So if we assume you constantly have to use both your hands to control the game, and is only allowed to hold the console in your hands, and you must be able to play on it while standing up, how do you propose to use a laptop?

I used to play TF2 on my MBP. It worked fine, except that when loading maps it would hang for ridiculous amounts of time. Like 5 minutes of just watching it be frozen. Now I play DOOM on my PC with the graphics settings all on max. It's glorious.
If you are interested in something like that, you can already buy the GPD Win. It can even play games like Fallout 4, Eurotruck Simulator or Grand Theft Auto 5 with about 24 fps. It's quite a good device. (Also it has better button placement and a full keyboard)
It's a nice device but I don't think it's consumer ready, it's more of an enthusiast device at this time. You have to know how to fix quirky problems and that's probably what's turning some people off. The enthusiasts are right to love it though. I hope to get a later version once they get everything together.

Dylan They are some of the best gaming laptops there are, and suprisingly they are relatively inexpensive compared to the other OEMs and Sager/Clevo importers. Plus, where else do you get a laptop with an OLED screen and actual dedicated mouse buttons. Outside of workstations which cost 2-3 times as much.

I know I am late to the release of this video, but I love it. It is something I feel needed to be said since the beginning. When I first learned about this project, which was through the Open Pandora boards, I knew it was a scam. Especially being a Computer/Software Engineer who creates mini computers, arcades, and video games for a living, there is no way something like that can even exist right now. Oh my - I must have watched this video several dozen times for sure, but wasn't until _nau_ I read the red text in the thumbnail. Good thing is, you need to have watched the video in order to appreciate it, so I got my belated instant delivery there at last.

I know I'm late to the game, but I think the whole "not taking it out of your pocket " thing theoretically made sense. They just mentioned being able to use a wireless, display, keyboard and mouse. So maybe the idea was if you have these 3 things wireless, you don't physically need the device out on a table, IE in your pocket?

I used to play TF2 on my MBP. It worked fine, except that when loading maps it would hang for ridiculous amounts of time. Like 5 minutes of just watching it be frozen.
Now I play DOOM on my PC with the graphics settings all on max. It's glorious.

If you are interested in something like that, you can already buy the GPD Win. It can even play games like Fallout 4, Eurotruck Simulator or Grand Theft Auto 5 with about 24 fps. It's quite a good device. (Also it has better button placement and a full keyboard)
It's a nice device but I don't think it's consumer ready, it's more of an enthusiast device at this time. You have to know how to fix quirky problems and that's probably what's turning some people off. The enthusiasts are right to love it though. I hope to get a later version once they get everything together.

I've met plenty of talented engineers from Eastern Europe, so I don't have any reason to believe one of them is scamming me immediately when pitching a product unless I get evidence otherwise.

PC gaming on a portable console would suck ass. No mouse/keyboard means shit control for 99 percent of the games you'd want to play.
I'm curious to see how stuff like Steamboy/Smach do in the marketplace but I agree, it's really hard to translate PC to mobile. If the controls don't kill you the tiny text and resolution will.

Because its portable? Im pretty sure thats why laptops exist. (though im sure people would still eat something like that up i.e. Tablets) but in this specific scenario we are talking about running PC games ....in a PC format...using a console-styled 8 button system. I'll admit i love playing PC games with my ps3 remotes but more often than not there are way more functions than buttons to map them too..so I have to alternate between keyboard and joystick for things. but if im going to have to break out my keyboard and mouse...wtf didn't I just use my pc/laptop?

I have a ball mouse(finger not thumb), 3D mouse, track pad, and normal mouse all on my desk because none of them do everything well, but one thing extremely well. So I totally understand how being restricted to console controls could be limiting.
If I wanted portable gaming I would get an Alienware laptop. Those are awesome.
Dylan They are some of the best gaming laptops there are, and suprisingly they are relatively inexpensive compared to the other OEMs and Sager/Clevo importers.
Plus, where else do you get a laptop with an OLED screen and actual dedicated mouse buttons. Outside of workstations which cost 2-3 times as much.

I know I am late to the release of this video, but I love it. It is something I feel needed to be said since the beginning. When I first learned about this project, which was through the Open Pandora boards, I knew it was a scam. Especially being a Computer/Software Engineer who creates mini computers, arcades, and video games for a living, there is no way something like that can even exist right now. The project kind of bothered me by how many people these jerks are fooling and how many people actually believe them and still do.
