You're the first person to break down a GV song to this extent. Her brilliance needs to be broken down in this way. The depth of her genius requires such scrutiny
Great analysis. this was the first time she performed this for an audience....she is special.
This is probably the most thorough reaction to one of Grace's songs. Love it! She's my favorite artist of all time and I've been around for a while. She's so young and yet so talented. I can only imagine what's yet to come over the years from her. It's very exciting to see and witness her journey. I hope you choose to return to doing Grace's music. You should definitely check out her performance of her original Today and Tomorrow on the Jimmy Kimmel show. She wrote the song for the Disney movie Star Girl which she started in when she was 14 years old. Thank you for your kind commentary on her.
Grace is another one of a kind singer and songwriter. I have followed her since AGT and she just keeps getting better. Wonderful reaction.
Yes she is - and thank you, Steven:) @steven buckner
I found your analysis very insightful and that is what every song by Grace deserves. Thank you and I will subscribe.
So pleased that this one got resurrected as well...one of the group of new artists that are making our musical selves a continuous renewal. Hard not to be a comparing mind after hearing a lifetime of mostly American artists...but the excellence shown all around the world on the Voice and the other shows is just unprecedented to me.
Haha yes! There's hope now for when videos get blocked! Yes, it's amazing the standard of artists around the world! @dhamma58
@@wildmusicreactions have you reviewed or reacted to Disturbed sound of silence ? maybe the best remake of an original !
Stray is my favourite song of grace
Brilliance upon brilliance, that is Grace from head to toe. From her very earliest compositions, I am talking 3-year-old Grace to her very latest, there is emotional depth that obscures her actual age. Grace is a treasure who's value will only increase in the years to come.
Love Grace ♥️ 🇧🇷 ♥️
As one musician to another I must say this. You haven't heard or seen nothing yet my friend. I've been watching her grow up and producing song after song at a mind-blowing rate. Even doing it live on her Instagram site. The lyrics she comes up with are always relatable no matter what age you are and the music composition is incredible for someone this age and especially at age 12.
This video was very good but you must see the official video of Stray. The concept of that video was Grace's concept as well, as are most of her official videos. This girls personality is another thing with an intelligence above the norm and an insight to the world as she sees it that can only bring up the words, old soul. I would recommend Letters Volume 1 and one of my favorite songs and the one that really got this old musician hooked a few years ago, 'Moonlight written at 13, upbeat but if you didn't listen to the lyrics you would think it was just one of those happy songs. Deep lyrics and beautiful music composition. Sorry for the rant, just happy to see a musician react to her. So many people love grace but don't have a clue as to how she uses chord progression, timing, phrasing. She is special and I hope you continue reacting to her. I know I'll appreciate it. And I think I'll subscribe to your channel because I think you will.
Hi Trip and thanks for the information. I just uploaded Moonlight @Trip 222 :)
@@wildmusicreactions Just finished watching it and I really like how you do your reactions. Keep up the good work, very enjoyable.
@@trip2229 “You haven't heard or seen nothing yet my friend.” “I would recommend Letters Volume 1”
Cringe.
She's going to be a musical powerhouse once the kid and pandemic stuff is out of the way.
Well done, great analysis my friend, Less we forget she was fourteen there. Totally a Pearl of great price, I do not believe her likes will be seen again. Cherish her. She is one of a kind. peace GGT
Wild Music, Nice reaction and analysis! It's cool that you actually did some research on who she is beforehand! (A lot of reactors don't!) Nice style too just letting it play through once first then going back and breaking it down bit by bit. You picked up on a lot of the rich subtile details that make Grace unique straight away. Like her phrasing for one thing. I've been following her since her first audition on AGT in 2016 and that's one thing that's always stood out to me from her very first song. Her phrasing is flawless and has a rhythmic element to it that pushes the song forward. Another thing is the way she puts in "grace" notes on certain words. You pointed out the way she'd sung the word "floor", but there's plenty of other little gems in there too. For instance in the second line of the song check out the way she sings the word "SONG" (2:37) and right after that the word "YOU" (2:43). It's just one word but there's actually about 3-4 "grace" notes within that one word! Just exquisite nuance! Then there's that tight rapid vibrato thing going on on some words that's easy to miss until you hear it. And of course her signature raspiness and voice "cracks". That's where the title to her first EP came from... "Perfectly Imperfect". Most other singers would be embarrassed if their voice "cracked" like that but with Grace it happens in just the right way in just the right places that adds a whole other dimension of "perfection"! And that's one place that I might differ slightly from your analysis. You frame it as a "technique" she's consciously doing but I'd be willing to wager it's not something she's even consciously aware of or "doing" as a technique. It's just the way her voice naturally is and that "quirk" gets more pronounced the louder she sings. If you go back and find some of the videos her and her mother used to put out (I think on Facebook live) back when she was in the midst of the AGT contest (12 years old) you can hear her voice cracking just when she's speaking in her normal voice.
