There are so many ways to speak English around the world. A trip across the USA is enough to understand it. My first teacher was a Texan. My second a real British teacher. My pronunciation was awful for her. R is hard for Japanese people.
Yeah a win win situation. You can never go wrong by watching Abroad in Japan. Either you get some lovely sarcastic British humor, or you get this crazy outgoing Japanese guy that says "Fuck off" if you don't watch out haha
This is officially my favourite video of 2017 so far; if not for the confession of "BUT....I'M HORSES", then certainly for the discovery that Zebra's have "many poison". HUGE thanks to Charlie for tutoring Natsuki in the run up to filming in Europe - I'd like to point out for the sake of keeping the video a reasonable length (and entertaining), I cut out most of Charlie actually correcting/teaching Natsuki! Charlie has a free ebook on language acquisition which you can find here (bit.ly/2iTGfvI) - it's a really interesting read. For those of you learning English, he's also got his own channel called "Real English with Real Teachers", which you can check out here (goo.gl/XkbUFL)!
I have to agree, Chris. Your videos are always fun, but with this one I laughed so hard I've still got tears in my eyes. The dramatic zoom on the "but I am horses" thing just about killed me. Best one yet! :)
A lot of Dutch people stopped buying as much beef as they used to, after it was discovered that a lot of beef appeared to be horsemeat a couple years back. So in a way, Natsuki's strategy to pretend to be a horse isn't as weird as you might think.
Vin Crafter I think people just like to know what they’re eating. “I asked for beef, but I got served a horse?” if that makes sense. It’s also taboo for a lot of people to eat horse. So it’s a mix between not wanting to eat it and being pissed they’re not being served what they asked for.
@@Vinni-2K we definitely don't eat horse meat in Anglosphere countries. I don't know if there's anything objectively wrong with it, but it's seen as way worse. It would be like eating cat or dog.
lol then maybe this will work... ひとり、そして、おかねがぜんぜんないよ ちょうかわいそうなひとだし ぼくは when you walk into a restaurant in Japan just blurt this shit out.. It may get you free food. (probably in the back somewhere though.) put it in hiragana so you could read it... let me know how it goes, lol.
I laughed out loud 3-4 times during this video, and I never laugh out loud during videos, usually just a chuckle. Thanks Chris, this shit was hilarious.
I just love how Natstuki is willing to use whatever language he has available to communicate, and he's totally without embarrassment. He just goes with the flow and enjoys it all! He's an absolute role model for language learners. がんばってなつきさん!!
Hey Chris! I just wanted to let you know that I think you are great. I feel like everyone is commenting about Natsuki, and I also enjoy his weird but awesome personality. Seriously though, you are the reason I watch this channel. You're so funny and the content is golden. Please keep doing what you're doing. It's the best! Thumbs up from Sweden 👍
"close your eyes, yeah sorry I escape" LOOOOOOOL it sounds like a magic trick I would do when I was five xD Can't wait for this documentary, keep up the stellar work, Chris!
As an english teacher I can say that natsuki is the perfect kind of student. He tries to get his point across with the language he has regardless of whether he knows it or not and is not easily embarrassed.
Initially, I vehemently disagreed with that assessment. But having just looked back over the opening scene, there's a worrying degree of accuracy to it!
Not related to the topic but hey Chris, I purchased a box of scented candles from Daiso yesterday and the description on the box horrified and amazed me. I'll quote: "Beautiful scented candles perfect setting the house on fire. Ideal meditation. We produce for human beings." I am not yet using the candles lol. Whaddya think? Should I use them or not? 😂😂😂😂
Hello Chris, it's been quite some time! Good to finally have you back home and ready to post again! Hope you guys had a fantastic time and can't wait to see more of you two crazy lunatics running about. Try doing a video in full Japanese sometime in the future, i believe we'd all love to see this. (I am not talking about a tutorial or Japanese lesson, just host the whole video in Japanese) Can't wait for the Documentary to be posted! Keep up the good work !!!
Natsuki's English is actually pretty good, considering he's learned so much from song lyrics! He's better at English than I am at Japanese even after several years of learning and a part time evening course 😂😅 Loved the animal role play btw, nice editing with the photos 👍🏻
