I love how the character shown here appears to be both Rin and Len at the same time/a cross between Rin and Len (they have Len's ponytail and Rin's bow)
I think this song is primarily mean to act as a sort of Genesis to the rest of the series. It seems to be written as someone just learning their own language ,such as a child, but having the influence of some other corrupting force blurring everything together. All the words learned with the blue sky (I love the illustration by the way) are meant to be "good words;" words that are generally associated with "good" things: mother, father, wind, water, friends, love. While the words learned with the dark sky are meant to be "bad words;" words to be associated with "bad" things: lie, wound, sin, retribution, evil. Compound this with the singer seemingly not actually being fluent or knowledgeable in the language they're singing in: "To convey what I am feeling now, what sort of words would be correct?" Then, while the good words are ended with that statement of someone trying to figure out just how to express themselves (I'm assuming in a happy or positive way), the bad words get ended with a very grim stanza: "For example, when you abandoned me. What sort of words would apply?" This line is somewhat self-explanatory, and it demonstrates that whoever our mystery singer is, they were treated horribly by an important figure, perhaps the very figure that made them happy previously; further blurring the lines between "bad" and "good," as, in the mind of a child, how can a "good" person do "bad" things? The final thing, I think, that makes this effective as being an introductory song to the tone of Evillious, is the phrases that signal the shifts in mood: "Only to know that simple answer, I'll determinedly continue my wordplay." "To learn an answer I don't want to know, for some time yet, let's continue my wordplay." The first line coincides with a sort of optimism and happiness, it's like the feeling of "There are so many words for 'Happy,' I know I'll find one that's right." Where as the second line leans much heavier into that corruption aesthetic, "I hate you so much, and though it hurts me to do, I'm going to find the meanest, nastiest, most evil word I can think of to show how I feel." A lot of Evillious (from my own personal experience) seems to be about people having trouble expressing themselves in a satisfactory way for them. For some it's due to their own faults, while for others it is because others have seemingly removed their ability to do so. So they march on, exploring the heights of their optimism, and the depths of their sadness, until eventually, they do indeed find satisfaction; but this satisfaction is a Fairy's Gift: it comes with a price, and everyone ends up having to pay it. All the singer can do, from their child-like perspective, is grow up, and learn more words, be they good or bad: "I'll be here no matter what, teach me words, as always." I know I'm probably off the mark, but this song's title is also its motif. All the good words that are stated, are homophones of the bad words. Also I have no idea when Mothy wrote this song in relation to other songs and books in the Evillious series, and while I give the man my everlasting respect as I don't think anybody could've foreseen how big this series would get, it wouldn't surprise me if it turned out that this song either never really had a purpose or he simply forgot what its purpose was.
Wow you put a lot of thought into this! I was just listening to the song rather than thinking about the meaning. But I think you got the meaning spot on!
I had grown up with only the videos related to story of evil…. Here I am, 8 years later, just now discovering there’s way more to it????? Omg. This is going to be a struggle to grasp.
hey hey ! I actually have a guide specifically for navigating the series as a new fan here ! as well as other resources cardentist.tumblr.com/post/657656118028451841
Imo, Rin in this song is an AI, learning her "words", building her own personality. It fits so perfectly, how an AI works. mothy did think up THAT far??
+Janade D. that's my interpretation as well ! though tbh I doubt it XD mothy has yet to comment on what this song's place in the narrative is so it's possible that he hasn't even thought of that yet :b
Fun fact: In my early days in the Evillious fandom, I used to think the singer here was the Sloth era's Gretel to Lemy's Hansel and that she had some connection to Pere Noel like him. I can't quite remember why, though, but I later figured out that I was mistaken anyway. I couldn't help but notice that mothy _still_ doesn't seem to have confirmed who this character is supposed to be, though most people are still guessing it's Levia (which, considering her backstory and the subject matter of this song, actually _does_ seem pretty plausible the more I think of it...).
+CJCroen1393 personally I have a theory that it could represent the second period as a whole rather than one specific character If you aren't familiar with the reveal about the second period in the heavenly novel then let me explain a bit the second period is a simulation that the scientists of the first period created, behemo was one of those scientists. the people of the second period became self aware and rapidly advanced their technology, so much so that they created technology that was far superior to what the first period had. the other scientists invented malice to destroy them, but the world that seth was able to travel to was the _real_ world after behemo met with levia he made a version of himself in the simulation based on levia's avatar (who herself was just a female version of him physically :b) and that avatar of behemo is the one we've grown attached too behemo and the other scientists then had the people of the second period create the new world from the ashes of the first period using their advanced technology, their technology was so advanced even that the new society that they created had magic so then, I propose that wordplay is about the simple simulation becoming more complex, as it grows smarter the people there become capable of more complex emotions like friendship, dreams, and love. but as the people there gain things like free will they gain the ability to knowingly commit evil, and ultimately malice !
I am vaguely aware of the (very confusing; seriously what's with mothy's obsession with making things so complicated @_@) history of the periods, yes. That is a pretty solid theory too, it explains _a lot_ about the progression of the song.
+CJCroen1393 yeah XD to be honest I think the most confusing part about all this is trying to figure out how much, if any, of the old, intentionally(?) wrong versions of the period's creations are real like yeah, it was confirmed that the second period scientists never left the ship during the creation of the third period, but is it still true that the forest spirits are god kin that died during the creation process? and if so, _how_ were they reborn as forest spirits when everyone else, baring seth, were still stuck I get that it didn't want to go into *that* much detail in an already information dense chapter but I wanna know !!
Yeech, I can feel my head spinning just trying to comprehend half the stuff in this crazy series @_@ (That feeling when a series makes Homestuck look simple by comparison...)
+CJCroen1393 I mean to be fair, homestuck is all in english and the entire series is available in order for free so it's a lot easier to digest it in the way that the author intended :b
Hello everyone I would like you to know that I am getting the rest of my friends in on this fandom by creating A 150 SLIDE POWERPOINT OF THE ENTIRE SERIES I CRAVE DEATH
@@yorgo2255 haha this is a really old comment! The total slides in the presentation is 277!! Haha and most of those slides contain a long sizeable paragraph each. Hahaha
im listening to all the songs in order despite knowing some things about this series. i think wordplay's place in the series is around the beginning (like the playlist is) to symbolize where HER started. as it went from memorizing words like "mother" and "father" to "lie" and "sin", symbolizing revenge coming to bite said person in the ass and make levia and behemo, doing this assumingly kills them (?) why they need revenge? i dont fucking know, but the outro lyrics also let me come up with this "i will be here no matter what. teach me words, as always" potentially symbolizing that they will live on inside of levia and behemo or whichever one got mindfucked, and the teach me words part getting symbolized as evolution, which (from my biology knowledge or some shit idk i failed) words get often smaller over time. as this happens, they're encouraging the twins to carry on their legacy and continue living in their name.
@@dreamlandbuds7710 I'm late again and tbh I didn't know what I meant either, but I think I meant that I only see the similarities between Wordplay and MoTHellishYard, and not Miniature Garden Girl
that was the theory several years ago, but as of right now it's not really viable :b the reference was certainly made a decade ago but mothy hasn't commented on the specific nature of the songs or who they're attached to since, and it's even more apparent that he's had a change of plans after the clockwork lullaby album released, with the clockwork lullaby song getting a rework that adds several lines and wordplay being decidedly Absent I have theories about what wordplay could mean, but it seems to me like mothy only has plans to expand on clockwork lullaby :b
@@tobimisaalso in full moon laboratory rin says “those words i memorized in the beginning i gaven’t forgotten them now” or “i’ll always be here no matter what” it gives me the chills! I wish to know more about the myisterious rin. I like to thinkthat this is the rin in 10 min love but i dont know how to connect it haha also imo full moon laboratory is connected to maria moonlit
I'd like to wait for Punishment to get (hopefully) more concrete answers about Maria and Irina's relationship; But, I'd like to present the theory of Wordplay being about the Queen of the Glass. The entire "learning words" concept could be refering to Maria making prophecies, possibly. Maria was an orphan, so when she was talking to LeviaBehemo, that'd be the first time she had a mother and father. The love part is about Adam and Eve. Maybe the entire lie/wound/sin portion is about her being a failure prophet, and the Senate/Miroku bending the truth. Retribution about _the_ prophecy. The abandonment part could be about that prophecy too, seeing how LeviaBehemo just said "give us bodies or the country gets destroyed" and that, to me, counts as abandonment. Maria continued to give prophecies despite knowing she's both a. a puppet and b. a failure. "I will be here no matter what/Teach me words/As always" is probably my favorite part of the theory, as Maria _will_ be there forever, with the Court Ending. FML (which is almost definitly about Maria/Irina) has some callbacks to Wordplay, especially in the PV. TSIHS says the lullaby changes over eras? Well the lullaby here is the same as FML, which if both are about Maria, then it would be in the same era. A lot of this theory is boneless, and I like the idea of it being about the second period better, but I still wanted to get this off my chest. :|
Maybe this is supposed to be Levia when she was created by Behemo? That's why she's also just learning the evil words because malice wasn't originally from her world. It would also explain the similarities in tune with Master of the Hellish Yard, as Nemesis is Levia, and she's finally doing all the evil things she learned in order to purify the world

