That may be the best rendition of for once in my life,by sammy davis jr.sammy proved once again, why he was the greatest entertainer that ever lived.theres nothing sammy wasnt capable of doing.from ballads to uptempo songs,no one did it better than sammy davis jr.
Not sure which performance was the best. They were all mind-blowing! This is truly from the golden age of entertainment. We're lucky we get to watch this stuff so easily!
Could you please credit the blonde soul singer Joanne Vent. There’s very, very little footage of her performing during her short life and this is, by far, the very best footage of her.
Sondra "Blinky" Williams, beautiful performance, American R&B and soul singer-songwriter, probably best known for singing the female lead on the theme for the 1970s TV series Good Times.
Wow I saw the clip of Sammy and Mom's getting down but to watch the entire program was so nostalgic. Say what you will about Hefner this is a masterpiece...
Don't know if this was at Hef's Place on Dearborn St. in Chicago or not but that area was really pristine back then. Can you imagine living on floor below and hearing all of the Entertainers who visited there & performed. Native Chicagoan who transplanted to DFW Tx. at end of 2018..
Classy , good music, and dance men dressed like man, and woman as,well. The dance moves didn't need to be shaking buts. Where class has gone? Please let me know as i am able.
As a 16 year watching this, I remember laughing at all the older adults trying so hard to be cool (especially Hef) and be a part of the youth culture. They didn't succeed. The dancing, lol. While Sammy's talent was appreciated, he also was part of our parent's culture and not what we wanted to see. Such a strange show, Hef couldn't decide who he wanted to appeal to, his age group, or the youth. I think he tried to do both and failed.
The way Sammy Davis reacted when he saw Mom's is priceless I love that part
It has to be the most replayed part
Sammy Davis Jr. Class and talent … sorely missed … time machine please 🤗

Agreed 100% - in a league of his own!
Sammy was the greatest entertainer who ever lived! Notice how Byron Gilliam stepped back when Sammy came up to dance?
This is how TV variety was done back then…today’s talent cannot hold a candle to Sammy, Moms, and so on.
I’m straight weeping, full out balling, while watching Moms singing “Abraham, John and Martin”.
Sammy was in tears, too. That hug was from the heart.
ohh my I cried hard myself
This song always bring me to tears too
You're in good company. Sammy was, too.
Always loved Sammy Davis Jr, he was a triple threat. He could sing, dance and act like no other. thanks for posting!
More than triple - check out the vids of him playing drums and other instruments like a boss. 🎹

Sondra "Blinky" Williams, beautiful performance, American R&B and soul singer-songwriter, probably best known for singing the female lead on the theme for the 1970s TV series Good Times.

They way Sammy paused “Came” I’m so glad you CAME …. Into my life
I see Paul Moody. #groovysetup Mom' song had me in tears. ✌🏾
I THOUGHT that was him! Cool.
Moony. And I wonder if he was there because he was writing material for Moms.
That was the grooviest thing I think I have ever seen. I was expecting to see Batman pop out doing the Batusi.
Always loved Sammy. Often underappreciated in his time. ❤
Patricia labbe, don't worry, millions of people recognized Sammy davis jr.as the greatest entertainer that ever lived.
Im so feeling the female singer on the mike with Sammy & Moms were dancing
Wow I saw the clip of Sammy and Mom's getting down but to watch the entire program was so nostalgic. Say what you will about Hefner this is a masterpiece...
Billy Preston!....the fifth Beatle!....and what can we say about Sammy!!
Simmie williams,it's very simple.you can say Sammy davis jr.was the greatest entertainer that ever lived.that was simple.
Simmie williams, correction,Sammy was greater than great,if that's possible.
Never knew he played drums
Naw your wrong Clarence was the fif beetle
I love these shows. It feels intimate and professional. I would love this to be revisited and done now. If possible.
It could never be duplicated ... it worked with the stars of a bygone era.
Sound amazing together. Wow!!💜
Sammy was really funky here so was his Motown album
The Righteous Brother, Bill Medley & Sammie, how cool was that performance, Top Gun you could say !
Love Sammy Davis.💜
It’s a PARTY whenever SAMMY is around....
Probably much cooler now in retrospect than it was at the time.
Blood, Sweat & Tears had a great contribution
Sammy was a power house!
Wow, Mom Mableys parting song there. very moving. Meanwhile in Minneapolis...Chicago...ATlanta....New York...Portland....have we come far?
Mom's the word!
Don't know if this was at Hef's Place on Dearborn St. in Chicago or not but that area was really pristine back then. Can you imagine living on floor below and hearing all of the Entertainers who visited there & performed. Native Chicagoan who transplanted to DFW Tx. at end of 2018..

Moms has got some MOVES!
The lady was 76 years old at this time.
Hippest scene in you tube, baby
...
love his 50's stuff and numbers the most, would of preferred the orchestra that went with those songs, but he was so great
I prefer 50s Sammy, but I do dig this performance. It showed his versatility and being open to the then-current sounds of the day.
Only clip I seen before was Sammy and Jerry Lewis doing Lulaby Baby on what I think was the same show?. Just came across this and feel lucky I did.
Sammy going from Funny Valentine to For Once in my Life shows his versatility and how he can change style like turning on a light switch.
Sammy was brilliant. The guy with the deep voice was excellent too.
OG tiny desk
Hold on. Love the way he sang it.
Barbi Benton.WOW!....
Astounding how cute she was
Such talent
Sammy was going to do one song and then go but he wouldnt leave! he just kept singing!
Rip Sammy ❤

That white lady singing got some SOUL in her

Hef bringing racial diversity to t.v. in the "70's, good for him!!!
Classy , good music, and dance men dressed like man, and woman as,well. The dance moves didn't need to be shaking buts. Where class has gone? Please let me know as i am able.
Is the Playboy After Dark series available on DVD?
Two box sets have been released, now both out of print I believe. The sets each contain 3 episodes, but not the one shown here.
Blink sang that song.
THAT SOOOOOUL BABY ✊🏿✊🏿
That wasn't no dam soul.. that was a white woman trying her best to sound like what she thinks black people sounded like
Sammy loved the cocaine and shared it with everyone! ah the 70s
That looks like a 'One small step for man...' kind of setting.
JANICE PENNINGTON FROM TPIR STANDING BEHIND COMEDIAN PAUL MOONEY FROM ABOUT 12:15-14:00.
I was wondering if anyone else caught this ... she was beautiful.
Pretty heady company for a 20 year old with social anxiety issues at the time. :) (Bill Medley)
19:35 “We’ll you’re looking groovy I really dig the…”
Joan benton definitely gives "LET ME SOUND LIKE A BLACK PERSON AS MUCH AS I CAN" on this episode
who is singing love One another?
5.00 compare with b s & t version from their second album (david clayton- thomas)

Get a life little girl……
very interesting perspective thanks. i can see that being the case as 16yr old!!
Barbie Benton never did anything for me.
That’s ok, plenty of fish in the sea
Nor me ... she was cute, at best.
The performers are great, but the attendees of the "party" are so phoney...
Robert gibson, those people didn't deserve the greatest entertainer,Sammy davis jr.those people thought they were in a fashion show.
@@robertrothberg8678 With maybe one or two exceptions, they weren't worthy of Moms Mabley, either.
It was a professional production of professional dancers, well versed "bunnies" and some guys with too much money for your average LA rub n' tug.
