I was lucky enough to see Rise of the beasts nice and early, and in Imax 3D. And I liked it so much I went back in to the very next screening. But there are a few pretty big dissapoints.
Here I talk about Apelinq, Primal, Optimus, Airrazor, Bumblebee Unicron, exosuits and mirage.

Some minor stuff that I liked
-Bumblebee using his radio here is actually pretty fun and I also loved that part where Prime essentially grounded Bee from going to the theatres, I thought that's a cute interaction
-Airazor and Primal talking about Prime was pretty cool, I loved the little hints about where (or when) they came from
-I love how done Prime was with Scourge, Prime was spittin so many banger lines
Yes when he was fighting scourge and he said “it’s just you and me now” reminded me of his first fight with megatron in the 07 film where megatron and prime said the same thing and megatron responds with “no it’s just me, prime” not sure if it was a call back but that’s what that line reminded me of

The thing about Unicron is that this movie is only supposed to set him up as the big bad of the trilogy, so if his presence is relatively sparse throughout, I’d be fine with it. Honestly, I would prefer it this way, so that they can properly build him up for future installments.

There was a reference to the Bumblebee movie and Charlie. Whenever optimus insults humans bumblebee says, "They are my friends." And optimus responds with. "I know one human was good to you, bumblebee" (meaning charlie)

About the small nitpick at 3:27, when Optimus is doubting they can trust Noah, Bumblebee tries to convince him that humans are good in which Optimus then rebuts him, saying that just because one human helped him doesn't mean all everyone is good, kind of a nod to Charlie from Bumblebee.
Also Wheeljack being in Peru while all the other Autobots are in Brooklyn could be that there are other Autobots stationed around in every continent on Earth. Stratosphere is most likely stationed in the UK with his like Scottish/Irish accent (and only comes to Optimus' aid when requested because he's big and can fly), and same goes for Wheeljack who is only stationed in South America in general
Which means that ironhide and ratchet could be somewhere out there

Rhinox is my fav from Beast Wars. I was hoping for some indication of his being the brilliant engineer and not just a big bruiser.
The Dump truck actually can make sense without mass shifting. Mirage just has to become the bare minimum of what the vehicle needs, and have his hologram powers fill in the rest of the vehicle.
Mirage is not a common cybertronian, he has much higher control over his body than the others, the whole turning into an armor thing I don't think can be done by other autobot

Did anyone else get some serious Ultron vibes from Scourge? I mean, even his real face looks like Ultron.
Anyways my favorite moment was when you could see Arcee mouth “oh fuuuuckkk!” In slow motion.
I figured Noah's exosuit was the beginning of us getting head and target masters. Also wish they name dropped other bots like AirRazor talking about Silver Bolt.
I thought it was supposed to be a callback to G1 spike's exosuit in the G1-start of the G2 movie.
I think they should have added just a few more terrorcons maybe like 2 more if they have Battletrap they should have added Skytreads or something. Also why wasn’t Cyclonus in this movie?
Because this scourge is not related to the scourge of g1 it's based on the one in robots in disguise 2001 so cyclonus being in this wouldn't make sense because they are not based on the same continuity
@@Thevishislandactually this scourge is more a mix, hes unicron tracker in this movie, but with a rid2001 design inspired, and a whole new personality, which made him more justice than in g1, since there we was literally a comedy char, so its still possible fro cyclonus to appear in the future, and maybe with bludgeon and sideways as terrorcons

Cyclonus may be the next villian to fight. And then in the last movie of this trilogy (supposedly) we’ll have Galvatron show up. “Scourge and Cyclonus were nightmares… but Galvatron..? Hes the worst of them all…”
6:08 - Wow, that's actually a crazy spoiler which I was not expecting LOL. And these spoilers make me more confident that this movie will do great. Also about the G.I. Joe crossover, even if this had potential to be good, the risk isn't worth it. The franchise would be hurting if this is not successful.

