      Hey - we managed to get the desired result tonight, don't you know! The idea was to _look_ like we were giving it a go. In the prem title race, the other 2 went out of euro comp last night and will be hurting. Klopp is laughing that he could get a win with zero fuss that also saw them exit. Match-fixing by any other name, you could say. I'm fairly sure Atalanta would have bit hands off to take a nice 1-0 defeat on the night.

  • @96Staley
    @96Staley Месяц назад +9

    A big reason for our success over the years were the overlaps on the wings which drags defenders out and creates more space in the middle. At the moment it feels like we are a massive triangle where the ball just gets played across the back four then forced through the middle. We are crying out for width, stretch the pitch and create overloads. I'm tired of seeing Diaz pick the ball up on the halfway line completely isolated, and tired of watching Mo hold onto the ball then pass it back to Ali. Natural wingers are needed

      Don't exaggerate. Other clubs have just as many games, press just as hard. He didn't prioritise the first leg and with it going the way it did, he certainly didn't care too much in the second. We also like to think we're still in the title race (we are indeed) and with the other two going out last night, you have to think Klopp was happy to even things up by accepting an early EL exit. It wasn't fatigue that saw all the dicking around at the back, passing back to Alisson, when a second goal would have thrown the tie wide open. It was a thinly-veiled desire to exit comp to focus on the prem.

    • @PerputuallyCensored

    I think it’s a combination of things - yes the team is tired, but the way we play forces that on the players come be business end of the season. We also concede early in most games, finally, we don’t play well when man marked and heavily pressed. So team look to score against us early, then man mark us and press hard - as we are no without the energy our basic game plan is exposed. To improve we need to develop into a team that can win without relying on blitz Kreig counter attacking - we need to have a plan B which is more like the City approach - then of course we also need to be clinical

    The team is physically and mentally spent, and has been for a while, due to Klopps style. All his career he has flogged his players to death. Quite simply, his style is unsustainable over the course of a season and over successive seasons. This is why we have non entity seasons every other/third season. The players are burnt out. This is why we have won 1 league title in 9 years, the same as Leicester City, who did it with far less money/resources than us. Not exactly a great record for someone regarded as "elite" and paid millions.
    Hope the next guy has a more sustainable playing style than Klopp.

    The bottom line is Macca, Endo, Nunez, Diaz, Gapko, Elliott, Bradely, Quansah Kellecher, Gavenberch, Clarke carried this team since February.

    The performance was as bad as the last 2 games. The only goal we could score was the penalty.
    We just looked toothless and once the 2nd half started you just knew it wasn’t going to happen. Usually in the last 10 minutes you start to think we can still do this. But tonight you just thought we couldn’t score an open goal for the last 260 minutes so how can we score at least 2 in the last 10 minute of this game.

    I don’t think Bayer L spent loads of dosh on players - they are absolutely flying. It can be done, but need a better system and manager and identify players that are good enough. Can’t have players in the team that constantly miss chances or cannot defend, or too slow.

    Klopp is mentally and emotionally goosed. He thought he had enough in the tank until the end of the season, but has fallen just short. You can see it in his press conferences, particularly when we don’t win. He just wants it to be over. It’s really sad, but there is no escaping it, and it has unintentionally transferred to the players.

  • @ryanmaxwell2273
    @ryanmaxwell2273 Месяц назад +1

    The 2nd half was piss poor. We couldn’t get the the ball to the half way line let alone to forward players. We were marked man for man yet again. We were out numbered in the middle of the park and every passing option with their backs towards goal. Everyone who came deep for the ball was tracked and it was easy and repetitive. Klopp should have got the full squad behind the half way line for a period and build up the pitch with triangles and players close enough to win second balls

  • @TerribleEnglish

    The same as last season; sticking with the same players in the same formation and same style, and refusing to switch it up or drop players. Eg: we looked dangerous and especially unpredictable with Nuñez left and Diaz right, but then Salah came back, Nuñez went back through the middle and we've been poor.. and stuck with it anyway! The kids, the cup final heroes, are completely forgotten too.

Cause we have over performed we have gone from what should be Very Good season to the End of the world. What am hearing on the grape vine May be it’s time for the likes of Mo and Van Dyke to go if that’s what they want. I just wonder have the players heard something regarding the new manager.
    David Ornstein did an interview with a US TV media network earlier this week. It was clearly orchestrated by FSG.
    During the interview Ornstein stated that Amorim possibly wasn’t the number one choice. He spoke about LFC possibly springing a surprise where a new managerial appointment is considered.
    There have been other similar rumours this week regarding Amorim not joining LFC, and feels as though FSG wanted the rumours to be in the public domain.
    Have the players got wind of who the incoming manager could be and it is an underwhelming option?
    Something is off because teams don’t just implode like this. Not when they are getting their long term injured best players back.

