this is very much appreciated. seeing peter, mick, hefner, max smart , barbi, arte and a room full of the studio's paid fans is not a rare occurance, but a glimpse of danny kirwan playing guitar is. dannykirwanforever
so long ago, I saw the small , size of a paragraph, weekly newspaper ad from the whiskey a go go, so I went up, paid at the door, and saw this incarnation of Fleetwood Mac. they really brought it, giving me forever memories.
Dang - the best part is cut out by the TWA ad and credits at the end - some really phenomenal guitar playing from this most legendary incarnation of Fleetwood Mac....
+Noel Majers Yes. Like the way AM radio DJs used to talk over instrumental intros an coda solos as if they were filler or did not count as an important part of the song might want to hear.
Golden Ratio I agree. Danny was my favorite member of Fleetwood Mac. His singing, songwriting, and guitar playing were always top notch. It's a shame that he went nuts, and wound up in a mental hospital in England.
Yep, this is what is known as "British Fleetwood Mac", later incarnation with Buckingham and Stevie is "American Fleetwood Mac". Really fascinating how this band has two really different era's.
Actually what the viewer can see here with Don Adams and Arte Johnson (Laugh In), who can't relinquish the stage so to speak here for even a few minutes while the show's musical guest performs, but rather has convinced one cameraman (and director) to keep showing his sad ass. This was a clash of cultures during the sixties, as the entrenched entertainers tried to hold their ground against the inevitable explosion of pop culture and music, and remain significant. You see it in old footage on RUclips from variety shows from the sixties (Hollywood Palace, Judy Garland Show etc.)where the hosts are from another generation, while the musical guests are being slowly dominated by the young.
People: Let's go listen to Fleetwood Mac Hugh: "My real theory is that the environmental conditions here in the rec-room would be absolutely perfect for the Fleetwood Mac".
Saw Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac at least five times at the Grande Ballroom in Detroit and the Birmingham Palladium. What a great band. Too bad drugs took such a toll on this version of The Mac. Peter Green was a master of volume and tone, Danny Kirwan played well beyond his age and Jeremy Spencer was the reincarnation of Elmore James.
One of the great songs about wanking - along with The Vapors’ Turning Japanese, The Who’s Pictures of Lily, The Divinyls’ I Touch Myself, and Cyndi Lauper’s She Bop.
McVie and Fleetwood had no idea of what would begin to happen in another six or seven years. Many fans of Fleetwood Mac never knew of Peter Greene and and the band's early existence... especially fans of the 70's. On the other hand, fans of the original band don't seem to have much approval of the later version.
Nothing like Greeny singing a song about whacking off at the Playboy mansion....so cool! Mick should've had Harold in all his pink splendor attached to his bass drum as he was known to do in their nightclub days in the UK
peter looks so great like he has total command of his life at this point , and danny high flying also, the years are cruel man. how on earth could they slather this great music with weak comedy adverts and tasteless cuts is crazy, even then … hefner exudes creepy
I a girl so I not a fan of Playboy but this was cool Fleetwood Mac and Arte Johnson..was Christine with them yet??....I couldn't tell...love Arte Johnson he funny....this was 1970 like I told my friend Dan who I sent the video to huh????....did y'all know Arte is only 5'4"?????!!!!!.....Arte lying on the pool table when we first see him...lol!!!!!!!!
plushlush, that's Danny Kirwan, the other great guitarist. 18 years old... It's him doing the lead on the last song. The original Fleetwood Mac had 3 awesome guitaists. Jeremy Spencer played the slide beautifully.
this is very much appreciated. seeing peter, mick, hefner, max smart , barbi, arte and a room full of the studio's paid fans is not a rare occurance, but a glimpse of danny kirwan playing guitar is. dannykirwanforever
still the greatest FM video around

The REAL Fleetwood Mac.
Such a shame this outfit didn't last longer, some of the best psychedelic blues rock out there!