My theory for Mirage’s multiple alt modes, is that he’s able to use his hologram and mass shifting ability to temporarily disguise himself as anything he wants, which is why his robot mode still just has his Porsche car parts regardless of what he’s disguised as.
i watched it too and DAMN, that was awesome, i really thought mirage died at the end, and in the post credits scene, i was glad. airrazor's death also scarred me emotionally, and mirage was also funny as hell, and damn that final battle was heated. also never noticed how MASSIVE stratosphere is
I’m honestly happy with how unicorn was used. I was worried that he would transform in the third act and the characters would end up destroying him by the end of the movie. I felt concerned because unicron is basically the final boss of the transformers franchise and having the autobots fight him before we even see megatron just felt wrong.
In Battletrap's death scene, I noticed Primal mainly hit his chest. Battletrap most likely could've survived that, since his chest is larger than most bots due to his alt mode. I just hope he survived. Love that guy. Thanks for the amazing video!

What I hope from this upcoming trilogy that they set up here, is that in each movie we get to see one of the 3 big baddies from the 86 film. So in ROTB we got Scourge ofcourse, so maybe in the sequel we'll get Cyclonus! And in the one after that we'll eventually get Galvatron!
I would love the idea that sector 7 evolved to become G.I Joe and cobrea became like mech from tfp where they take dead transformers and tries to make their own tech
As someone who’s a newer fan to this entire franchise, I feel like I enjoyed this movie a lot more than a big chunk of other newer fans? This movie felt like it gave a lot of information quickly and easily, in a way that’s easier to understand (Maximals dynamics, optimus’ arc, maximals and humans, etc) and it felt like a lot of fans HATED that part of the movie. But I really loved it! This movie was a lot of information, but conveyed in such a fun and emotional way that was a lot easier to digest. Like a really long version of those history and science videos from John and Hank Green. I was loving every second.

I assume the maximal are still from the future like in the cartoon. Hopefully a future movie can give us some maximal vs Predacon goodness
Edit: after seeing the movie I'm completely sure the maximals were from the future. Not sure how it wasn't obvious to some.
Especially when Primal gets introduced and Prime goes “primal?” And he says “named after you, one of cybertrons greatest warriors.” I was like brooooo thats so awesome

I highly doubt primal is younger than prime and even if he is, he's not a descendent of prime. They aren't from any future when no time travel was involved

From what I'm hearing is that it's a great movie, but whenever it's compared to Bumblebee some would say it's better or it's lesser. I'm conflicted, since I enjoyed Bumblebee and I'm not sure what to expect.
You'll like it regardless, it's like if Bumblebee had a final fight scene like TF 1. The CGI looks bad compared to the Bayverse films but for the average person it won't make a difference. Some of the action was hard to follow for me but when it's a 1 on 1 it's pretty good

@@emie1170 yeah the bayverse having female characters who were eye candy, inconsistent contradictory lore, action scenes that had too many cutaways and focused more on humans half the time, portrayed optimus inaccurately after the 1st film, made the decepticons fodder in the sequels including megatron, tf5 nearly killed the franchise, so yeah how is the bayverse "unbeatable"?
People be judging quality based off action scenes and no plot these days 🤦, tf prime is everything the bayverse movies weren't

