    Thank you for this video. I am looking at getting a couple just like the one in the video. I plan on using it in my grow bags. I think this will work better than hauling the water hose every day for watering and hopefully, this will give the proper amount of water. I will be using a couple of 30-gal. tote containers for the water and should only have to fill them up maybe every two weeks. If my math is correct. lol Again thank you for such an informative video.

    2 questions: How do you cap the last one? And, my unit came with a piece you didn’t address, right after the out flow but before the first drip line there was a piece to install that the diagram showed but the directions didn’t address?

    • @randyreviews
      @randyreviews  3 месяца назад

      I didn't cap the last one on this particular kit. I did on the next one and what I did is: I cut off the point on one of those spikes and stuck it in the tube. The piece you are talking about didn't come with this kit in the earlier version. I'm pretty sure you are talking about the anti-siphon device. I have another vid with another unit that had one, should be the same or similar to what you have. Right here around the 55 second mark I show how to install it. ruclips.net/video/5OAW8cyUvds/видео.html

    great video. how often do you run the drip system. does this device have a timer? thanks so much...bob

    • @randyreviews
      @randyreviews  10 месяцев назад +1

      The timer on there allows you to run it every 12 or 24 hours for, I think it's 5,10, or15 mins. I set mine to run twice a day. It seems to have a mind of it's own sometimes and it shuts down if the water runs out. So I can't say for certain that it runs EXACTLY at 12 hour intervals, lol. Hope this helps.

  • @user-pwfus
    @user-pwfus 5 месяцев назад +2

    The only thing missing is the one way water valve on the filter intake part so that you do not suck in air bubbles causing an uneven flow or clog with air, Other than that amazing system it can run many pots at a low level water feed depending on your setup.

    • @randyreviews
      @randyreviews  10 месяцев назад +1

      You can set it to run for 5,10, or 15 minutes either once every 12 hours, or once every 24 hours. That's basically how the timer works. I have mine set up outside and to be honest I haven't paid attention to if it goes off at the same time every day. The reason for that is because I just use a large bucket for the water source and it will run out. I will fill it up when I notice it and restart the timer. It beeps when the water runs out, too.

    • @randyreviews
      @randyreviews  7 месяцев назад +1

      Awesome! I've had no issues with the charging at all. The timer is a little weird but if I had a larger water source I don't think it would be a big deal. I did a follow up vid a few days ago, should show up at the end of this vid in the corner or something. I left mine out all winter and it's still working fine. I had an issue the other day. I covered the tubes with mulch and I think one of the lines might have pinched so the water isn't flowing. Maybe the guys stepped on it too. I have to unbury it and see what happened. The motor shuts off when it won't flow water so it doesn't burn out, so at least that's good.

      @randyreviews  Год назад +2

      After using this thing for a bit, I still can't figure it out entirely. I have tried setting it on 24 hour and I have noted the time only to find out that it ran out during the night. I have it outside so it isn't too much of an issue for me to fill the bucket daily, but I can see how it would be a pain in some instances. I never hear it running unless I turn it on myself. I have tried turning it into 24 hour mode at 9 AM for 5 minutes thinking that it wouldn't drain the entire bucket. I come out later, bucket is 1/2 full or whatever, then I come out the next morning and it's empty. As I write this I don't think that mine is siphoning, I think its turning on randomly. Sorry, I know that isn't much help.

    • @jeannekalvar9504
      @jeannekalvar9504 Год назад

      @@randyreviews I don't think it's the pump that needs to be higher than the water source. The area being watered can't be significantly lower than the water source. Otherwise, the pump initiates the syphon but the flow continues once the syphon has started based on the elevation of the lowest point on the line. I've had no problems setting it up so that the bucket is lower than the elevation of the plants. There are versions of this pump with anti-syphon features that should help.

      @@jeannekalvar9504 Thank you! I've got my water source about at the same level with the pump higher than the water source. The only thing sketchy on this for me at the moment is figuring out why it drains the whole bucket one day and not on others. It seems to be random weirdness.

    The most fragile part of this unit is the pump. Too many reviews saying that fails quickly. I have an off grid property with some sun sails that keeps a 50 gallon drum full of rainwater even in winter. I have some 5v solar panels laying around and am planning to test a gravity fed 5v solenoid valve solution with no timer or pump, just aim the panel west so that it opens the valve at around 4pm and feeds some closed 1/4 inch drip tubing with a few needle holes until the sun sets or weakens. According to AI 4 needle holes has a drip rate of about 1/2 gallon per hour. Assuming 4 hours of strong enough sun , that's maybe 2 gallons a day or possibly 30 days of drip service even when no rainfall which is rare in Florida even in mid winter.

    • @randyreviews
      @randyreviews  5 месяцев назад

      I have 2 different ones. This one in the vid has been working great for over a year and I even left it outside over the winter.
      I just got a second one made by "Antfraer" and it doesn't work very well at all. I really like the idea of putting needle holes into the tubing. I may give that a shot. I am also considering the next size up hose for that Antfraer one. It will barely pump 20'.
