Thing to keep in mind in regards to the Forestry; you only need to Workers there to cut down trees. If you only have one worker, they will still produce lumber and firewood from the logs in the Forestry's storage. So you can get away with only one Forrester and seven Builders in the beginning after you have enough logs in storage, and that can speed up the building of the initial nine houses.
Very true! I like to get a good bunch of logs in, before I remove most workers and just leave 2. As shown in the video. But everybody can play it their own way! It's at least a good way to speed up the building of houses and get to 9 before winter in a heartbeat!
Very true! Love this game so much! So happy a big update came out! Real events would be great! But I'm already really happy that the game is still developed!
My fav city building game ever I also enjoyed prehistoric dawn game but it seems like the dev group gave up and the same for banished! If you never played this one try it it’s super relaxing and overall just amazing game hope the devs won’t give up on this one!
Thank you for your comment! I guess you mean Dawn of Man? Great game to! Did a playthrough of that once! And I like banished too. To bad its a bit old and not developed. Ostriv will most likely be developed for a long time! At least that is what we know now!
@@PatmosIV Yea I was talking about Dawn of Man, and yea I hope they will keep developing Ostriv for a really long time! Anno series are great as well just Ostriv is way more relaxing for me reminds me a little bit of city skyline in the relaxing way! And something about producing your goods and selling I love a lot lol
@@vladsta9530 I bet they will keep developing this! Also looking forward to the new City Skylines. Seems to head in a great direction! Still a long time till 24st of October though!
Nice to see you again Sir. How is your day going? I hope everything goes well and I hope you have a wonderful day with the family. Godspeed and Blessed you Sir. Keep it up the good work and always appreciate it. Thank you so much for your great content Sir, I really mean it. 😄😄😄 I really missed this game so much and the way you play this game makes me want to see more of this series. Always love the grid layouts, It's the most beautiful thing I have ever seen and the best layouts that I could think of. LOl😂😂😂 And it's been awhile since the last time I saw these series, Sir.
Thank you so much Reza for your nice comment! I'm happy you enjoy the video and the game! How are you doing? And your family? Here all is fine! I will keep up the good work. Next week there will be another episode with Ostriv!
Well I’ve done it before in alpha 4, so if they didn’t change the food input and output to much in alpha 5, it is possible! But challenge accepted!;-) I will build a few houses with gardens later though. Because they look nice and are a nice addition to town, but i will not use them for a foodsupply!
You don't have to use them as food supply for the markets. It will help tho so they don't complain over the fact you only sell potato's in the first year and the next.
Very true! It is an easy way to get started. I’m just making things complicated by not building them haha. But I like it this way! So far we manage to supply the town with food!
I really hope you covered the issue since the update where citizens believe they are wealthy enough to not bother looking for a job. I have been playing around with taxes but would like another person's opinion on the matter
I have not encountered that yet. The first episode covers just the first year. I got to 12 houses a farm and some other buildings. No immigrants yet. So far everybody that I assigned a job, goes to work. Just a struggle to not have enough people for all the jobs in the beginning haha. When I encounter the issue I will let you know!
No not yet. Town hall is in the building que. episodes are always just 30 minutes. I will do a trail run later this week to see the issue and try to fix it!
@@VelcroKittie I found it! If you lower wages to much, they won't do jobs anymore. Just keep raising both job and labor wages slowly until they work again. I guess they rebalanced things a bit so people actually get paid some money or wont work. Which makes it a bit more realistic and makes it a bit harder to keep a positive balance. So trade becomes more important now to make some money. Just raise job payment until the moment they start working again. I will do some new calculations soon and make a video about how to set up the economy in the new update!
Most likely next wednesday! I also did a 2 hour stream on twitch yesterday, I will upload it this evening to RUclips and make that available. If I have enough tome this weekend I might record 5 new episodes and make next week a special week, with a new Ostriv upload every day.
That is most unfortunate. The economy can be a bit of a challenge in the beginning. Episode 3 of this series shows some of what I do with the money etc. And of course try to sell a lot with trade. That can make you good amounts of money!
@@PatmosIV It would be better if there were a steady income, there very well maybe, but ive not found it. All the thing you need to keep your eye on later in the game you have to keep going back to the market, make sure the market is stocked, etc. it gets to bee to much like work.
Well once you get a village around like 150-200 people you can set payments and taxes in a way that you can break even easily. Just if you want to buy lots of stuff, you need to sell some too. So there is a steady state for the economy. Just sell goods to have some money to buy other ones.

Still one of the very best city building simulations around..... Hope to see more to come REAL LIFE events allowing.

Nice to see you back in Ostriv. Don't forget to re-enable the metal parts if you want more carts.
Thank you for the tip! I will do my best to remember it!
Patmos + Ostriv = match made in heaven.
Thank you! Really nice words! thanks for all your support!
Dit is zo'n vette game! Mooi om te zien dat er meer mensen deze game supporten!
Helemaal waar! Prachtig spel, goede developer. Hoop dat ze dit nog lang blijven updaten!
Yes! I was just hoping you'd play Ostriv again :D
Glad you enjoy it! Really had to wait till the update came out, but now lots more Ostriv to come!

Charcoal has health negative effects
Very true! Although I don't really know the range for that. How far from the pit will people still suffer from it and when will it stop?
Nice one best Dutch streamer (feel free to smash me if you're not Dutch)
Haha I can confirm the Dutch and the Streamer, The rest I leave for other to judge!
NO matter what I do my village ends the same way. Flat broke! This game is great but the way in which you make money is soooooooo dumb
