ASUS probably expects this device will fail to sell for the amount of money they invested in it. But, that wasn't the goal of the development of this device. The goal was to solve problems that are likely to appear in other devices. It is like the NASA mission to the Moon. Apollo possessed very little science value, but in the process of solving problems to land on the Moon, useful technological solutions for every day on Earth systems were obtained.

Professor Scot I actually think this is to get in the market before too many competitors arrive. It’s a compelling package for gamers. Remember that both Microsoft and PlayStation are gunning for cloud gaming. Microsoft with their XCloud and PlayStation with their PlayStation Now. If they can beat Razer and become the name in mobile gaming now; they’ll get a lot more when those services become live.

From my experience it could be the case for the ROG phone too but only if you max the hell out of the brightness, turning the color gamut mode to wide, and turning on X mode which ups the CPU/GPU performance. However that external fan clip that comes with the phone knocks pretty much 90% of the heat out of the park and keeps the back of the phone completely cool and can cool most of the front so you wouldn't have to worry about the front frying your fingers off.

I just bought this phone and it kicks ass. I haven't had as much fun with a phone in a long time.
In the end, it's just a phone, yes. But it is really good. Asus has put the best of the best for everything inside or outside. The speakers are full sounding and very loud, each with their own amp, the headphone jack has it's own DAC of very high quality, so good quality headphones will give their best, there is a dedicated chip for HDR, the screen of course with it's 90 hertz and it is wide gamut capable. Big battery, overclockable processor. The list goes on. Even the tactile feel of the volume and power buttons is top notch. Plus there are those Air Triggers that can be used for other things than gaming, like launching apps and stuff. I would say the only sore points are the lack of waterproofing and the good but not great camera. And it looks much better in person than on pictures or videos. Great phone !

I wouldn't even mind if the next version of this guy just has 2 usb c ports and no headphone jack. I simply must have the ability to be listening to audio through a wire and charging simultaneously for my day to day. I also love the idea of implementing cooling in a smartphone to help keep that processor cool so it'll last longer.

@@mynamehaschangedI also use an iPhone and iPad man. I'll try that game on my Android phone to see the result. I'm not a Samsung owner, had it like four years ago and it was a very bad experience.

@@brandMason If you test it, check the difference between the loading screens in both phones. It's not the gameplay but the loading, and that's what bothers mots players because when grinding in that game it's all about fast loading between fights..

    • @brandMason
      @brandMason 6 лет назад +1

@@mynamehaschanged I see, I just try the game. The graphics is amazing, and I clearly see there's a 2/3sec gap between the loading on my iPhone and Android when starting the game. iPhone load faster but in-game I didn't see any lag problem. I'm using iPhone X and Zenfone 5Z anyway.
And the in-game loading is completely different, iPhone feel instant while the Android has like 1sec loading before load the content.
Okay, Now I see the problem :D

Mr. Mobile: Holding out for ALL the toys! ;)
Awesomely crafted review as always, and I love the way the brightly colored transitions "pop" on my screen. I think this phone is cool too, and that's one of the benefits of never quite growing up. Cooling system does not work the well... if they were serious, they would have designed the phone differently. And what's up with the fake buttons?

If I wasn't into pixels and camera's as much as I am, I would love to own this. I love to game. But I have little time at home, and on the go, my Pixel XL 2 isn't as fun. Those air touch triggers would be lovely. I don't want bulky add on buttons. No thanks to those who were going to share that with me. I just like a solo phone. Great video. As always.

Not too much of a gamer but I love this phone so far. The design is unique and definitely stands out from the crowd. It's an ideal futuristic peice if tech. The specs are great and I love me some front firing speakers. The OLED screen looks great so far and the UI looks pretty good too. Since is a gaming phone it'll definitely be able to take on anything and should last a long time. Great review and I'll definitely be back for part 2.

It's not for casual gamers anyway. It's made to play high end games without thermal throttling. This phone will outperform even the OnePlus 6 in gaming. My only concern is with the Android updates

@@mcbc5189 If I'm wrong, then in 6-12 months, when people have had time to buy the phone, look at the number of downloads for the most graphics intensive mobile games (iOS and Android) and compare them with sales for this device and the Razer Phone. I predict that mobile downloads of the most 'gamer' game (be it Racing, Battle Royale, or other) will outnumber sales of the two phones at least 10 to 1.

Did you happen to open up the macro settings inside a game? I haven't been able to find this mentioned in any other video.
Are the macros able to be keymapped to the air triggers?