Your videos get me so hyped to start studying Japanese at University next year (which includes a year abroad later on) I'm generally an extremely shy person but these videos have actually given me the confidence I needed to take the plunge and commit to the decision :) so I just wanted to say a huge thank you:D
+Abroad in Japan Hey man! I haven't watched this video yet because i'm working my way up through your older videos, but i'm sure it'll be fantastic. I wanted to Thank You for all of your 'how to learn japanese' videos! They gave a wonderful insight into multiple struggles i've been having while trying to learn japanese, and gave me a much better understanding of what to do about them. Your channel has also been a huge help in providing several useful tools, and even other channels to learn from, to help guide me in the study. So Thanks mate.
What have you done, I have never been addicted to anything, not alcohol, not cigarettes, not cocaïne, not anything. but these videos man, they make me trip so hard, I can't without them anymore. thanks for ruining my life Chris
This is great! Also it provides useful insight into what a telephone lesson is like, so glad you released this it's actually aided me in a TEFL assignment.
You taught the man how to say "The dogs bollocks?" Do you not realize how addicting that phrase is? You've doomed us ALL! Also that guy teaching Natsuki seemed like a really nice teacher.
I'm not sure which would make a better t-shirt:
"BUT I'M HORSES"
"ZEBRA; MANY POISON."
or
"Salad. ON THE CORN."
Abroad in Japan Make them all :)
Abroad in Japan Why not all of them?
both. both is GOOD.
Have both
"Zebra, many poison!" is the new Doge.
I'm pretty sure it's scientifically impossible not to like Natsuki.
SystemCM pretty easy to like guts as well
SystemCM all I can see is him saying "go fuck yourself"
agreed
To actually hate Natsuki would be like a magic!
He's a sweetie.
"Close your eyes"
"Okay"
"Yeah sorry I'm escaped"
Good Lord above
Love the "sorry" part of that :P
Boop
But still close enough to apologise for escaping.
The added pictures to Natsuki's conversation about horses, zebras and lions was perfect. LOL
indeed
yessss!! made it even better !!! lol
Babababababe It made it so much funnier, especially the zebra ones 😂
I know! I was surprised there's actually a picture of a zebra climbing/ hanging on a tree
Agreed. Great work and timing.
Table for 1 but no money. SAME NATSUKI SAME XD
Abipop Natsuki has a way of expressing everyday problems in a very simple yet effective manner. I call them Natsukisms.
Waiting for Natsuki to start his own RUclips channel "Japan in Japan" and talk smack about British people
japanese in japan
More like Domestic in Japan
"At Home in Japan" has a nicer ring to it ;)
AndyFunny22 - Exactly! Domestic in Japan, haha..!
Not to be a debbie downer but Chris's channel name is a play on words:
Abroad in Japan = "A" Chris "Broad" in Japan
You can tell Natsuki's English has gotten better!, even from the beginning I could tell his pronunciation has improved a lot from previous videos!
But.......... I'm horses
I think he was just pretending to be poor at English. It's because sometimes his pronunciation sounds good to me (I'm also Japanese).
There are so many ways to speak English around the world.
A trip across the USA is enough to understand it.
My first teacher was a Texan. My second a real British teacher.
My pronunciation was awful for her.
R is hard for Japanese people.
+Utilisateur Lambda Yeah, you know well about the pronunciation problem that we've got.
Try the tongue twister "Red lorry, yellow lorry. Red lorry, yellow lorry..."
"Because Zebra...many poison"
"Really?"
"Yeah"
Animal planet lesson with Natsuki
OLGMC national geographic Japan xD
Maybe more like true facts?
Table for one but no money. Super relatable.
I don't think the scenario could have started out anymore depressing than it did.
I wonder if this happened in real life later... XD
Natsuki is a dine & dasher.
*jazz music plays*
Natsuki is such a genuine man I can't even explain how much I wanna hang out with him. I love that the teacher is such a good sport as well
And for some reason I find it cute and funny how his broken English sounds.
"Excuse me, I am cock-up."
I am in tears.
I love how your channel turned from "abroad in Japan" to "a japanese abroad"
lovely kid JAPAN third channel
Was the UK video ever posted?
I see Natsuki I press like, I see Chris I press like. So basically I always hit the like button on this channel
Yeah a win win situation. You can never go wrong by watching Abroad in Japan. Either you get some lovely sarcastic British humor, or you get this crazy outgoing Japanese guy that says "Fuck off" if you don't watch out haha
Or correction: "Go fuck yourself" ~Natsuki
It's like a magic.
I see Natsuki, I'm cock up
or you get the english accent thief ryotoro
"RA RA RA."
Hell yeah, you got this Natsuki.
"Clabs."
Damn...
well is difficult, but is also funny

