    The jazzmaster is my favorite guitar. Also I immediately fell in love with this channel. There's a lack of REAL people on RUclips these days. Just authentic chill people doing what they love and hanging out.

    Jason has that look every guitar player gets when they let someone hold their guitar while she’s playing like “I know I said she could play it, but I want to play it now”

    Why this channel is awesome:
    1. Almost every video features a Jazzmaster of some sort.
    2. Chuck Norris clips while Tia plays the overdriven sounds.

    I was lucky to pick one up used last year, in ice blue - love that thing! It 's got so many tonal possibilities - honestly I think you barely scratched the surface of what it is capable of. My favorite sounds are clean on the neck PU, and fuzz overdrive.
    I liked your natural approach to this video, enjoyed watching. Keep 'm coming! Greets from Belgium, EU.

    I was close to buying one of these but ended up getting a used CIJ instead, pretty much because of availability. I also wasn't in love with either colour option for the vintage spec, I figured I might add some colour to the white one by changing out the pickguard.
    vintera seems like great value for money, everyone says the quality is great, while you're looking at half the cost of an American Original.
    I think, for me, the CIJ was the right move still. I feel like it's got more than enough quality, vintage spec design, but the neck is thinner which works well on my smaller hands, plus I LOVE the way it looks!

    • @KidAmnesiack
      @KidAmnesiack 3 года назад

      I did the same thing, had a Squier JMJM for a while but I yearned for a vintage spec guitar. I ended up buying a used 2003 Q series CIJ in Candy Apple Red and the build quality is fantastic. Since then, I've added a tortoise shell pickguard, Mustang bridge, and a set of Seymour Duncan Antiquity IIs and the thing really sings especially with a bit of breakup.

      Yup, they did exactly that. Here in the EU the Jazzmaster Vintera went from € 799,- (March 2020) to € 920- ish (April 2021) I'm just happy I bought mine last year... But man, what a guitar.... I had a lot of Jazzmasters over the years (mostly Japanese) but the Vintera is the best JM I ever owned.

    I have this exact guitar, it was the first guitar i bought for myself, because i had ben playing on a squier bullet strat i got from my mom. I was pretty unfortunate that my bridge was completely fucked, rattling and all. Being new to guitars, it was hard figuring out what the issue was, all i knew was it had extreme tuning instability, and that all the tones were wrong. Seeing as your neck pickup wasn't working, i would say that the cq is a bit iffey. I installed a staytrem bridge, and after doing so there hasn't been a problem with it, and it is a really superb guitar, and one i'm constatly amazed by.

    If you put 11's on them, you don't need a mastery bridge. 11's solve all the supposed issues you hear about. When it was designed, the lightest strings you could get was 12's, and it worked perfectly. 11's work just fine too.
    Anyway, I thought about getting the white one, but decided on the ice metallic blue. Mine is modified a bit. I put a gold anodized aluminum pickguard on it, tele knobs, 65 RI bridge and tremolo, and handwound lindy fralin's, because I killed the bridge pickup by accident.
    Now tele knobs are meant for solid shaft pots, but they can be used on split shaft pots too. What I did was I took a brass blade style feeler gauge, and cut it up with scissors (thin brass cuts easily with scissors), then I just stuffed bits of the feeler gauge in the middle of the shaft. That way the shaft sides don't get bent.

    • @aperezdeal
      @aperezdeal 2 года назад

      You also have the option of shimming the neck and raising the bridge which in turn increases the break angle. I’m convinced my buddy to return his mastery bridge after I set up his 1966 Jazzmaster but you’re right in that mastery makes excellent parts. Cheers.

    • @JasonTMays
      @JasonTMays 3 года назад +1

      I really love the Vintera Jazzmaster. But I would say for a $1200 the TVL is a really good choice. I would also recommend a MIJ version. But with prices being what they are, I would say if you can find a used AVRI in that price point that would be the best bet imo. but I really do prefer the oxblood TVL Jazzmaster.

    Hows that neck radius work with full step bends near the 12th fret?

  • @simonsmith2642
    @simonsmith2642 2 года назад +1

    The radius of 7.25” has nothing to do with the neck thickness. A 9.5” may or may not be thicker, I have 12” Gibsons with 50’s necks that would be like playing a 2x4 to her tiny finger bones lol. I really really think she would really really enjoy the 7.25” on the Broadcaster RI, I have one and its pencil thin, thumb over the top, skinny nut width, but still has a little wood to grab on the back very comfortable for small hands. I find it difficult with man hands to play it, its very petite. I this she would enjoy that. So don’t judge a 7.25 by that neck alone. Try others. Especially the broadcaster, I think she would love it!

  • @lamarfandango1623
    @lamarfandango1623 3 года назад +2

    Love your review! Nice tone and sweet playing. I tried a Vintage Modified but I couldn't get over the spacing between the trem and bridge. I don't do any behind the bridge stuff, but I felt like the whammy bar got in the way or I was grabbing for it and grabbing on to the bar and not the tip. I never expected it to live up to my AVRI '62, but I didn't think I would despise it so much. The Vintera is a lot closer to the discontinued AVRI series.

    • @JasonTMays
      @JasonTMays 3 года назад +1

      I agree, I think the Vintera is scarily close to the AVRI’ 62 guitars. I’m really shocked that a lot of people haven’t jumped on these cause they’re definitely a good alternative to the AVRI...also, they’re definitely on par with MIJ Fenders.

    • @hiroprotagonitis
      @hiroprotagonitis 3 года назад +2

      do all of those not have the same spacing between bridge and trem?

    • @JasonTMays
      @JasonTMays 3 года назад

      @@hiroprotagonitis no, the classic player started the trend of a closer spacing which has made its way over to the blacktop Jazzmaster, the SQJMJM, the Player Series Jazzmaster, and the Vintera Modified Jazzmaster.

    • @hiroprotagonitis
      @hiroprotagonitis 3 года назад +1

      @@JasonTMays i'm aware, but it seemed lamar was implying they disliked the VMJM because they "couldn't get over the spacing between the trem and bridge" compared to what they preferred in the vintera and the AVRIs, which confused me because all three models should have the same vintage spec bridge-to-vibrato spacing rather than the closer modern spacing of the JMJMs, CPs, etc? unless i misread something

  • @kostasbk741
    @kostasbk741 Год назад +1

    There seems to be a manufacturing defect with the whole vintera JM line: they buzz/hum like crazy, unlike other JMs or other single-coil guitars. I think they are poorly shielded and not properly grounded on top. I tried one at a store and it was unplayable. I can also hear the hum in this video here.

      That's gotta be one of the most ignorant things I've read in a while lmao. In our capitalist system there is a working class, who has to sell their labor to survive, and a capitalist class, who own the means of production and make their money from stealing from the working class. With how things have been going the last 2 years we need socialism more than ever
