    What is the diversity rate like at UCL? I want to apply but afraid that the diversity rate is low. Is there a decent amount of black students ?( Im nigerian and would love to meet my people) ❤️

      Thanks so much for your comment! And apologies for the late response! And I'm glad you brought diversity up cause of course it's an important to know black people being represented. As a black student within my first two years it was pretty isolating, moving from my sixth form which was very diverse to uni was an entirely different experience for various reasons.
      I studied information management for business and whilst my class was diverse in a way my secondary school and sixth form wasn't, there still was not enough BAME representation on the course. Out of 110 or so students I was one of a total of 2 black students and that was quite isolating but it's varies between degrees.
      But then when I finally decided to join ACS sometime during my second year my experience changed and it made my time at UCL infinitely better because whilst the black caucus at UCL makes up a small percentage there is a lot of ACS members and you'll meet and make friends with students from other degrees

    This was so helpful! I have a question, for the business management course with 1 year abroad is it okay that I have GCSE maths grade 5 considering I didn’t pick it for A-level? Would they be lenient because of the fact that I didn’t write GCSEs because of the pandemic?

    Hey, I just wanted to know, is it possible for people to be allowed to transfer to a different t course. I assume ure in your 3rd yr or maybe even finished ur degree and was wondering if u have ever witnessed ppl transfer to different courses within the university e.g I have my deferred place to study geography next yr but have met the requirements for another degree which I’m more interested in but had never seen before (bio processing of new medicines business management) do u think this is possible and if so how.

    This is an amazing story. Funnily enough I’m actually planning on applying to UCL for urban planning. The only thing is that I’ve never planned on going to uni before bc my dad was really anti further education. Because of this I didn’t really get ideal grades for my GCSEs. I passed every subject and some grades were really good but I got a 4 for maths. I’m going to be in year 13 next year so I can’t retake maths but urban planning at ucl is the dream! The grade required is a 5, do you still think I could get in or would I be automatically rejected?

    • @miaow662
      @miaow662 4 года назад +1

      try ringing them to ask as sometimes they can make exceptions if you meet special requirements, otherwise you could maybe take a gap year and retake maths then reapply but i'm not sure if they would accept that as you would be sitting it in a different year

    • @joshwayoe
      @joshwayoe  4 года назад +2

      Thanks so much for the message I really appreciate that! And exactly like mia said they ocassionally make exceptions. However, a friend of mine who got into UCL the same year as me in 2016 had to retake GCSE english to get a C grade whilst doing A Levels to be able to get onto the Information Management course. So that may have to be an option but I really hope you get onto Urban Planning one way or another, you've got this!

    • @user-qz9oz7ez7e
      @user-qz9oz7ez7e 4 года назад

      Joshua Wayoe ah I just saw mias message now. Thank you for the advice. I don’t really have an option of retaking maths as I’m entering year 13 and I know I won’t be able to balance doing maths and 3 a levels at the same time. I heard they make exceptions for extraneous circumstances and for me that was going to one of the worst school in the U.K. which actually ended up getting shut down once the year after I left. I hope that gives me a good chance. I also have a lot of stuff on my personal statement which should look good :/ I’m just stressing too much about this lol

    is it true you must have a qualification on foreign language to get in to ucl and i have a grade 4 in maths and english, is there a chance i could still get considering i have a shit gcses grades

    • @joshwayoe
      @joshwayoe  4 года назад +2

      So typically they want a C/Grade 4 at least in English and Maths and I know a friend of mine had to retake English to get a C in 2016 before he could get an offer but they might make exceptions. If like me you did not do a foreign language for GCSE you have to take a 0 credit language course at UCL
