    This is the first time I've heard about Bongkrekic acid. This is very rare case of food poisoning.

    Not from food sample but chef's hands? 😱

    Very similar to the one that happened to a few small towns in Malaysia in the 1980s. Many died after eating lou si fun. The cause was found to be boric acid found in the noodles. The source was found to be in the manufacturing, storing and distributing issues.

    Chef hands? But it's been so many days so does it mean the chef hasn't wash his hands since?

      He got it from touching the noodles

      no, they retested the samples, but with higher sensitivity, as mentioned in the video. so the toxin is there but very faint trace due to cleanup or whatever.

    Taiwanese efficiency is very good. And even covering the cost of medical.

    The report should also say where this acid is normally used, and if it’s not a food related item, then this is foul play, meaning it was a malicious act to cause harm.

      It ISN’T normally used, anywhere. It’s produced by something that can develop on the food. It’s named after the coconut-based tempeh called tempeh bongkrek.

      @dodonggoldblum2085 mostly from coconut and fermented corn. Fermented corn and coconuts wet rice noodles and other types of pasta can get something similar but it's not conclusive just don't eat something very old itll create such thing. In the case of old rice and pasta it creates something similar but not bongrekic acid

    I only know bongkrekic in tempeh..

    • @djarumz
      @djarumz 5 месяцев назад

      only in coconut fermented tempeh which is not so common - and yeah there were fatal toxin cases related to it.
      most tempeh now is soybean based, pretty safe to eat. but of course buy from good places.
