I grew up down the street from Tustin Marine Corp Air Station, I remember when Vietnam was going on all the helicopters flying 24/7. I would jog from my house to the helicopter base, down Warner and back home, 5 mile round trip. And I still drive by the one hangar still standing.

The historic north blimp hangar at former MCAS Tustin caught fire on Nov. 7th 2023 and was almost completely destroyed

I was stationed at Mare Island in California and have chronic health problems. It was just as polluted as Camp Lejeune according to the California EPA, but the Navy is quiet about it.

I was hoping to see some good Naval Station Long Beach pics, most were of the neighboring shipyard.

as someone from sacramento i would just like to set this straight there is 2 mather airforce bases he was showing pictures of both. the picture with the gate and barb wire with few abandon buildings is the real mather airforce base that shut down shortly after the cold war and is still abandon till this day, and they have covered the underground bunkers with trees. however there is the public mather airforce base that is now public use.

After Norton AFB closed, San Bernardino went bankrupt.

Sounds like California took the biggest "hit" when it came down to base closures...10 here in this video alone..... I think Camp Pendelton along the Coast(Monterey County), is also one that took a "hit"

10 in part one too. Camp Pendleton wasn't effected and isn't anywhere near Monterey County.

I don`t think Camp Pendelton was affected. It`s The Largest USMC Base extending into three different Southern California Counties...Pretty sure "Monterey County" is up North...