I cant wait to learn more about this series!Im so confused rn, i read a lot of comments, found a lot of links but sadly im busy with school work and i dont have any time to look more into it. Aaa winter break here i comeee
when you do get the time I absolutely suggest taking a look at the google doc I have linked in the description and pinned comment ! it has links to read the novels in english for free among many other resources ! it's being consistently updated as the translator doing the translations creates more and as we get new content from mothy ! I'd also suggest checking out the playlist linked, as it's the most up to date and accurate in my opinion ! I have more videos that I need to make so I can update it, but that's because I'm also busy fjklasd I'll hopefully have more time further into next month !
it's also worth noting that a lot of comments are just outright wrong. poor translations, word of mouth, and years of just a total Lack of translations has given a _lot_ of people a case of misinformation, which only gets worse as people play telephone. don't get me wrong, searching through the story that way is really fun (it's what got me hooked on the series!) but now that we Have more reliable sources I try to give them to fans as soon as possible ^^
Am I the only one that think that this is not necessarily Levia but any Second Period character? They're AIs after all, so any character could be singing this as they learn of the world. In fact, the more I think about it, Seth does kinda fit the role seeing as we see this character appear in FML too and Levia singing FML doesn't fit because FML and TSIHS are basically the same/very similar at times, right? Edit: Also, the melody is the same here and in FML: La La La La La La La Lu Lu Lu Lu, as opposed to the Third Period's LuLiLa
god thank you, I've been saying that for so long jklfsda I've never seen the connection with levia, and it's only gotten Less likely as time goes on. levia just happened to be a scientist voiced by rin, but it just Doesn't fit her character (her motivations, her experiences, or even what she Did. she was a psychologist that designed people's minds, Behemo's the one that would've been messing around with bodies and it certainly doesn't fit him either) I really love the seth interpretation a lot ! especially with the implications that his mother wasn't the Best (and the fact that he killed her). there's a cover that explores exactly that here ! ruclips.net/video/fJE6yUFzb8c/видео.html and on that note, that same person has a pv for fml that I absolutely Adore (I actually contributed illustrations for it !) that I think would be up your alley ruclips.net/video/y_aFGb3T1yk/видео.html
the song is Definitely open to interpretation, but I don't think it Can go anywhere but the beginning. it's called clockwork lullaby 0 for a reason, after all thematically it Must come before the original clockwork lullaby, whether it directly connects to it through a shared main character or not. both in terms of how Story laid out in this song is referenced back to in the story laid out in clockwork lullaby, And in terms of how the Literal clockwork lullaby is built upon the version that's in this song (La La La Lu Lu Lu turning into Lu Li La) if the era changes then the song changes too, the clockwork lullaby being built on the lullaby in this song is both Literally what happened in the real world, And the thematic implication with the naming conventions of both songs And the clockwork lullaby having a little more complexity than the lullaby in this song. this is, in my opinion, The beginning. which is why I have it at the top in my playlist. for a long time, my Personal interpretation has been that this song is representative of the second period as a whole, particularly it's creation and it's growth. the way that the program would've started simple and grown in complexity, but at the same time the more complex it becomes, the more Sentient it becomes, the more the more the capacity for evil develops. (in the sense of the people in it becoming that way, rather than the program itself being one sentient entity, of course). That Said, between the clockwork lullaby album booklet, the clockwork lullaby key of word edition, "the song I heard somewhere"'s connection to full moon laboratory, and of course the court ending I Do think it's very possible that the character in the clockwork lullaby will be revealed to be irina. and if that happens I find it likely that both full moon laboratory and wordplay will be recontextualized into irina's story. and of course, if that Does happen, then I do still believe that wordplay will be the first chronologically, it will also just be a part of a timeloop situation so in another way it will also come after the end of her story.
Ok heres my theory. In the beginning of time a certain being came into existence (the clockwork lullaby). She is a representation of time and everything. This song (as well as key of word) is about her. This one is specifically recalling the second period. She can technically be called irregular and as such her existence is depended on everything around her. She bases her personality on the world at the time. She is talking about the second period and how it later got abandoned. She isn't definitively a character but rather a representation of things.
i don't know if i should think that this is Gretel or Rin(the one on the fourth period) wai- i just noticed how the blue sky appeared when there are good words then dark sky when there are dark words. Clever thinking, i like it!
+WSJaP you shouldn't think that it's either XD it's just rin's original design because it was mothy's second song, which he made at a time when he only owned the kagamine voice banks :b so deciding which character it is based on visuals and voice alone really isn't a good idea
I remember once I thought she was Lemy's Gretel, but that turned out to be wrong...kinda (it seems unlikely that this song is anywhere near the Sloth era). I've heard a lot of people suggesting that it's Levia.
tobimisa Oh, btw, could you explain to me the clockworker family? I know that Kiril and Irina are Ghoul Children but I remember hearing something about the Clockworker family being skilled in Clockwork Secret Art and other things. I thought that by family the two had parents but now I'm thinking maybe it just refers to the two of them? How did they grow up though? Did someone adopt them?
I haven't really read any Wikia or know too much of stuff, but I see that this song could be like when the 1st period was creating the second period since they were (in a nutshell) creating an anther world with self-thinking and self living AI's in there. And this song seems like it would fit that kind of situation. But I'm going to go to Wikia and check how right my assumptions were. Just wanted to put this in here So I can come back after years and see how wrong (or maybe right) I was.
you have a better grasp of this song than people I've seen in the wikia for nearly a decade. that's more or less my exact interpretation jkladsf though to be fair, there isn't a specific canon explanation as of yet, there are just ideas that are. Less Likely to become canon down the road
though that said ! I'd also check out the pinned comment of this video ! I have a google doc with links to full translations of the novels and short stories along with many other resources ! the wikia is wonderful for what it is, but you're gonna get a much more complete idea of the series from the official text (for instance, it's not the wikia's job to preserve the emotional tone of a scene, which can change your entire interpretation of what happened) I also have my playlist linked ! which has updated translations, fan pvs, etc and is in as closed to chronological order as I've been able to wrestle it into over the past 8 years !
you can't buy the books, but you Can read fan translations for free :> I've god my playlist for the songs here ! ruclips.net/p/PL864E18DE40C5A739 my google doc with links to all of the books here: docs.google.com/document/d/12JxPa5F9FWsC3YM4YONskWQS-KsRS3Q8dLVIWoWOr9k/edit?usp=sharing and a guide for how to merge the two ! cardentist.tumblr.com/post/657656118028451841 the songs were released all out of order, while the novels were released Mostly (though not entirely) in order. so the novels are meant to be read in release order, but the songs would be very confusing if you tried to do that ! hence why I took the time to make a guide ! personally I think you can watch the songs from start to finish and Then go back to the novels, as long as you don't mind being confused, though if you Do intend on reading the novels then I might recommend doing so before watching "master of the heavenly yard" as it's the finale of the series and more or less a one to one retelling of the novel of the same name ! you'll get more out of it if you're familiar with the events of the novels and the characters in it, though people who've only seen the songs can absolutely still enjoy it !
I have a whole guide for watching the series for the first time here ! cardentist.tumblr.com/post/657656118028451841 though honestly, it'd be perfectly alright watching all of the songs first and then reading the novels ! you'd just be missing context the first time around with the songs, but you can always go back and watch them again after reading :3 it's how most people do it ! the guide already links to these, but ! my full chronological playlist: ruclips.net/p/PL864E18DE40C5A739 and where you can read all of the books !: docs.google.com/document/d/12JxPa5F9FWsC3YM4YONskWQS-KsRS3Q8dLVIWoWOr9k/edit?usp=sharing
Do you happen to still have the files for this PV? I'm planning on covering this song in English, and would like to sub this version accordingly if that's alright.
The reproduction list have all the *ORIGINAL* Evillious Chronicles? I'm sorry if I got a mistake while I was writing the comment, I don't talk the English very well ;--;
For goodness sake, based on the playlist I used, this series has 64 songs to explain everything that happen in this series! They even have novel!! OAO In short, just knowing Seven Deadly Sins is not enough if you want to know the whoooole story. Im already forgetting stuff, so please don't ask me. X,D
okay so ! the seven deadly sin series is a large chunk of a bigger, on going series called the Evillious Chronicles this series is both a song series and novel series with the novels and songs often times being released at wildly different times ! one isn't supposed to be a substitute for the other, they're both essential to each other moreover ! the songs and to an extent the novels are released out of order, meaning that the order that they should be viewed in is different from the chronological order that said ! the series is easiest to get into when you break it up and take it in bit by bit. rather than trying to understand all of the seven deadly sin series try starting with the daughter of evil novels and then watching the daughter of evil songs and so on ! oh and on that note, the daughter of evil series has four novels, but the rest of them only have one, so they'll be easier to get into and digest !! the only thing that could be difficult to digest as of right now is the original sin series because it's novel is coming out at the end of this year and the songs take up a pretty substantial chunk of the series, however we have information about that period of time in other novels and short stories so we certainly have more than nothing to work with here. my suggestion would be to watch through those songs after you get through the daughter of evil series and then to go back to them after you get through the end of the series chronologically ! the original sin novel may even be out by then ^^ I have a playlist that lists all of the songs in chronologial order here, though an album just recently dropped so some of the songs need to be filled in with pvs but all of them have translations ruclips.net/p/PLk-dZ1SODcfcTm0ThJQ8zBVJ2jiNfbgb3 and I have a google doc that lists summaries and translations of all of the novels, manga, and short stories in chronological order, explains some songs that trip up new users, gives advice on how to take in the series, lists which songs go to which novels, and goes into mothy's other works that have references to evillious but which aren't necessary to understanding the series ! docs.google.com/document/d/12JxPa5F9FWsC3YM4YONskWQS-KsRS3Q8dLVIWoWOr9k/edit?usp=sharing it's a lot to take in, so take it one step at a time and go at your own pace !!