I am glad Unicron didn't transform, I was scared that he will. I think that Mirage's other alt modes were fake, also i loved him so much his jokes were balanced, he was charming and serious at the moments where he had to be, and when i thought he'll die my heart was falling apart. I don't know what the hell was wrong with Pablo, he was so useless, i could forgive his design and voice if he resurrected Bee, made that arm glove for Noah or anything useful they literally had no reason to change him except in marketing purposes to approach Latino audiences and sell them good movie, hope they'll rework him in next installments. Bumblebee was so awesome, i like how he maintained his Icon trough smaller role. Arcee turned good instead bad as how I thought she will because i don't like her voice actor, i think she's cringe. Optimus was good and not more than that, and i thought that his development could be explored even more he didn't look stoic enough and I think that can not be achieved so fast... Maximals were so great, mostly the Apelinq and Primal who was breathtaking, and at the moment where Apelinq was talking, i felt his fear and got really sad because of him, I knew what was going to happen to him... Really honorable character, his death becomes our oath :) Really got sad for Airazor and thought she could transform at least once to see her glorious mode. Battletrap was cool, love the way he died, and I felt really good when all of them died mostly Scourge and that line "Feel the real power of the Prime", was legendary. I don't know why they had to implement Trans person, Nightbird's actor sounded awful and ugly i didn't liked him at all despite his personal Transformation XD. Love how Scourge fights, almsot like he predicts every move, and yeah it was stupid how he died so fast randomly.
I don't see this being anything but confirming we're in reboot series, also loved how brazenly named dropped primus like wow that would never have been done before.
I also believe that wheeljack isn't based on wheeljack but rather beachchromer, take the time to compare the 2 and you'll notice similarities

I wanna know what decepticon he scourge killed tbf. He clearly has a collected insigna.
Honestly I really enjoyed this movie. The action is great, the visuals are incredible, and most importantly the transformers feel like actual characters, rather than shells of a characters.
The minimal Maximal dialogue was a bit disappointing, but I understand because it was really about Primal, it would’ve been neat though to know them a little more. These Maximals seemingly being the last of their kind sucks (as in a “Aw man” not a “I hate this”), I’d have loved to know or get hints of other scout ships leaving the planet or more stasis pods on Earth that the Maximals haven’t found yet, just something to indicate there are more out there.
The last thing that I was kind of disappointed about was the panning shot of the final battle, I think it would’ve been really neat to have not had that shot in the trailers. It’s a great shot and doesn’t take away from the movie when seeing it, but that reveal would’ve been legendary!
Me personally, I’m not too upset about the Terrorcon backstory or screen time, I feel like they got just enough. Maybe I’d have liked to see more Scourge being a simp for Unicron? Perhaps trying to “convince” Prime that Unicron is and should be, like a cult.
Otherwise? One of my favorite Transformers media I’ve seen in a long time, nostalgia, Easter eggs, and hopefully leading to a new cinematic universe. I’m really excited for what’s next in the Transformers Universe (personally, I’m hoping for Dinobot, Predacons, and THE Dinobots at some point)
My theory about the Maximals is that they're actually from a future version of Earth where humans are extinct, and they used the Transport Key to travel back in time to "ancient Earth" way before Unicron's arrival, and that they simply didn't realized that it was the same planet that they just escaped from. Or maybe I'm way off and the Maximals' planet just simply looks like Earth and has the same creatures as Earth, just without the existense of humans
And with Mirage's transformations, I'm guessing maybe he has some kind of special T-Cog that allows him to literally take any form he wants, sort of like a more advanced version of his "mirage" ability, which also explains how he's able to turn himself into a human-sized battle armor
For me wheeljack change is ok because he was 7 years in Earth is long enough to make someone change
The pacing was great, transformers had a lot of screen time and the action was epic.
The script is the main prob and the middle act of the film but the final act is so amazing mirage standout characters the real dude who brings the humor and comedy scourge doesn’t care for killing he’s victims and removing there symbols as trophys
But overall this film is for true transformers fins if you just want full of action between robots to robots this is the film you need overall solid 9/10
Apparently, there was originally going to be a scene where they explain how mirage can turn into five different things and they say that he was using his hologram power to only make it seem like he's a different vehicle. I don't think it makes sense though, sunce he turns into the exosuit at the end and it isn't an illusion, so i think that a better explanation is that he is a shapeshifter kinda like makeshift in tfp.

G.I Joe does not have a good track record when it comes to live action. Like at all. So this crossover worries me

When arrival to earth started playing, my jaw dropped!!! And that Gi joe reveal at the end shocked me!!!! Hope they don't screw this universe up, like what they did with the last knight...