Abroad in Japan I was dying at that part
Abroad in Japan Real what? your comment cut off at the end
I have to agree, Chris. Your videos are always fun, but with this one I laughed so hard I've still got tears in my eyes. The dramatic zoom on the "but I am horses" thing just about killed me. Best one yet! :)
Real English with Real Teachers
A salute to Charlie for being patient with Natsuki.
I know I couldn't do it ^_^;;
A lot of Dutch people stopped buying as much beef as they used to, after it was discovered that a lot of beef appeared to be horsemeat a couple years back. So in a way, Natsuki's strategy to pretend to be a horse isn't as weird as you might think.
Same in England, I think it was the same scandal. That is exactly where I thought Natsuki was going with it in a weird way.
but isnt horse meat better?
we eat it in italy
Vin Crafter I think people just like to know what they’re eating. “I asked for beef, but I got served a horse?” if that makes sense. It’s also taboo for a lot of people to eat horse. So it’s a mix between not wanting to eat it and being pissed they’re not being served what they asked for.

"Table for 1 - No money" - Relatable
lol then maybe this will work... ひとり、そして、おかねがぜんぜんないよ ちょうかわいそうなひとだし ぼくは
when you walk into a restaurant in Japan just blurt this shit out.. It may get you free food. (probably in the back somewhere though.) put it in hiragana so you could read it... let me know how it goes, lol.
lemonhead are you sure... That just sounds kinda joking and too casual since u used ちょ... the Japanese people will have "weird gaijin" vibes.
+Pancakes Bacon Not to be Dramatic and childish but...
WHAT RESOURCES DID YOU USE TO STUDY THIS VOCABULARY?
Probably the japanese equivalent of Natsuki speaking Englisb
グレースジェイコブ I assume you're not talking to me? I learnt my Japanese in school tho :)
I laughed out loud 3-4 times during this video, and I never laugh out loud during videos, usually just a chuckle. Thanks Chris, this shit was hilarious.
"But I'm horses"
Ahahahahaha
"I have poison, because zebra many poison."
I lost it xD
Jeekay Tenn Salad On the Cob
Ikr!! lmao!!!
..and tht pic is actually 'corn on a salad'. 😁
first time i've burst out laughing in quite a while. he reminds me of my japanese friend so much and this is totally something he would say
Same hahahha the Editing absolutely nails it too lol
natsuki is being transformed into na international superstar
I just love how Natstuki is willing to use whatever language he has available to communicate, and he's totally without embarrassment. He just goes with the flow and enjoys it all! He's an absolute role model for language learners. がんばってなつきさん!!
Pffft I bet _Chris_ isn't horses