@@L16htW4rr10r that actually isn't true ! the story is currently on going ^^ there have been two albums since heavenly's release, one short story, and a new novel is going to drop at the end of this year !
Wait one second?? Is the daughter of evil a part of the evilious series?? Like what is going on?? Ive love a lot of monthy songs and i'd love speculating the story behind them but are they all connected?? Every song??? Because ive always thought there were individual works- im actually really excited- what a time to be alive!!^^
they are all connected yes ! it's an on-going series with both songs _and_ novels/short stories ! in fact the daughter of evil portion has four novels which you can read right now ! rin/riliane and len/allen show up in later parts of the series as well ^^ In fact I'd wager that you're missing songs from the daughter of evil series as well my google doc in the pinned comment has links to all of the translations and summaries we have (though we will be getting more as time goes on so look out for that !) and my playlist has all of the songs in chronological order ! the doc also has a list that goes over which songs go to which novels ! you're right though ! the evillious chronicles is multiple smaller series that are connected to each other ! it can be hard to get into if you try to take in everything at once, which is why I suggest splitting them up ! generally speaking the mid point (and most of the series) feature demons representative of the seven deadly sins making contracts with people throughout history and the tragedies this causes, with a backdrop of a witch of time trying to collect them to prevent them from causing harm and the red cat mage collecting them with the express purpose of Causing harm. the original sin series is what takes place before, a complicated tale of gods and witches and science forming the perfect storm to create the original sin. and the last part, the hellish and heavenly arcs, are the series of events that lead to the end of the world and a desperate bid to undo it, with different parties taking massively different approaches personally, I'd suggest going into the daughter of evil series/pride arc, with all of it's songs, novels, etc, and then going back to the start of the seven deadly sin series with the lust arc/lunacy of duke venomania arc. I'd say go back to the original sin series once you get to where the daughter of evil series is chronologically, because that's the point where you really need the information. (though ! the original sin novel is coming out later this month, which means we'll get a summary of it sometime next year, so that may change how I feel about this order, it may not jkflsd) after that I say just get into the rest of the series in order ! picking up after the daughter of evil series lets off that said ! that's just my suggestion, the only place you really _shouldn't_ start is near the very end with the greed, wrath, and heavenly arcs since they draw so much from the rest of the series (heavenly especially is the very end of the timeline and features characters from previous arcs that just won't make sense out of context fjksdl).
@@tobimisa this is amazing!! Thank you so much Tobimisa!! I am so excited i can't wait to start going deep into this series!!^^!! And i am so grateful that you and im guessing other people (i would imagine id be hard doing this all by yourself but if you are then woahhh that's amazing!!) who are diligently working to translate and organize the series as it progresses^^!!
thank you !! I don't actually make the translations, that would be pricechecktranslations over on tumblr ! pricechecktranslations.tumblr.com/evillioustranslations she really _does_ translate the series all on her own, including novels and and songs ! I just put the translations to video and try to make it easier for fans to get into and understand the series ^^ please do show pricecheck your love if you can !
technically speaking we don't know for sure, but most likely no. the rin we see at the end of the series is a reincarnation of riliane and the song for her following master of the heavenly yard is 10 minute love, which is confirmed to be the case both by the melody that plays at the end of the heavenly song and by the last chapter of the heavenly novel. this song wouldn't fit it in tone or plot in any way, and it would undercut the entirety of the emotional core of the ending. this song is the second song mothy ever made, it's over a decade old and mothy hasn't done anything to acknowledge it's existence in years. judging by the quality of the original image and the fact that no artist is credited it's very likely that mothy drew it himself. the image is just a generic rin because he had no design for the character, and the song is sung by rin because he only owned rin and len at the time. I have a theory about this song and where it goes, which is why it's at the beginning of my chronological playlist, but there isn't anything official that explains this song yet. so I opted to make an updated version of the original pv to avoid confusion, if it ever got explained and my interpretation was wrong then it'd be misinformation. that said, I obviously would've done something different if I had known rin was coming jfksdla
Can someone please explain to me what this whole series is about? I just don’t understand it (not saying that I hate it I like it I just can’t comprehend it)
I ! would very much so suggest looking through google doc and playlist I have in the pinned comment ! this is a multi-media series that has been going on for more than a decade with 13 novels and counting ! I could give a general summary of what you can expect out of the series but any meaningful explanation would be unreasonably long and difficult to process . that said, the google doc has links to full translations of the novels For Free among many other resources as well as advice about where to start and how to best navigate the series ! . but ! generally speaking the mid point (and most of the series) feature demons representative of the seven deadly sins making contracts with people throughout history and the tragedies this causes, with a backdrop of a witch of time trying to collect them to prevent them from causing harm and the red cat mage collecting them with the express purpose of Causing harm. . the original sin series is what takes place before, a complicated tale of gods and witches and science forming the perfect storm to create the original sin. . and the last part, the hellish and heavenly arcs, are the series of events that lead to the end of the world and a desperate bid to undo it, with different parties taking massively different approaches
Not really, the clockwork doll isn't a unique entity, its an empty vessel that has been stuffed with different souls. Eve was fully aware of her history when she was awake in the clockwork doll, and irina was changed but still aware that she was irina. Neither of them started from the ground up, and gallerian certainly never abandoned irina.
well ! it an on-going series created by mothy/akuno-p that started as a seemingly random collection of songs that, over time, have been connected and revealed to be a cohesive narrative that takes place over 1000 years ! the producer has gone on to write several novels and short stories for it (which are linked to in the pinned comment along with a playlist of mine that has the songs in as close to chronological order as you can get !) it can be hard to get into if you try to take in everything at once, but it's actually several smaller stories that tie into each other ! but generally speaking the mid point (and most of the series) feature demons representative of the seven deadly sins making contracts with people throughout history and the tragedies this causes, with a backdrop of a witch of time trying to collect them to prevent them from causing harm and the red cat mage collecting them with the express purpose of Causing harm. the original sin series is what takes place before, a complicated tale of gods and witches and science forming the perfect storm to create the original sin. and the last part, the hellish and heavenly arcs, are the series of events that lead to the end of the world and a desperate bid to undo it, with different parties taking massively different approaches
@@Minecraftsofia123 I think that wordplay is sung by Levia Barisol and is about both the creation and destruction of the second period. The song starts out sweet and happy, how the second period and Levia were created. As it progresses to be darker Levia is learning about what she studies which is stated in Barisol's Child is an Only Child to be "the heart of man" and it later explains that means war, malice, and stuff like that. The lyrics near the end of Wordplay "I'll determinedly continue my word play" explain Levia going into the world Behemo is in to study it and kill her other self (Behemo) to end HERS (Heditary Evil Raiser Syndrome) , and the words at the very end "I'll be here no matter what" is when the second period is destroyed and most people die but Levia is still alive and due to her and Behemo becoming gods they will live forever
@@Minecraftsofia123 the second period is the place that (in my theory) this song takes place, a virtual world called earth. The third period is were most of Evillious takes place
my friend, I'm sorry to say but this is a part of a long form series called the evillious chronicles, produced by someone totally different. they both came out in march 2008, only days apart, with kokoro being produced by toraboruta_p and wordplay being produced by mothy/akuno_p. speculation is fun but this song is accounted for jkflds
@@sirlundythetoonbint2247 and I just corrected you :b theories are fun, but taking a part of a series out of context to couple it with something else adds to unnecessary confusion jskld think about it like this, you wouldn't make a theory about who the main character of harry potter prisoner of azkaban is connecting him to a different movie from a different franchize, because that character already _has_ lore and worldbuilding and Plot connected to them that that theory would be ignoring. . while this song is certainly more ambiguous than harry potter is, we _know_ that it takes place within the evillious chronicles, so connecting it to kokoro would mean placing kokoro within the series and the implications for the lore that that'd create. this isn't a one-off song it's a part of a large series with full novels going in depth about the characters, world, lore, and plot. that's why I would feel the need to say something :b
Hey,This is kinda weird but have u been in this fandom for a long time? If yes,Can you please tell me the order of the songs?I am new here and i have no idea of the order and the characters. Please?🥺
@@maythawdarpyae4909 Okay here if you're new to the fandom, it doesn't make sense. The songs are just catchy, some of the ones I reccomend are Daughter and Servant of Evil and Regret Message.
In this story there's the "first period" that is like our world but more developed. In this first period some scientists created another world called second period. This song is about someone of the second period learning words and concepts (like mother, love and lies) for the first time. At the start she learns good things like mother and love but with time also bad things like lies and evil. Sorry if my english is bad