For wheeljack my guess it's because he is voiced by someone else. I thought he was played by someone else in the older Transformers movies. AKA things are changing and so are the Transformers one.
I only saw one or 2 trailers and I didn't see Bee jump out the airplane. That was awesome to see for the first time.
I did enjoy the hole plot with airazer and wish she had more screen time

Ok, so Unicron actually appears over Earth? That´s the first actual argument about this being a reboot that I can truly believe...
*Everything below is my opinion*
Cons:
-the maximals barely appeared despite the film being called rise of the beasts
-either bumblebee or mirage should've stayed dead because it would've given a reason for Optimus to be so dark in the film or an excuse for him to still be pissed at Unicron in the next film and be really dark
-Apelinq and Airazor should've been at least in their robot modes for 1 scene, but im gonna assume that ApeLinq has the same robot mode as primal due to the similarities of their beasts mode
-during the mid credit scene the guy at GI joe told Noah they could cure his brother, it would've been better if he was still sick because it could've made a good plot for the next film, maybe his condition gets worsts so Noah and mirage set out on a quest to find a cure because it's some sort of cybertronian sickness, and it could maybe introduce new characters like ratchet, ironhide and any autobot that survived/escaped the war because at the end of bumblebee we see a few autobot escape pods with 3 of them being Mirage, Arcee and wheeljack, leaving a few more pods with unknown characters that are probably around the world like wheeljack was
-Wheeljack, the robot scientist, didn't do science
-Mirage stole my favorite autobot's vehicle mode grrrrrrrr
Pros:
-small reference to charlie when Bumblebee is trying to convince Optimus that some humans can be trusted
-the first few minutes of the film was just CGI like the bumblebee movie and i'm a sucker for CGI
-GI joe reference, probably hinting to a crossover in the next film or a possible GI joe movie
-Really badass fight scenes
-it's Transformers
-Scourge looks like MCU Ultron hehe
-Arrival to earth AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
This movie is awesome but it honestly doesn’t even feel like a sequel to Bumblebee
Doesn't really feel like it uses any of the plot points, so basically just a timeline-wise sequel in a rebooted world.
Probably cause it's 2 movies fused together.

I went to the theaters to watch this for the first time with a couple if friends, and have never heard audible cheering in a theator before until optimus primal gave the order to maximize
I think part of the Scourge "face reveal" linked into that theory that he was Bayverse Optimus at one point, and probably dropped the idea but kept the camera movement.
I think mirage just uses all of his clones to make a new appearance for himself and then moves his parts to fit the visible details for the garbage truck. So he drives as a whacky half transformed half fucky wucky with Noah chilling in a makeshift cabin. As for the selling as an alt mode he shows off he csm be more expensive cars and to pull out sales would actually scan modes
I hope they wait until the third movie in the trilogy for unicorn to transformation. They also could have given us a Maximal planet flashback scene, like how they gave us a cybertron flashback scene in the last one.

In a sequel I really want beast wars megatron and megatron vs prime and primal that would just be dope. Although primus is mentioned in the film so we could get cybertron in robot mode so primus vs unicron in robot mode... that would be sick if done right.

No matter what Prime is my all time favorite character across series. However, i found that i loved Mirage's moxxy. I mean, he had the Sideburn vibes and Hot Rod vibes from RID and 86 movie respectively
I like the theory that scurge is bayverse prime corrupted unicron to be his right hand man. Kinda sad it doesnt turn out that is the case.
I saw the movie and Scourge had a scar or some sort of damage on his face.
Honestly I love this movie. Really fun to watch .my family always love the live action movies. And I love scourge my most favorite main antagonist other than Megatron I like how they gave him a little detail of having crooked teeth 10/10 would recommend

I feel Unicron is getting the Thanos treatment. He is so beyond anything the Autobots and Maximals can throw at him that a fight now would see Unicron slaughter them.
Just look at how Scourge was wiping the floor with everyone.
It's only a question of how many sacrifices will there be before its all said and done.
My dream TF movie would be like this/bumblebee but completely without humans.

