  • Captured here is one of the most unbelievable moments I have ever experienced in my years of recording emergency vehicles around the world! I was visiting a fire station of the 'Bomberos Costa Rica' in the city of Cartago, and was casually talking with the firefighters when I noticed a lot of smoke rising just a few hundred meters down the street from the station! I immediately pointed this out to the firefighters, who were equally concerned about it, but told me they had not yet been dispatched to respond to any related incident. However, sure enough, just moments later the alarm tones went off in the station and an engine was assigned to extinguish the fire. I was told that it was likely a relatively minor vegetation or garbage fire, which is why only one unit was sent to the call. Of course, I was more than thrilled to capture the response, but the whole thing was quite a crazy coincidence! My special thanks go out to the firefighters of Cartago for their hard work and for welcoming me to their station!

    It's interesting how they use a mix of the traditional American vehicles like the Pierce and Ford, but also use Toyotas and other brands.

    • @TGGGlobalEmergencyResponses
      @TGGGlobalEmergencyResponses  Год назад +4

      Yes definitely. They do seem to primarily use North American products, but there’s some surprising and unique vehicles among their fleet. In San Jose for example they have firefighting motorbikes built by BMW.

    • @WeazelGamingHI
      @WeazelGamingHI Год назад +2

      @@TGGGlobalEmergencyResponses It somewhat reminds me of our police department here in Hawaii. Where the primary marked units are Ford. But the "unmarked" units are often Toyotas or any other brand.
      Fun fact: The unmarked units are often an officer's personal vehicle. It's due to our departments subsidizing the cost in an effort to save money on vehicle maintenance and the like.

    Im from Costa Rica from the city of Cartago, they are normally busy answering emergency calls for swarms of bees or wasps, and the number of Emergencies varies according to the season they normally have more than 10 emergencies per day

    Daaaaamm!!! I didn't watch this before!!! What a beautiful panoramic view of the volcano!! You were absolutely lucky! But an irony that you recorded a fire response in Cartago instead San Jose, the costarican capital city hahaha!!!
    I think that Costa Rica, along with Panama, are the best equipped fire units in Central America.
    Always enjoying your videos!! Would be nice to see you in Mexico or another Latam country!:D 🇨🇷

      Honestly, I went in not expecting anything, but somehow got super lucky in Cartago. San Jose was dead compared to this… 🤣
      Yes, the Costa Ricans are really well equipped. I’m glad that they invest so much in public safety. Would love to visit Panama too one day, and other countries in the region as well.
      Thank you my friend!! One day day I will make it happen for sure 🙏🏼

    Wondering if policies are a bit different in CR regarding self-deployment. In my county if we're at the station or driving around and we see smoke, we're going and we're alerting dispatch, not the other way around.

    • @TGGGlobalEmergencyResponses
      @TGGGlobalEmergencyResponses  Год назад +3

      I’m sure policies around this are different all over the world. In this case it seemed like they did have to wait to actually be dispatched by their command center. But to be fair, it all happened very quickly, so I can’t say whether they might have radioed ahead or even self-deployed if they hadn’t already been dispatched within a minute of me pointing out the fire.

    • @samward7633
      @samward7633 Год назад +2

      @TGG - Global Emergency Responses Good point. It did seem (Based on your description in the video) that they might be "stuck" until dispatched, which makes sense so dispatch knows exactly where they are. Great video though!