Compound this with the singer seemingly not actually being fluent or knowledgeable in the language they're singing in: "To convey what I am feeling now, what sort of words would be correct?"
Then, while the good words are ended with that statement of someone trying to figure out just how to express themselves (I'm assuming in a happy or positive way), the bad words get ended with a very grim stanza: "For example, when you abandoned me.
The final thing, I think, that makes this effective as being an introductory song to the tone of Evillious, is the phrases that signal the shifts in mood: "Only to know that simple answer, I'll determinedly continue my wordplay." "To learn an answer I don't want to know, for some time yet, let's continue my wordplay." The first line coincides with a sort of optimism and happiness, it's like the feeling of "There are so many words for 'Happy,' I know I'll find one that's right." Where as the second line leans much heavier into that corruption aesthetic, "I hate you so much, and though it hurts me to do, I'm going to find the meanest, nastiest, most evil word I can think of to show how I feel."
A lot of Evillious (from my own personal experience) seems to be about people having trouble expressing themselves in a satisfactory way for them. All the singer can do, from their child-like perspective, is grow up, and learn more words, be they good or bad: "I'll be here no matter what, teach me words, as always."
I know I'm probably off the mark, but this song's title is also its motif.

Imo, Rin in this song is an AI, learning her "words", building her own personality. It fits so perfectly, how an AI works. mothy did think up THAT far??
+Janade D.
that's my interpretation as well !
though tbh I doubt it XD
mothy has yet to comment on what this song's place in the narrative is so it's possible that he hasn't even thought of that yet :b
Really, he would be a God to think up that far, seriously.
But it still fits so well with the Second Period theme. Thumb up for this.
I think it may be something along these lines too. Maybe related to the creation of the Second Period, which was originally a computer simulation.
@@42Caio That's what I say. It shares a tune with MOTHellishY and Levia, from the computer second world is linked to nemesis via a soul so....
I think this is supposed to be the song of the second period