As an english teacher I can say that natsuki is the perfect kind of student. He tries to get his point across with the language he has regardless of whether he knows it or not and is not easily embarrassed.
"Excuse me, I am cock up" is the most iconic string of words spoken in 2017 so far
Chris freaking started his video with "Hey guys"!!!!! FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!!
FOR ONE TIME ONLY
LMAO 'clabs' 'r r r r' 'clabs'
Japanese people usually pronounce l's as r, but Natsuki does the opposite xD
When natsuki said "Arigatou" that felt very very genuine.
Charlie's level of patience: GOD.
Teaching Natsuki English must have been a lot of fun for the guy
3 Michelin stars resturants? Natsuki has higher standards on food than I have on my entire future!
He's certainly ambitious for a man who walks into the restaurant and remarks "Table for one....but I have no money."
Ambitious indeed.
It was funny enough hearing him come up with the excuses to not be eaten, but those pictures just made it a million times more hilarious lmfao
I would love a series where natsuki teaches Japanese to chris and the viewers xD
Honest looking more forward to this documentary than the new star wars films.
David Attenborough should feature Natsuki in his next documentary, especially when it is about zebras.
I love this so so so so so much!!! The pictures thrown into the conversation was an awesome addition.
Chris I actually cried laughing so hard. This is gold, pure gold.
I think Natsuki may have confused "zebra" with "cobra".
well cobras aren't poisonous either
dogs bollocks ahahaha out of nowhere
He probably learned it from Chris. Bad influence that guy.
it was from a previous lesson, including the memorable quotation "i asked shop assistant: 'do you have dog's bollocks?'"
Even if he only learned to use the phrase "dog's bollocks" then I consider this a resounding success, he'll fit right into British life.
You two slowly resembles each other lol similar hairstyle, mustache, beard... even your clothes XD
Initially, I vehemently disagreed with that assessment.
But having just looked back over the opening scene, there's a worrying degree of accuracy to it!
Jona J omg hahahah thanks for pointing it out!
Twinsies!
He really gets into his role. A natural actor.
Not related to the topic but hey Chris, I purchased a box of scented candles from Daiso yesterday and the description on the box horrified and amazed me. I'll quote:

It's awesome that both the videos and the comments are hilarious on this channel.
Thank you Natsuki for making me laugh and brighten my day.
He is such a character. He seems like such a fun guy. I have loved seeing him in many of your videos.
Is he aware of his own defects?
McScrubber LOL
I was trying to search for this in Chris's videos but to no avail xD

"A £1 beef." Well, guess you can't be disappointed with British meat if you start off with low expectations.
Oh! I heard it as 1LB of beef. I think that's the first time a culture difference has led me astray.
This is too entertaining

This video made me so happy!!❤️❤️ Natsuki did such a good job doing his English lessons!!🥰🥰
The zebra and the lion had me laughing so hard, I cried X'D
I'm glad to see Natsuki had so much fun with the lessons :) . Always makes learning a new language easier when it doesn't feel like a chore.

Natsuki is the best person to ever enter your life by chance, Chris! He's such a cute likable guy. 😁
One of funniest videos I've ever watched all over RUclips 😂😂😂
That picture of the zebra escaping is brilliant
this episode was the dogs bollocks
OMG it was so cute when he said to himself "very good" and clapped. Awww. His english is pretty good
You guys should come to the states 😁 You could tour like musicians. "The Broadski Brothers"! I can see the sarcastic flyers now...
waking up to a new upload with Natsuki what a good way to start a day!
I cracked up the most during that restaurant roleplay when Natsuki said “I'm one mmm... But no money!” fantastic stuff Natsuki never change.
I could watch these and the hate mail videos a million times! They all make me laugh until I cry. Much needed relief these days, so thank you!
You taught the man how to say "The dogs bollocks?"

You've doomed us ALL!
Also that guy teaching Natsuki seemed like a really nice teacher.
How lucky Chris and Natsuki to have found each other and become such great friends. Friends for life !