I hadn't seen the footage of ' Coming Your Way' before. Excellent. Danny's playing and tone gives me chills.
Golden Ratio I agree. Danny was my favorite member of Fleetwood Mac. His singing, songwriting, and guitar playing were always top notch. It's a shame that he went nuts, and wound up in a mental hospital in England.
the peter green fleetwood mac was the best.
Definitely the best line up!
The only mac
Amen brother.
This is the only Fleetwood Mac that I'll acknowledge. Peter Green was quite the man. He also looks so much like Jesus in this video.
The later version was a joke
@Reece that's even being polite in the comparison
Peter and Danny were the musical geniuses in Fleetwood Mac. I liked Christine, but she wasn't anywhere near either of them in musical talent.
LOVE GREEN'S riff at 1:39 looking over at Mick ....both KILLIN IT!!!!
Isn't great when a band knows when they are firing on all cylinders
Now, that's a party.
RIP Hef, you had a long wonderful life
Peter Green looked like he was having a great time.
Rocking out at the Playboy Mansion ,why not.
I would love to see the whole set intact nice to see Peter Green grooving real hard
Mick Fleetwood was drumming out of his mind too
Truly a blessing that this footage was saved.
Any live Fleetwood from this era is a blessing.
Mick Fleetwood is hitting those drums nicely
Just when Peter started warming up it was over. Sigh...
That's true about his musical career too
no joke WTF?
TV show + 1960's = 4 minute songs. Gotta get to that Franco-American ad!
Yep, this is what is known as "British Fleetwood Mac", later incarnation with Buckingham and Stevie is "American Fleetwood Mac". Really fascinating how this band has two really different era's.
This version is the real deal
Don’t forget about the Bob Welch Era in between
True; it's the post-Peter era .... but also the Danny Kirwan, Christine McVie "Middle Mac" period.
and there's Maxwell Smart getting pissed at the bar! gold!

The second song is Danny Kirwan's "Coming Your Way", the opening track on Then Play On.
What a groovy time to live.
Totalmente!!!!
why does nobody dance like this anymore? such a shame....
Because there isn't any music like this anymore.
Because looking like you’re having a seizure isn’t a good thing…
Man look how young Mick was!!
just a pimple faced stringy haired scrawny little kid LOL
He was a bizarre looking man though!
I believe he just turned 80. How any of those guys made it that far is amazing to me.
There was a hint if Albatross in between songs. Must have been an awesome night!
Green Manalichi too!
tune during closing is "coming my way"
People: Let's go listen to Fleetwood Mac

THIS WAS A WHOLE DIFFERENT BAND, then what I'm used to.'The Fleetwood Mac' as Mr Hefner would say.
Yes, several years before the Buckingham-Nicks era. Back then, bands were introduced with a "The" prefix whether it was a part of their name or not.
oopsadaze the best mac..by far!
classic fleetwood mac!!! r.i.p peter green!
As far as I'm concerned, Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac is the ONLY Fleetwood Mac
Got that right
agreed
I agree 100% and would also add that Sid Barrett was Pink Floyd
Ha! Ironic doing a song about self abuse at the Playboy Club.
One of the great songs about wanking - along with The Vapors’ Turning Japanese, The Who’s Pictures of Lily, The Divinyls’ I Touch Myself, and Cyndi Lauper’s She Bop.
The real fleetwood mac !
Peter Green was in total command of the instrument a virtuoso
Peter DAY HERE ...NOT Peter NIGHT doing JUMPIN AT SHADOWS both chills up my spine......
My God, the band was on fire
McVie and Fleetwood had no idea of what would begin to happen in another six or seven years. None whatsoever
AAAAAAAHHHHH......The Peter Green years!
Peter Green🎵🎸
Peter Greens Fleetwood Mac good blues
Wow, this is fantastic.
Classic stuff
Peter Green had more soul and blues in his pinky than Clapton has in his entire body.