IM STARTING TO FIRST LISTEN TO THIS SERIES ILL BE BACK TO THANK U FOR INTRODUCING ME!!! (Watching ur playlist right now!!)
I hope you have fun !!!
+CJCroen1393
personally I have a theory that it could represent the second period as a whole rather than one specific character
If you aren't familiar with the reveal about the second period in the heavenly novel then let me explain a bit
the second period is a simulation that the scientists of the first period created, behemo was one of those scientists. the people of the second period became self aware and rapidly advanced their technology, so much so that they created technology that was far superior to what the first period had. the other scientists invented malice to destroy them, but the world that seth was able to travel to was the _real_ world
after behemo met with levia he made a version of himself in the simulation based on levia's avatar (who herself was just a female version of him physically :b) and that avatar of behemo is the one we've grown attached too
behemo and the other scientists then had the people of the second period create the new world from the ashes of the first period using their advanced technology, their technology was so advanced even that the new society that they created had magic
so then, I propose that wordplay is about the simple simulation becoming more complex, as it grows smarter the people there become capable of more complex emotions like friendship, dreams, and love. but as the people there gain things like free will they gain the ability to knowingly commit evil, and ultimately malice !
I am vaguely aware of the (very confusing; seriously what's with mothy's obsession with making things so complicated @_@) history of the periods, yes. That is a pretty solid theory too, it explains _a lot_ about the progression of the song.
+CJCroen1393
yeah XD
to be honest I think the most confusing part about all this is trying to figure out how much, if any, of the old, intentionally(?) wrong versions of the period's creations are real
like yeah, it was confirmed that the second period scientists never left the ship during the creation of the third period, but is it still true that the forest spirits are god kin that died during the creation process?
and if so, _how_ were they reborn as forest spirits when everyone else, baring seth, were still stuck
I get that it didn't want to go into *that* much detail in an already information dense chapter but I wanna know !!
Yeech, I can feel my head spinning just trying to comprehend half the stuff in this crazy series @_@
(That feeling when a series makes Homestuck look simple by comparison...)
+CJCroen1393
I mean to be fair, homestuck is all in english and the entire series is available in order for free
so it's a lot easier to digest it in the way that the author intended :b

