Loved seeing Carol Channing when she was so young! I could watch these shows all day long!
Two great stars- so kind to the players.
What fun. I saw this episode back in 1963, I guess it was. I remember it for Ray Bolger's clue of "Scarecrow" and his partner saying, "You!" Many thanks for posting.

Carol Channing sometimes appeared to be a little ditzy, but she was a very kind and gracious spirit, and a tremendous talent, as everyone knows. You can tell that she truly cared about people.
First got to know Carol Channing in this program and I'm amazed at her natural beauty, humbleness and loveliness.
Gosh I love Carol Channing. I only known her by watching Password and she’s so classy and funny. I love watching all her guess appearances in Password 😘😘😘

Carol Channing was really adorable here. She looks much younger here than she was.
It's so interesting listening to Allen Ludden ask the guests about themselves. The men get asked their occupation while the women are asked what their husbands do!

To the women: "What does your husband do for a living?"
Because back then, the husband was often the only 1 that worked, i.e. the bread winner. If you aren't a baby boomer or older, for an ex of this, just watch an episode of The Honeymooners, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Leave It To Beaver, etc. Nowadays, the cost of living is so high that both the husband & wife usually have to work. In contrast, even in the late 60's, we paid as low as 16 cents for a gallon of gas, 2 scoops of ice cream were a dime, etc.
carol channing loved wearing lampshades as hats. this is the third episode i've seen her wear one.
For some reason, Carol's windblown hair look makes me think of cotton candy..

She died in 2019. Age 97.
The contestants and studio audience dressed and behaved impeccably.
I would think that Carol would have been in rehearsals for "Hello Dolly" by now. It opened in Detroit November 18th, 1963.

After Allen Ludden asks the contestants if they’re having a good time Carol says @ 16:40 “Sure they’re having a good time. We’re not”. Did I hear that right? If so I wonder why she said that?
I think because their team is behind. Just Carol being Carol.
johnfd0210 That would kind of make sense if Allen asked Ray Bolger and his teammate, but he just asks the contestants by name if they are having a good time. So Carol’s remark seems a little odd (even for her) and out of context.
Yeah, she didn’t think hers or Ray’s partners were very good. She also made a comment about the man not getting the word “patch”. I don’t think the filter between her brain and mouth always worked very well.
Allen lost his composure on all the craziness with "bunch"...

Allen was a good friend of Carol and her husband Charles Lowe (Army buddies). Doubt his intention was to treat her badly. She’s absolutely hilarious. One of the more entertaining Password celebs.

She was VERY annoying. But I still prefer her 10X over Betsy Palmer
