Logan is absolutely correct. Fans just don’t get that read on the players that the coaches do on the sideline. Major part of why some decisions are made that appear to not make sense.
I agree that the players were gassed and ideally you want to give them time to catch their breath. That said, my thing is we know the Eagles are likely going to score on the next drive anyways. They've already done their damage at that point and started to get in their groove. Philly isn't a drive all the way down field meticulously and score type of team. They're likely going to get explosive plays when they do, and to me that scream the fact that we're likely getting the ball back after they score, if they score, given the time remaining (which they ended up doing). Our offense was just starting to gain a rhythm themselves, so you give Jayden and the team a chance rather than forcing him into an uncomfortable situation where he ends up making a poor decision and coughing up an int. It's definitely a tough decision though; I can see the sense in either side of the argument.
I was of the intial feeling that "they need to take this 4th down play so they can continue their momentum and keep the defense off the field" until I looked at the remaining time, took in the current game state, and said "actually it's probably better to kick it, guarantee a few more seconds of rest for the defense, hope they can stop Philly, and have time left to cover for them if not."
Jayden is still HURT! He has played differently the last (4) games since he got injured and we've lost the time of possession game in those games....because our offense is not moving the ball like before. Thus, causing our defense to run out of gas. Note: We've had leads in the 4Q in all of those games, too. However, the sky is not falling and I still think we'll win 11 or 12 games. It's just obvious to me that he's playing hurt....AND a bit odd that AP/DQ are not being more cautious with his health. Considering how they've treated Coleman, Newton, Wylie, BRob.....with their injuries.
I agreed with the decision. Our defense was tired and couldn’t stop Barkley or get to hurts in time. Yes, Elliot was missing kicks all game but we needed a TD there not a FG
i’m an Eagles fan. The only thing that would give me pause about Jaden Daniels…. Is his age he is a relatively older rookie. He’ll be 24 in December, which is only about two years younger than Jalen Hurts… maybe wrongful thinking, but I guess I always feel it’s better if the quarterback is younger because it might note they have more room to grow… that being said he does seem like he’s playing hurt and I’ve been an Eagles fan for 53 years and literally this is the best secondary talent and depth wise in terms of coverage that I’ve seen for an Eagles team since 1980… the thing I saw on Jaden Daniels, which started me following the commanders this year was watching his poise, even in the first game of the year against Tampa Bay…. And I honestly would take him as a quarterback over. Jalen hurts if I had a choice.
Yea but if they take the points then when Philly ultimately does soccer that td it would then be 13-20(19) and Daniels doesn’t come out pressing like he did and threw that pick. 19-10 is worse than 19-13.