Uhhh is there a possibility you could share it? I'd like to have as many sources as I can.
im listening to all the songs in order despite knowing some things about this series.
i think wordplay's place in the series is around the beginning (like the playlist is) to symbolize where HER started. as it went from memorizing words like "mother" and "father" to "lie" and "sin", symbolizing revenge coming to bite said person in the ass and make levia and behemo, doing this assumingly kills them (?) why they need revenge? i dont fucking know, but the outro lyrics also let me come up with this "i will be here no matter what. teach me words, as always" potentially symbolizing that they will live on inside of levia and behemo or whichever one got mindfucked, and the teach me words part getting symbolized as evolution, which (from my biology knowledge or some shit idk i failed) words get often smaller over time. as this happens, they're encouraging the twins to carry on their legacy and continue living in their name.
3:39 this part reminds me of Ayanami Rei's text from 3.0+1.0: Thrice upon a time. "Good night. Good day. Thank you. Goodbye."
I wonder why Master of the Hellish Yard and Miniature Garden Girl have such similar melodies to this song

Oliver Aelius a little bit late reply but don't you mean Master of The Hellish Yard and *Wordplay* are similar?

@@dreamlandbuds7710 I'm late again and tbh I didn't know what I meant either, but I think I meant that I only see the similarities between Wordplay and MoTHellishYard, and not Miniature Garden Girl
Could it be possible that whoever sings this is the same singer in Clockwork Lullaby?
“Teach me words as always.”
-Clockwork Lullaby singer.
that was the theory several years ago, but as of right now it's not really viable :b
the reference was certainly made a decade ago but mothy hasn't commented on the specific nature of the songs or who they're attached to since, and it's even more apparent that he's had a change of plans after the clockwork lullaby album released, with the clockwork lullaby song getting a rework that adds several lines and wordplay being decidedly Absent
I have theories about what wordplay could mean, but it seems to me like mothy only has plans to expand on clockwork lullaby :b
@@tobimisaalso in full moon laboratory rin says “those words i memorized in the beginning i gaven’t forgotten them now” or “i’ll always be here no matter what” it gives me the chills!

Edit: Also, the melody is the same here and in FML: La La La La La La La Lu Lu Lu Lu, as opposed to the Third Period's LuLiLa
god thank you, I've been saying that for so long jklfsda
I've never seen the connection with levia, and it's only gotten Less likely as time goes on. levia just happened to be a scientist voiced by rin, but it just Doesn't fit her character (her motivations, her experiences, or even what she Did. she was a psychologist that designed people's minds, Behemo's the one that would've been messing around with bodies and it certainly doesn't fit him either)
I really love the seth interpretation a lot ! especially with the implications that his mother wasn't the Best (and the fact that he killed her). there's a cover that explores exactly that here ! ruclips.net/video/fJE6yUFzb8c/видео.html

I'm revisiting EC and oh my gosh it feel so nostalgic even if i just learned EC 2 years ago😭😭
oh I absolutely get you
This song is so hard to place in the Evillious Chronicles timeline, but there are a few places it MAY fit. It's very much open to interpretation.
the song is Definitely open to interpretation, but I don't think it Can go anywhere but the beginning. it's called clockwork lullaby 0 for a reason, after all
thematically it Must come before the original clockwork lullaby, whether it directly connects to it through a shared main character or not. both in terms of how Story laid out in this song is referenced back to in the story laid out in clockwork lullaby, And in terms of how the Literal clockwork lullaby is built upon the version that's in this song (La La La Lu Lu Lu turning into Lu Li La)
if the era changes then the song changes too, the clockwork lullaby being built on the lullaby in this song is both Literally what happened in the real world, And the thematic implication with the naming conventions of both songs And the clockwork lullaby having a little more complexity than the lullaby in this song.
this is, in my opinion, The beginning. which is why I have it at the top in my playlist.
for a long time, my Personal interpretation has been that this song is representative of the second period as a whole, particularly it's creation and it's growth. the way that the program would've started simple and grown in complexity, but at the same time the more complex it becomes, the more Sentient it becomes, the more the more the capacity for evil develops.
Here to start watching all of evillious chronicals... wish me luck
Ohhh i love this!!! Looks so good!
I LOVE THIS NOT EVEN GONNA LIE

