Being on a fixed income, I wish I could purchase some of your products, but the cost is more than my budget will allow. But I do support you from the heart and I am thankful that you are being able to bring the farmhouse and land back to what it once was, or as close to it as possible. God Bless you.
@marvinjohnson424 Here in western NC, it’s hard to find and not good quality. I can’t believe the bent wood and knots. It’s not cheap! That’s a lot of $ right there, all those boards!
You are absolutely right. I was thinking about that after the experience that it is a management issue, and possibly a company culture issue. In fact I believe it was some kind of store manager doing an inventory that actually asked if I needed help, but then the help never came
I worked in retail in my early youth, comparing my experiences then to my last job, which was in a retail environment, even though I my job was working with businesses, instead of walk in customers. I had to step in daily and do the floor employees jobs due to the fact they ignored customers, was rude to them or didn't do it right. Voicing my concerns to management did no good. Back in the day, if you did any of the above, you were fired on the spot. They now just want their paycheck and not earn it. As to the quality of products now being sold in some, not all has drastically declined. You use to be able to buy items that seemed to last decades. Such a shame, sigh.
Agree. My Home Depot in Northeast Georgia is filled to the brim with lumber. They have so much inventory in the parking lot too for the garden center. I can't even tell you how much I spent at my local Home Depot. We don't have a Lowe's in my area and have to travel 40 minutes to 1 hour to go to one.
Hi Robert. I love your channel and have been watching for years. For some reason all my comments are ignored by you but I’m still with you and am hoping and praying you succeed with the old Byrd farm restoration. I live on a fixed income or would be donating for your cause. With that said my husband said to tell you Home Depot “sucks”. We were there yesterday for 2 1/2 hours looking to purchase a saw and batteries (that are sold separately of course ❤). The wait was for someone from the power tool department but finally corralled an arborist from the garden department to help. Another couple was waiting for help as well and a contractor unaffiliated with Home Depot helped them finally. Needless to say we will be going to Lowes next time. ❤❤
AWESOME!!! I am so glad you were able to purchase the wood and hangers!! Now, more work. I remember you saying way back how bad that was from no roof over that cement. You are cookin' in the kitchen now!! Great progress!! Your "Save the Sun" T-shirt looks great, if I do say so myself. Fellow viewers - It's available from the merch store!! EXCELLENT, Robert!! 👍👍❣️❣️😊😉😢
@@noniehayes6050 Thank you! I appreciate all of Robert's efforts. He is an amazing person. It is rewarding for me in many ways, in particular I could not save my own old family place, farm an house. SOmeone burned the house down. I want to see him save this house and farm.
@@SondraD7676 Oh no, sorry to hear that. I’m a historian “at heart” not a professional and I love this channel and all he is working on! Got to get some candles!
Home Depot is the worst at the location near me. I HAD an account, I had problems trying to get help, too. It happened many times, and I gave up. I decided that if they didn't want my money, someone else would. GREAT WORK!!!
Love watching your videos from the Old Byrd Farm and sidestep adventures into History. Watching you restoring the Old Byrd Farm has been truly fascinating.
Robert I'm happy you were able to get wood. I always go to Lowes even for my appliances & I've bought many over the years. If my being subscribed & hitting the like button helps you in a small way to preserve the farm I'm happy. You are a kind & generous man. Buying a log splitter to split wood for your friends. A lot of people wouldn't do that especially how busy you are & that the money could have been used for the farm. You are an example for all of us. You have made so much progress with the farm. I look forward to the day when at least the house is done.❤
I’m glad you’re closing up the floor before winter! It will be so much safer! And, I believe it will be warmer inside. Keep up the great work, Robert! Thank you for bringing us along on your journey!
I was always told that Home Depot is for contractor, and Lowes is for home owners. I think Lowes know people like me with just enough information to be dangerous will be coming to there store what to do a home improvement. I have a go to guy at Lowes, he helps me all the time.
Robert, What a difference between the two stores. The thing that really makes or breaks any business is how they treat their customers. I was ignored on occasion and waited anyway , but today I'll just walk out, I'm too old to put up with that nonsense. What happened to you at Home Depot should be a warning to everyone, too bad. Even if the staff usually meant well, the wood quality tells a different story. That new floor is going to be awesome. A thumbs up to Sandra and everyone else!!!!! Cheers, Rik Spector
I like to shout out a big thank you to Sondra for her generous donation. She’s a good friend to have Robert. Happy for you that you got the wood for the OBF. I know how you feel about Home Depot I’ve had problems there too. The worse part I can never find anyone to help me. I’m walking down all these aisles n not a soul around. Have to admit I do have better luck at Lowe’s. ♥️♥️😊👍👍🌟🌟🐶🐶 PS. You forgot to pick up some more trash bags 😅.
Very interesting. In our semi-rural area (far from Georgia) we will often drive the extra 20 miles to go to Home Depot in order to avoid the frustration of Lowe's. I'm sure a lot of factors go into that.

You're just moving right along. Nice to see the floor, to bad no treasures. Everyday on the farm moves you closer to a beautiful end result. Doing a great job Robert.
Well Robert you just keep on plugging along. Cleaning up a mess that big just takes time and effort and I gotta say that's looking a whole lot better. You have your wood that you need for the other floor and I can almost picture in my mind how good that's going to look and you will feel a lot safer with a solid floor beneath you. Take care man.👌👍
Worked at Home Depot for 2 years as a cashier. The lumber area has list of what is needed to be done, which leaves no time for customer service. When I worked the register in the lumber area and paged lumber, no one would respond. Great way to run a business.
I’ve always preferred Lowes too. They have better selection and better quality. I remember looking for drawer pulls for some cabinets a few years back. The difference in selection between Home Depot and Lowes was extreme!❤️🐝🤗
The Lowe’s vs Home Depot situation in Columbus is totally different than we experience in north Alabama and Southern TN. I won’t even go to Lowe’s to shop for wood, supply and quality are both terrible at Lowe’s.
Love to watch a man clean. Pretty Smart cleaning job with the rake and shovel. It is a small space but now looks huge. Glad your getting such support. Lots of things purchases. Can't wait for some of that action coming up soon. It is nice to work now that it has cool off some. Makes you perkier.
You are a "driven" young man.... Kudos to YOU, Robert! Appreciate the commentary on the retail store comparison .... especially as an associate of Lowe's! Thank YOU, for All YOU DO!
I also try to use smaller/locally owned lumber yards vs big box stores for better quality wood, too (Though realize I'm lucky to still have some in reasonable distance!).
