I KNEW I recognised that gamertag! This game was against me! I’ve been enjoying your vids for a while and it was such a nice surprise to see this on your channel. It was such a fun and intense game, went straight in my favourites, and I had an absolute blast watching it back. Funnily enough I rarely play kickoo, and normally go for imperius, but I’m glad the matchup made for an interesting game! I can’t remember why I went for riding/roads in this game, I’ll watch back my perspective and try to remember, but there would have been a map-specific reason. I was so proud of baiting your first giant into that houdini - I calculated the exact stars I’d need for my two monuments a turn in advance, and laughed during the game, and even harder when you were talking in the video about taking the city. I got a wall there partially to bait you into sieging it, and partially because I knew it’d be a key city. That houdini was actually a pretty pivotal moment in the game for a funny reason - I had really good vision of your cities, knew the size of your economy, and honestly I thought I was miles ahead (my spawn was way better than yours like you said). Lots of players will quit in your situation, when they get houdini-ed and are behind, so I started being complacent. I made a bunch of errors from playing carelessly - getting ramming at the wrong time, letting you siege on T14, neglecting navigation, setting up my catapults a turn too late… maybe I should’ve got that bridge earlier? Plus the fact my water access was pretty poor. You played so well and so persistently that you ground me down. This is a good example of what you say a lot in your videos - don’t quit too early! You overwhelmed me on the water and my ground offensive was too slow. The nailbiting base-race finish of this game was so much fun to play, and I never knew which way it was going to go. I was really impressed with your play all through it, and it’s so great to know I was playing against someone whose videos I watch! It’d be great to play you again sometime, feel free to add me. Thanks for all the entertainment! P.s. at 49 minutes you asked why your opponent would attack with that rider - the answer is just that I wasn’t paying attention and forgot your giant was on a forest tile. Then the bridge baited you off the forest :P
The suicide was to get a fully healed unit, so he could kill your giant on the next turn. Your opponent really understood what the polycalculator would tell him on a number of plays, e.g. healing his defender to 10 so that you couldn't kill it with your archers and siege it with your raft on the prior turn. He also placed a swordsman so that you would have had to sacrifice a scout to pull off that siege.
Turn 20 you could have gotten Navigation for 16 stars and collect 16 stars back from the 2 starfish u were on with your rammer and raft. You would win the game later with strategic Bomber Spam..
Around 17:30 - it was better to tak e farming 1st since it didn't change the stars but it made your lvl3 upgrade 1 fruit cheaper ...and then you didn't realize it and did it wrong lmao
Love your vids. One thing to improve is maybe adjusting you mic settings as it can currently pick up you breathing and swallowing. Just friendly criticism, hope you have a great day.
The game would have been an easier win, if you'd been ready to cloak them the turn after they captured your city. It would have blunted their attack into your back lines on your bombers and your capital. That capture was inevitable by the end of turn 26 and the capture on 29, so you had just enough time to pull that off.