i just noticed how the blue sky appeared when there are good words then dark sky when there are dark words. Clever thinking, i like it!
+WSJaP
you shouldn't think that it's either XD
it's just rin's original design because it was mothy's second song, which he made at a time when he only owned the kagamine voice banks :b
so deciding which character it is based on visuals and voice alone really isn't a good idea
I'm kinda thinking this was Irina too when she was growing up though
+WSJaP
irina didn't have a mother and father :b
THANK U FOR THIS ILY
I haven't really read any Wikia or know too much of stuff, but I see that this song could be like when the 1st period was creating the second period since they were (in a nutshell) creating an anther world with self-thinking and self living AI's in there. And this song seems like it would fit that kind of situation.
But I'm going to go to Wikia and check how right my assumptions were. Just wanted to put this in here So I can come back after years and see how wrong (or maybe right) I was.
you have a better grasp of this song than people I've seen in the wikia for nearly a decade. that's more or less my exact interpretation jkladsf
though to be fair, there isn't a specific canon explanation as of yet, there are just ideas that are. Less Likely to become canon down the road
though that said ! I'd also check out the pinned comment of this video ! I have a google doc with links to full translations of the novels and short stories along with many other resources ! the wikia is wonderful for what it is, but you're gonna get a much more complete idea of the series from the official text (for instance, it's not the wikia's job to preserve the emotional tone of a scene, which can change your entire interpretation of what happened)

personally I think you can watch the songs from start to finish and Then go back to the novels, as long as you don't mind being confused, though if you Do intend on reading the novels then I might recommend doing so before watching "master of the heavenly yard" as it's the finale of the series and more or less a one to one retelling of the novel of the same name ! you'll get more out of it if you're familiar with the events of the novels and the characters in it, though people who've only seen the songs can absolutely still enjoy it !
hi i like this song and evillious chronicles and im kinda lost on where to start, do i listen to the songs first? Or read the mangas and novels orr?
I have a whole guide for watching the series for the first time here !
cardentist.tumblr.com/post/657656118028451841
though honestly, it'd be perfectly alright watching all of the songs first and then reading the novels ! you'd just be missing context the first time around with the songs, but you can always go back and watch them again after reading :3
it's how most people do it !
the guide already links to these, but !

So this is the first in the series huh

Do you happen to still have the files for this PV? I'm planning on covering this song in English, and would like to sub this version accordingly if that's alright.
is this the beginning of the evilious series or is this the end,im lost lol😭
it's the beginning ! that's why it's at the start of my playlist :3
@@tobimisa oh ok thanks
heckin good
thanks ^^
this is my first experience
The reproduction list have all the *ORIGINAL* Evillious Chronicles?
I'm sorry if I got a mistake while I was writing the comment, I don't talk the English very well ;--;
it's okay ! though I'm not really sure what I'm being asked !
So im freaking confused since i just watched the 7 sins... Then some in the comment started saying some stories and stuff about it... So i am confused
Lets just say this seties has ended sometime ago.
And lets just say this series is convoluted as hell. X,D
For goodness sake, based on the playlist I used, this series has 64 songs to explain everything that happen in this series! They even have novel!! OAO
In short, just knowing Seven Deadly Sins is not enough if you want to know the whoooole story. Im already forgetting stuff, so please don't ask me. X,D
okay so !
the seven deadly sin series is a large chunk of a bigger, on going series called the Evillious Chronicles
this series is both a song series and novel series with the novels and songs often times being released at wildly different times ! one isn't supposed to be a substitute for the other, they're both essential to each other
moreover ! the songs and to an extent the novels are released out of order, meaning that the order that they should be viewed in is different from the chronological order
that said ! the series is easiest to get into when you break it up and take it in bit by bit. rather than trying to understand all of the seven deadly sin series try starting with the daughter of evil novels and then watching the daughter of evil songs and so on !
oh and on that note, the daughter of evil series has four novels, but the rest of them only have one, so they'll be easier to get into and digest !!
the only thing that could be difficult to digest as of right now is the original sin series because it's novel is coming out at the end of this year and the songs take up a pretty substantial chunk of the series, however we have information about that period of time in other novels and short stories so we certainly have more than nothing to work with here. my suggestion would be to watch through those songs after you get through the daughter of evil series and then to go back to them after you get through the end of the series chronologically ! the original sin novel may even be out by then ^^
I have a playlist that lists all of the songs in chronologial order here, though an album just recently dropped so some of the songs need to be filled in with pvs but all of them have translations ruclips.net/p/PLk-dZ1SODcfcTm0ThJQ8zBVJ2jiNfbgb3
and I have a google doc that lists summaries and translations of all of the novels, manga, and short stories in chronological order, explains some songs that trip up new users, gives advice on how to take in the series, lists which songs go to which novels, and goes into mothy's other works that have references to evillious but which aren't necessary to understanding the series ! docs.google.com/document/d/12JxPa5F9FWsC3YM4YONskWQS-KsRS3Q8dLVIWoWOr9k/edit?usp=sharing
it's a lot to take in, so take it one step at a time and go at your own pace !!
@@L16htW4rr10r
that actually isn't true ! the story is currently on going ^^
there have been two albums since heavenly's release, one short story, and a new novel is going to drop at the end of this year !
@@tobimisa Wow. Thank you for the explanation. But I thought Master of Heavenly Yard (mothy) is the last song?
i think this song is abt the second period and how it became so advanced
that's always been my interpretation as well :>
especially with the introduction of malice to the code!
Wait one second?? Is the daughter of evil a part of the evilious series?? Like what is going on?? Ive love a lot of monthy songs and i'd love speculating the story behind them but are they all connected?? Every song??? Because ive always thought there were individual works- im actually really excited- what a time to be alive!!^^
they are all connected yes !
it's an on-going series with both songs _and_ novels/short stories ! in fact the daughter of evil portion has four novels which you can read right now ! rin/riliane and len/allen show up in later parts of the series as well ^^
In fact I'd wager that you're missing songs from the daughter of evil series as well
my google doc in the pinned comment has links to all of the translations and summaries we have (though we will be getting more as time goes on so look out for that !) and my playlist has all of the songs in chronological order ! the doc also has a list that goes over which songs go to which novels !
you're right though ! the evillious chronicles is multiple smaller series that are connected to each other ! it can be hard to get into if you try to take in everything at once, which is why I suggest splitting them up !
generally speaking
the mid point (and most of the series) feature demons representative of the seven deadly sins making contracts with people throughout history and the tragedies this causes, with a backdrop of a witch of time trying to collect them to prevent them from causing harm and the red cat mage collecting them with the express purpose of Causing harm.
the original sin series is what takes place before, a complicated tale of gods and witches and science forming the perfect storm to create the original sin.
and the last part, the hellish and heavenly arcs, are the series of events that lead to the end of the world and a desperate bid to undo it, with different parties taking massively different approaches
personally, I'd suggest going into the daughter of evil series/pride arc, with all of it's songs, novels, etc, and then going back to the start of the seven deadly sin series with the lust arc/lunacy of duke venomania arc.
I'd say go back to the original sin series once you get to where the daughter of evil series is chronologically, because that's the point where you really need the information. (though ! the original sin novel is coming out later this month, which means we'll get a summary of it sometime next year, so that may change how I feel about this order, it may not jkflsd)
after that I say just get into the rest of the series in order ! picking up after the daughter of evil series lets off
that said ! that's just my suggestion, the only place you really _shouldn't_ start is near the very end with the greed, wrath, and heavenly arcs since they draw so much from the rest of the series (heavenly especially is the very end of the timeline and features characters from previous arcs that just won't make sense out of context fjksdl).
Is this song sung by the Rin at the end of Master of the Heavenly Yard? The Rin who lives in the Fourth Period?
technically speaking we don't know for sure, but most likely no.
the rin we see at the end of the series is a reincarnation of riliane and the song for her following master of the heavenly yard is 10 minute love, which is confirmed to be the case both by the melody that plays at the end of the heavenly song and by the last chapter of the heavenly novel. this song wouldn't fit it in tone or plot in any way, and it would undercut the entirety of the emotional core of the ending.
this song is the second song mothy ever made, it's over a decade old and mothy hasn't done anything to acknowledge it's existence in years. judging by the quality of the original image and the fact that no artist is credited it's very likely that mothy drew it himself. the image is just a generic rin because he had no design for the character, and the song is sung by rin because he only owned rin and len at the time.
I could give a general summary of what you can expect out of the series but any meaningful explanation would be unreasonably long and difficult to process