I thought this movie was going to be bad but after watching it yesterday it's definitely one of the best TF movies behind DOTM
The zoom in on scourge face was I think supposed to be revealing scourge as bayverse optimus, but I think they made enough changes to make it ambiguous and it adds a lot more questions than answers. Also it's still debatable but from what Steven caple Jr. Implicated that's I believe the implication. Not my favorite tbh especially how the final battle against him felt kind of underwhelming and the height difference doesn't really make sense, but the film was overall a great time.
Just one question, have you seen the porsche post credit scene? I'm not saying anything just that it felt weird

The majority of my complaints an be summed up as inevitable issues that comes from being the first in a big expansive story this might be a tie with bumblebee for best transformers movie
Also I believe Scourge in the original series was one of Galvertrons second in command who was one of Megatons jets.
He used to be my favourite bot called Thunder cracker always loved his paint job when he became Scourge he led the group the sweeps to assist Galvertron in hunting the Matrix😀

I like it there are some thing i didn't like that much but the one thing i HATE is maskless optimus and don't say that it's modeled after peter cullen or so the audience can see optimus emotion because those are easy fixes

So I actually really liked the new ‘Wheeljack’ character but I think to keep things simple they should have given him a different name. The bit about him being ‘spanish’ and calling Noah out for being racist had me in tears - can’t help but think it’s a call back to skids and mud flaps . “He’s a robot, how was that racist?” Great line lol x

Not enough people talk about how Battletrap got JUMPED by Prime and Primal. Mans is like a Bumblebee level character, hyped up on Dark Energon, yes, but for some reason both leaders (Primes? Literally demi-god apostles of Primus?) locked eyes with this man and chose violence. Even had them fighting over who got to kill him.
Absolutely insane.
Also
If Unicron actually played a big role on this movie, the protagonists would be dead. You just don't fight Unicron as they are. Either Unicron wins, or they avoid fighting him. Anything else would be disrespectful. Can you imagine if Unicron transformed only for Optimus to shoot a matrix beam at him and he explodes? That's how you kill movies right there, cause that's the only way it could've been done. Unicron needs an entire movie to himself, honestly a trilogy is worth it.
My only gripe is that we haven't spent any time with this universe's decepticons much yet. We haven't even seen Megatron's face or heard his name that I remember.
However, this may be due to the fact that we had 7 films consistently over the last 2 decades about the decepticons. So maybe they feel it necessary to gloss over that bit.

Fr dude i never ever got the whole “primes a psycho, bad prime” like bro its WAR, prime is doing what he needs to do to protect his family, earth and the humans. And in this movie his arc is FANTASTIC and the lines he gives to Scrouge are soooo COLD i was like DAMN OPTIMUS!! Didnt have to go that hard!!
@@KiiLi3r i think its more he never felt like a proper character, just a vicious battle robot. I like prime in this because of the arc he goes through, and his utter brutal kill of scourge was pretty damn justified too.

This movie was actually GOOD! Not great but it got back to a simple plot which was well executed and my entire family enjoyed it. We can’t wait for the next one!

Got to say I always loved the original Transformers sad that they don’t have the original looks I hope next film if we get Megatron and Starsream that they look like there actual selfs not like the bayverse ones, the film was okay but did drag on a bit with nothing happening it was good but really was hoping to see Megatron at the end.