Didn't care for Claptons playing that much, too slick , not raw enough for me
Barbie Benton was stunning Hugh should have married her
Green's likely laughing because they're on Playboy doing a song about masturbation. Anyone else ever catch that?
God bless Danny and Peter
Hef, you lucky dog.
I likes! A whole lot!!!!!
Great, great Peter! R.I.P.
Artie needs a tab of Orange Sunshine!!
I can’t do the rattlesnake shake, but I can really do the brontosaurus
Barbie Benton was a real beauty in the day!
RIP Peter Green
Nothing like Greeny singing a song about whacking off at the Playboy mansion....so cool! Mick should've had Harold in all his pink splendor attached to his bass drum as he was known to do in their nightclub days in the UK
Damn,you aren't kidding! :))
I recognize that guy on pool table?
Way back before my time, as toddler.
RIGHT SONG FOR BEING
AT THIS PLACE INDEED 😆
Weed Me
Shagadelic, baby!
Jeremy Spencer is reduced to shaking maracas.
That was his important role in this particular song
Totally appropriate song for goofy Hef.
later all the women would be playing the flutes and the organs .
peter looks so great like he has total command of his life at this point , and danny high flying also, the years are cruel man. how on earth could they slather this great music with weak comedy adverts and tasteless cuts is crazy, even then … hefner exudes creepy
Super Maravilha...
buena época, buenos acidos.
Nope
Also!!! Jeremy Spencer /Danny Kirwan as good as the Master Mr. Green
The music is timeless, unlike the dancing.
Some of those girls look like they're pretty good at doing the Rattlesnake Shake.
Una versión abreviada, pero muy buena.
The great Barbi Benton
a very brief glimpse of the late Sharon Tate.. dancing.. RIP
***Anyone know the original air date?***
Copyright on the credits said 1970, and Peter left FM in May of that year
The best university coeds money could buy. All grandmothers now. Oh well.
I guess you just had to be there
Jesus Saves but Greeny shook me cold! 😱
Hef tell me more about how sheep's bladders can stop earthquakes
Was that where Mike Meyers got his inspiration to do Austin Powers??
Don Adams AKA Maxwell Smart from the classic "Get Smart" TV series next to Hugh @ the 3:00 minute mark.
no the guy in the blue jacket!
Back when they were a
blues band. Toney Tillery Isaiah.
Little Barbie Benton, the Stepford girlfriend ugh
and Mick looks like a teenager here, all thin & so young ha
Healthy Peter singing about masturbation at what's supposed to be the Playboy mansion.
times have changed a bit
Wow! No Stevie, yet! Peter Green(e) on guitar, per chance??
LOL Artie Johnson with his thumb in his mouth!
wow mick fleetwood could actually play drums well at one time
still can
Still can
Was Goldie Hawn there?
ow ah
Wow, back when they were a blues rock band. Then came the girls and changed everything for them.
the girls and the COKE
Can you imagine if this band stayed together and avoided all the drugs?
Hey, watch it. Those "dorks" are somebody's grandparents ;- )
Is that Neil Young at 1:34?
plushlush, that's Danny Kirwan, the other great guitarist. 18 years old... It's him doing the lead on the last song. The original Fleetwood Mac had 3 awesome guitaists. Jeremy Spencer played the slide beautifully.
Who else is playing guitar here along with Green? Kirwan? I don't think so, this guy here has darker hair, Kirwan was fair haired.
It's Danny, see the end. His hair was looking especially "dirty-blonde" for this taping.
Peter Green was the man😎👍
Fleetwood Mac nur mit Peter Green
Any live Fleetwood from this era is a blessing.
Amazing looking girls.
This isn't Fleetwood Mac.
Laughin!
barbi is so fine
sleepruim did you know that Arte Johnson is only 5'4"???????
Arte Shaw, the proto-Adam Sandler comedic man child.
That guy with the beard doesn't look like Stevie Nicks.
0:42 that doesn't look like Stevie Nicks???
No.
I wish the songs weren’t cut off and I wish Arty Johnson wasn’t there.