that said, the google doc has links to full translations of the novels For Free among many other resources as well as advice about where to start and how to best navigate the series !

@@tobimisa ohhh thanks that makes sense
Could it be that this is through the clockwork dolls point of view?
Not really, the clockwork doll isn't a unique entity, its an empty vessel that has been stuffed with different souls.
Eve was fully aware of her history when she was awake in the clockwork doll, and irina was changed but still aware that she was irina. Neither of them started from the ground up, and gallerian certainly never abandoned irina.
@@tobimisa oh ok
What in gods name is the Evillious Chronicals?? Ive only just heard of it, please enlighten me
well ! it an on-going series created by mothy/akuno-p that started as a seemingly random collection of songs that, over time, have been connected and revealed to be a cohesive narrative that takes place over 1000 years !
the producer has gone on to write several novels and short stories for it (which are linked to in the pinned comment along with a playlist of mine that has the songs in as close to chronological order as you can get !)
it can be hard to get into if you try to take in everything at once, but it's actually several smaller stories that tie into each other !

After a long time of being confused on this song I finally made a theory, tell me if you would like me to tell you what it is
TELL ME PLS
@@Usernamee619 Interesting theory (despite not understanding a word that you said)
Also, what’s the ‘second’ and ‘third’ period?
@@Minecraftsofia123 the second period is the place that (in my theory) this song takes place, a virtual world called earth. The third period is were most of Evillious takes place

in what way?
tobimisa Cuz of the tone of it. I listened to it on soundcloud without knowing the lyrics
i think this song is what happens during kokoro before her master decided to build her a heart
my friend, I'm sorry to say but this is a part of a long form series called the evillious chronicles, produced by someone totally different. they both came out in march 2008, only days apart, with kokoro being produced by toraboruta_p and wordplay being produced by mothy/akuno_p.
speculation is fun but this song is accounted for jkflds
@@tobimisa er that was just something that I thought of
@@sirlundythetoonbint2247
and I just corrected you :b
theories are fun, but taking a part of a series out of context to couple it with something else adds to unnecessary confusion jskld
think about it like this, you wouldn't make a theory about who the main character of harry potter prisoner of azkaban is connecting him to a different movie from a different franchize, because that character already _has_ lore and worldbuilding and Plot connected to them that that theory would be ignoring.
.
while this song is certainly more ambiguous than harry potter is, we _know_ that it takes place within the evillious chronicles, so connecting it to kokoro would mean placing kokoro within the series and the implications for the lore that that'd create. this isn't a one-off song it's a part of a large series with full novels going in depth about the characters, world, lore, and plot. that's why I would feel the need to say something :b

I didn't understand what is this song conveying???no disrespect meant and btw wth is second period stuff can anyone explain???
In this story there's the "first period" that is like our world but more developed. In this first period some scientists created another world called second period.
This song is about someone of the second period learning words and concepts (like mother, love and lies) for the first time. At the start she learns good things like mother and love but with time also bad things like lies and evil.
Sorry if my english is bad
