- We left Juneau, Alaska for winter and are now headed south with a goal of eventually wintering in Wrangell. We headed to Hydaburg, Alaska. Eric lived there for a couple years and he wanted to go back and see the village. These are our adventures in Alaska on our Nordhavn. How we live and where we go.... and sharing information on our anchorages.

Thank you for entertaining us in Omaha, Nebraska. We look forward to each of your videos. We hope to cruise Alaska in 2026. Take care.
That is so great to hear! Cruising on your own boat or on a tour boat?
I love these vids ,awesome stuff , stay safe fellow seafarers
Thanks, will do! You too!
Sorry your going to be off line. Until you can find smaller vessel!!!
We are catching up on our Alaska videos! Hope to get the new boat videos out soon!
My name is Eugene Natkong I still live in Hydaburg and trying to remember you and you may know me? Just wondering and the nice video and beautiful boat you have.
Sorry for the late reply!
Eric recalls the last name Natkong from when we lived in Hydaburg during 1976-77. I want to say the person I’m thinking of was in the military/army, perhaps during the Vietnam war, and was quite a bit older than me.
Was that a gun case floating in the water or a log?
Just a log. We get lots of those in Alaska, but many more in Canada.
How does the village get electricity being so remote?
That is a very good question! The communities were and still may be served by Alaska Power and Telephone diesel generators. The Haida Corporation has submitted a proposal to the Alaska Energy Authority to construct and operate a hydro electrical project on Reynolds Creek. I am not sure if that project was ever approved and completed. I know in Juneau we run off hydro electric from Snettisham and if the lines go out our back up is generator power.
A ute? What's a ute? (My Cousin Vinny)
I love "My Cousin Vinny!" They actually gave us a copy of the video in arbitration advocacy school to learn the rules of evidence. Thank you for watching!
