I love watching these password episodes, but being that it's early videotape, and tape being magnetic, it develops what's known as print thru or the magnetic particles of the audio portion magnitizing adjoining layers of tape. In other words, the sound of the winning bell can be heard as a muffled echo before it actually is heard because the sound of the bell is loud enough that it has saturated the old tape to the point that the layers of tape leading up to the bell sound actually contain faint magnetic remnants of audio of the winning bell sounding. And because there is no audio in that portion of the show because the contestant is trying to think of the winning word and no- one is speaking at that moment you can hear not only the Bell, but loud dialog that is also coming up just seconds before you hear the actual audio of it. And the point I'm trying to make is that you can tell who wins a round before they actually say the winning password word because of the print thru of the tape layers. So it kind of spoils the suspense of who wins a round of the show. I know my explanation is long and drawn out and maybe even uninteresting or unnecessary but I thought I'd point it out

it made me think I had extra sensory perception because I could guess who's going to win 2 seconds ahead.

At 00:25 you can see a then 44-year old Betty White , wife of 'Password's host, Allen Ludden, sitting in the audience, front row, bottom left!

Kirk Morgan THAT would be nice. There is a week of episodes from January 1967 featuring Betty White vs Ross Martin that would be great to see. Ditto for the week of episodes with Soupy Sales vs Leslie Uggams.

Jeff looks like an actor that I have seen. He may have been one looking for money on the side over a visual medium, and seeking that first big break...or maybe not.
The one thing that is very apparent and not surprising is the well educated product of our schools back in 1966= top ten in the world, easily...Today..
not even in the top 25 worldwide.
How many adults today could come up with gilded cage, or could reference anything remotely like it?
Most today have trouble reading out loud, picking out cities and states on a map, or knowing how our government is structured at its most basic level..dumbed down schooling and culture does not adequately describe it.
But, they know who the Kardashians are and can read at fifth grade levels.
    Politicians love that.
And, we wonder why we believe half of the bilge we are fed today?

and they are preoccupied with the senseless social media.

That's true for every TV show and movie made now. Everything looks so dark, dreary, dull, and depressing. In the old days, the lighting was bright, there was plenty of vivid color, and it was all striking to look at. Just go look at an old episode of "Mannix" from the 1960s and compare it to a modern TV drama, and "Mannix" just looks so much better and inviting.

    *SPOILER*
Of course, "Lend-Lease" was a term that was coined many years before I was born--but I think that anyone who had studied American History would have been familiar with this expression--even in 1966!

Jeff was so antisocial! It was quite clear in the previous episode too. This is not a game for shy people. That’s why he didn’t win anything.