IMHO Grace is a total enigma. She's so much more than just a great singer/songwriter. I would add composer, arranger, and producer and perhaps even philosopher all rolled into one! All the dynamics you mention in this song are her idea. The gradual build up and ending back with that quiet few lines at the end. You can witness this even in her very first audition song on AGT, "I Don't Know my Name", and the other three she did as well. The dynamics she wrote into them is way more sophisticated than you might expect from a 12 year old kid who'd just learned (self taught) how to play ukulele and just started writing less than a year before AGT! Her only performing experience being a handful of "open mic" gigs at a local coffee shop, and way before she ever had a "real" producer. Another enigma... She came at the whole AGT thing from a way different angle than probably 95% of the other contestants that sign up. She wasn't even expecting to pass the audition and wasn't doing it to seek fame and fortune or even to WIN. She's a true artist that just wanted to share her art and hoped maybe some people would like it. When asked about the "competition" later she said.... "I wasn't competing." (she doesn't even like the word competition) You could say she's a GIVER not a TAKER. Not trying to GET something from it like fame or fortune. She just wanted to GIVE her music as a gift. She's just so REAL and humble about it all... That's a very rare thing in the music industry. IMHO the reason she's so compelling has nothing to do with technique and everything to do with the sheer depth of FEELING and EMOTION she puts into her music. You can feel it. If you pay attention at the end of this video you can see that she was so DEEP into this performance it takes her almost a full 10 seconds to "come back to earth" when she finally says... "Thank you"....
Brilliant. I second every word.
Great reaction bloke.
One of the best I've seen.👍
Best thing to happen to music in forever.
She has sole writing credits on this song
Clearly is a great cover song, twisted perfectly to her style.
Clearly is not a "cover" they rewrote it using the chorus from "I can see clearly now" by Johnny Nash,.. Grace wrote the bridge,.
Many of Grace's fans may not see it this way but it appears that most of Grace's fans are also followers of Taylor, Ariana, Pink and Lana Del Rey and since Grace's career has been held up by the virus adjustments and school the other singers are still producing a limited amount of work to keep these fans happy. The results of that is hardly any of the youngins are paying attention to the reaction videos. Some of Grace fans are working hard to get reaction people to look at Grace over the last few years and when we finally start getting results it is in a time of low fan participation. Teen cover singers like Angelina and Danelya are getting 15 to 20k views because they have a huge old man audience but very few young fans. Hopefully you'll do more Grace reactions
That is very evident , where Grace shines in numbers is on music streaming platforms like Spotify , she has so many more streams than all the other singers put together that have been on AGT that picked up an older fan base , Graces monthly listeners on Spotify have recently started picking up by about 4000 new listeners a day not sure what triggered the current climb she had 1.82 million that has now climbed past 1.84 million , in contrast Angelina has only climbed from 198k to 203k in the same period and that was due to the release of her new song.
@@gregcadman6102 I doubt Angelina's song will garnish enough attention to have Adele respond to the obvious copying of her vocals.
How is Jackie Evancho doing compared to Grace's numbers?
@@Cal99ers poorly , currently sitting at 176k
Greg Cadman she’s now up to 1.85 million, hopefully it keeps climbing!
It is so nice to see someone doing some research on someone that they are doing a reaction on. There are soooooooooo many songs that you can watch, over 30 original songs by Grace's. I'm glad you like this one you just just did a reaction on. She never sung is before a crowd before and didn't know if they would like the song. So, how about one that will make you cry, Grace has a few to help you on your way too doing that. So here is just one. A song she wrote for her sister Olivia at 12, a song used by many couples as their first wedding dance and one she used to win AGT. So here the song is being used by Windex for a commercial. By the way I'm 71.

Thank you - I'll definitely check the Windex Commercial song out and as you said there are so many others that I look forward to reacting too as well:) @pauldhoff
#Lettersvol1 Grace 2019 , enjoyed your reaction
She released this after throwing a whole album worth of songs away, because they were not the right fit for her. That was like throwing over a $million in the trash!
this video was hard to find btw! it only now showed up for me.
Glad you found it - yes it was blocked when I uploaded it the other day but it's now unblocked:) @KING POTUS
Happy I did too! Looking forward to more grace!! She’s out of this world!
