Wyze Cams for Eufy 2K Pan and Tilt models. However, I am thinking that I’ll put a couple of Wyze Cams in the crawl space under the house just to see if I have any field mice or other unwelcome guests getting in. And with HomeKit Secure Video coming to these Eufy Cams, it’s a no-brainer for me. Thanks again for the time and effort you put into your videos-you seem to have the pulse of your viewers, providing us with the information that is important to us.

    • @LifeHackster
      @LifeHackster  4 года назад +2

      I agree.. the user experience with the Eufy is way better... The Wyze actually has improved their load up times.. it was way slower before.. but Eufy, EZVIZ and the Yi apps are pretty responsive and loads up their cameras pretty quick... Thank you.

    • @Veneros
      @Veneros 2 года назад

      Hi Danny - sorry to drag up an old comment: can you comment on how this camera is one yr on? If you get more than one is it easy to peruse 2 or more of the same cameras through the app? Does it display as a dashboard of cameras or can you only view one camera stream at a time?
      Someone above mentioned something about you needing to view the video footage with internet/EUfy's servers, is this true? I.e. you can't use your wifi system to view, if internet is down?
      Do you know if you can use an sd card recording alongside recording to the cloud at the same time? So that if the camera is stolen there is still cloud recording available of evidence?

    • @dannymcneal
      @dannymcneal 2 года назад +5

      @@Veneros - Thanks for those questions. I was soon to do an update on my two Eufy 2K Indoor Pan & Tilt cameras. Here it is:
      - I no longer use those two Eufy 2K cameras because they will not connect to my WiFi router. I replaced an Orbi RBK50 AC mesh system (including two satellites) with the new Asus XT8 AX mesh system (one satellite). All of the smart home devices in my house connect flawlessly, except those two Eufy cameras. I’ve rebooted them multiple times, as well as resetting back to factory. They would work for a very short period of time, and then lose connection. And they won’t reconnect, not even while sitting in the same room as the router (as a test). Very disappointing. And I didn’t want to return to the Orbi’s AC protocol, and had already donated them at the Thrift Store. So I replaced the two Eufys with a couple of Wyze V3 HD cameras (honestly, hard to tell the difference in resolution quality). I have 12 Eufy entry sensors on the doors and windows in my house. I also have two eufyCam 2 Pro 2K cameras with the HomeBase 2 in service. No issues! All connect without a hitch-not the Indoor 2K Pan & Tilt cameras. I bought two of them for my daughter to monitor her newborn, and she has zero issues. She even said that they were so clear, it was kinda creepy-that was a good testimony!
      - The Wyze app lets you monitor the live feed of multiple cameras at the same time, as a dashboard. Eufy does not. With the eufy, you can see multiple still shots of each camera view in a vertical orientation, stacked one on top of the other. Really, I can see only two still shots at the same time, but those are not live. To see the live view, you have to first select the camera still shot.
      - Viewing through Eufy’s servers vs WiFi….I believe that is true, because when my Internet is down, I cannot view video footage while sitting in my own living room.
      - Using SD card. Yes, you can record on SD card and/or via a paid subscription to Eufy’s cloud. That’s the only way to get duplicate video recordings. I did not have the subscription, but did record 24/7 to a 128GB microSD card-good for a couple of weeks of non-stop video footage. Now that I’m not using those eufy cameras, what did I do with those microSD cards? Believe it or not, they work perfectly in the Wyze Cam V3 cameras. Wyze informs us that their cameras can work with up to 32GB microSD cards, but RUclipsrs have claimed success with higher capacity cards. So I followed their instructions and they work flawlessly. I think I get about 3 weeks or so of continuously stored video footage. The Wyze Cam V3 that replaced the eufy Indoor 2K camera that was mounted inside, behind glass, overlooking my driveway looks SIGNIFICANTLY better at night than the eufy, thanks to the Wyze Cam’s new starlight sensor. It really does make a huge difference. So now I’ve got four V3s. I have a V3 Spotlight coming today for one of them.
      - Early on, Wyze struggled to load, authenticate, and display the live video feeds. Just took what seemed like forever. They’ve apparently fixed that issue, as load times are significantly faster.
      Hope I answered your questions.

      hi s miller, using the eufy security camera plus (with the 365 day battery life) you have to mount these in the right angle correct? It has no pan/tilt ability so putting it on a shelf i presume you are stuck with whatever its viewing angle is where you lay it flat on the shelf, as it can't adjust remotely? Or can it?

    Love ur videos and make my decision based on them. I just bought eufy pan indoor camera. I just notice when i stream my camera on Echo show5 there is lot of delay like 5 to 6 sec delay in Video. Is it normal.
    I have another question about door bell
    Im confused between ring pro and eufy because of this delay. Please share ur thoughts
    Thanks

      Yes..all other brands except for Ring will have a longer delay... in m not sure if it is going to be improved in the future. Ring and Alexa integrates pretty good..

    I actually purchased reolink E1 Zoom and was very impressed by the 2K camera . But the way for display playback was very terrible . I like the timeline style like ring or ezviz app. Really don’t like that I have to search among a long list of video footages.

    Motion blur is quite bad I’m not sure it would be much good in the event of a breaking unless close up or the person stays relatively still which isn’t the case the added led night lights make it a first target on entry as well it’s a shame as the specs looked so promising

    You should be able to view and control the cameras without an internet connection, like the DVR wired cameras. No server necessary when viewing from the same wifi network as the cameras.

    Hi LifeHackster, if you decide not to sign up for cloud storage and only use local SD storage, can you still get access to your videos if the bad guy steals your camera? Is there any way, beside subscribing to cloud storage, to get access to your videos if your camera is stolen by the bad guy? Thx.
