Let’s find some scrap metal to rebuild some steam Locomotives and reconnect the parts from the scrapped parts what were disconnect during the scrapping.
Casting these huge parts like the frame as a single piece is cool and all, yes. However I like that you take some liberties and go for modern construction methods while keeping dimensions historical. I bit this new frame will be stronger than the cast ones.
When the original was built, casting metal was far cheaper than fabricating it from sheet metal. Now of course the reverse is true, casting things has gotten significantly more expensive.
It won’t happen 126mph is the limit as the A4 was 126tons with 3 18.5 x 26 inch cylinders. The T1 is 428.5 tons with 4 19.7 x 26 inch cylinders? The weight of 428 tons would need far larger and far heavier cylinders and pistons. Problem with all steam locomotives more power more weight. Bit like Jaguar cars had a 6 cylinder engine of 4.2 litres they doubled it to a V12 but it wasn’t a 8.4 litre only a 5.3 but with double the weight not double the power!