I liked the movie however I feel like it shoulda been the evil maximals (I forgot they’re names lol) VS the maximals it’s called rise of the beasts and we don’t really get much beasts like yea we have primal cheetor rhinox airazor etc but we don’t really hear cheetor talking nor do we really hear rhinox talk much plus where’s rattrap I mean cmon plus I think that unicron should have had his own movie with galvatron scourge and cyclonus plus……….. *there’s no waspinator* they coulda made him part of the team kinda like how scorpanox is, it was fine but I hope that the future ones are a bit better
I like the movie except for the humans because I thought they had way too much screen time and it got boring in the beginning. Also, I hate that they got rid of the transit scene for being “to dark”.
OK so I’m writing this before I even watch your review because I wanna make sure that nobody thinks that I am agreeing with you or complaining about the same things that you are complaining about so I don’t sound like I’m just jumping on board.
I’m just gonna say that I liked some of the changes but all in all….. I didn’t really like the film😒
I mean don’t get me wrong it’s not that I hate it it’s just that things about it seem way too much in line with the Michael bay films that I wish to forget about. It’s one of the situation‘s were “so close yet so far”. I won and I like a lot of the character designs…. But just like the Michael Bay they choose to sometimes over complicate the character designs while at the same time doing unnecessary redesigns that make no sense. I follow by a rule where you need to always make sure that the character is always recognizable. When you see Optimus prime you know it’s Optimus prime even before he starts to talk…same thing with bumblebee. But if you look at a character and have no idea who they are until someone either says their name or you see their name in the credits then you are not doing it right. That being said one of the things I hated the most about the transformers Bay design… was that they would overcomplicate the characters designed to look like some kind of creepy mechanical turd with numerous moving parts….. which leads to one of the other problems I will mention later. But that being said though I never understood why they feel like they have to give every transformer this unusually unnatural design. For instance and I hope this is not a spoiler…. There is a scene where we see a car showing up in Peru. It’s one of those types of volts wagon beetle vans that you see hippies it even has the paint job. Suddenly it transforms into what I was just identify as a….. well considering that this movie takes place in the mid90s….. I would say Urkel-Tron.
I say this because of the fact that for some weird reason it has big wide rim glasses and I noticed that it has two black straps that look like suspenders. So I’m looking at this and wondering what the heck am I looking at….. then they say the name Ratchet. I was like….”Wait…..THATS RATCHET?!?….WTH…WHAT CAN OF BAY SEE 💩, AM I LOOKING AT?!?” But of course it would be too much on the nose if he sound like Urkel but now they gave him a type of a Spanic hippie tone to his speech. Heck even the main character points out that he has a Hispanic accent and asks why a robot would have a Hispanic sounding accent. Which ratchet said what accent. Which just got awkward and started to get dangerously close to a type of social justice argument.
And even before that they tried to introduce Stratosphere. And when I saw the giant plane I was a little excited till I started noticing how it looked like it was falling apart at smoke coming out of it and I was thinking the myself for once can I please see a transformer who doesn’t look like he’s been utterly 🍑****ed by life?…..then transformed into a Irish sounding robot with a beard and airplane cap! Why do this every transformer should already have a unique design that makes them stand out among each other do they really need facial hair or hair in general and have these weird accents?
Then of course there’s the last part and it kinda is why I want to put this in the I don’t like category. I mean I know there’s gonna be a lot of transformer fans were going to say it makes sense but I don’t care. I mean if you have to do archives and look at old transformer comic books or old transformer toys to try to justify it then don’t talk to me…. We all know that Hasbro like a lot of toy companies went to a lot of see what sticks when they were trying to keep the transformer franchise alive so even if it did happen doesn’t mean it needed to happen. But yeah there’s a big spoiler at the end I’m not going to talk about because I don’t wanna spoil it but I know is I don’t like the direction that the movies are starting to go to it and I don’t think hasbro needs a MCU….. which I guess it would be more like a HCU?
Anyway I kind of regret watching this film it was OK and it did have a lot of things I like but I watch this movie and bumblebee because I wanted to get away from the Michael Bay version that just got worse and worse over the course of the films just losing its stability and constantly flying off the rails with new ideas that either never got filled or just nonsensical all together
So it doesn't mention Beastwars lore? The Maximals are from Cybertron's far distant future.