Let's face it both the Brighton (Welbeck 2mins) and Sheff Utd (Lucky Nunez keeper deflection) games which came straight after, were very very dicey for long periods and it's slipped away from there. The last best performances were the 1-1 against City at Anfield and the Southampton 3-0 in the cup which was a masterlclass performance. Forget the Utd fa Cup game, that was just stupid. I'ts finished. More concerned about Villa 8pts behind us and 3 away games to come.

    The reality isn't Klopp or the tactics, it's what we've been seeing consistently throughout the season, IT'S THE FORWARDS. How many chances have we missed from these guys? The reason why we're losing so consistently recently is because our talisman, Salah, left himself with the national team after the injury and looks like a shadow of his former self. Regarding everyone else, the shooting coach should be slapped for not getting them into shape. Jota is our best striker right now....Jota. I used to borderline groan before this season when he came on. Nunez is a monster and with correct practice he'll be hitting 30 goals a year easy. We need to sell a couple of strikers (Gakpo, Salah, Diaz maybe) and buy another couple that can legitimately finish. We should also sell someone from the midfield and bring in a monster DM. Can't wait for Amorim

    It was bound to start to creep onto the pitch. Rumors of players maybe leaving, or wanting to leave, Klopp giving interviews of life after Liverpool, big changes to backroom staff, and uncertainly over new manager. It all slowly adds up. You can also see that Klopp's starting to go on holiday in his mind. Don't want to say this, but I think he's starting to lose the dressing room. It was all good and dandy if everything's going our way, but a slight wobble and you can see things aren't as steadfast as we like to think.

If that’s the best Klopp can come up with then the sooner he goes the better. It was utterly shameful. Losing with a spirited, passionate performance is the least we expect. Ali, Trent, Virg and Konate on go-slow looking like they didn’t fancy it and couldn’t be bothered is a disgrace.

      I understand your frustration, but it feels a bit unfair to to single out the backline. Atalanta marked every player at all times, the midfield was overloaded, which forced Trent and Ali to ping the ball to the wingers and from there the movement in the final third was really lacking. Especially in the first half Mo and Cody dropped all the way to cdm to collect the ball several times to help out playing through the press, but then we had no one up front to make the attack dangerous and we kept giving the ball away until both tired out and stayed up front in the second half.

    Really shouldn’t have bottled the Europa League. There is hope. Gotta try and do a “Leverkusen”, strong set up, defensively robust, go to the market and find those players talent and execution an abilities. This time make sure they can bloody score and not miss like our front line FFS!

    If I was betting man I'd put a bet on Liverpool loseing to Fulham as we look hopeless in front of goal. They spent the whole of last night passing the ball back to the goalkeeper rather than actually attacking. The team is a joke right now. The whole team doesn't look like they can be arsed. Sorry but I'm not having this they look tired they get paid enough money to play the game you should be top of your game at all time. This lot should try having kids working 40+ hours per week and do all the other things that need to be done in life and then they will know what tired is. These lads get paid enough to have everyone run errands for them I think its just lazy.

    We dont have a divine right to win all the time we so needed a second to sustain hope that we could do it. We actually needed some individual flashes of brilliance to shake it up you could see belief draining away. Dan you were right, they didnt have another way. That is why a fresh approach is needed. Konate isnt a play maker. McA not in the best position to do it. Salah off the boil but getting there. Too many not at the hundred percent but near which isnt enough.

    Plan A has been countered, no Plan B. Rumours now that it was Klopp and Linders who insisted on buying Nunez against others wishes who stank again last night. Somehow, we ended up buying Diaz, Nunez and Gakpo who all play in the same position when we clearly needed a striker, which Nunez isn't and will never be, despite the arrogance of someone who believes he can coach him into one. Someone compared this to the end of Wenger at Arsenal and they're right.

    We aren’t as good as everyone thought and it’s now coming home to roost. Quadruple kings just 3 weeks ago……and the amazing Man Utd started the rot, then world class Crystal Palace then added to the misery……and yesterday European kings Atalanta scuppered us in Europe. Remember when Dom Sob was the next Gerrard. Our fans are almost as bad as Arsenal fans for going OTT. Can’t wait for the League Cup parade……going to be amazing.
