    I remember in high school how my two besties and I ran to my friends house at lunch time to watch That Girl! You and Mary Tyler Moore were my role models though my teenage years! Thank you. I also loved your wonderful father!

    Key to a successful marriage? Let Marlo interrupt Phil all the time with your big mouth.

    Would only love this couple more if Marlo had not felt the need to wreck her face with procedures.

      She is not wrecked!! Looks do not wreck people judgment does though.

    • @laniscragg1960
      @laniscragg1960 4 года назад

      Did not say she is wrecked, just her face. So many beautiful women, many much too young, are pressured to do this stuff that does not enhance their looks. She is one of thousands of Hollywood women who did not need to do this to be relevant.

    • @midnighttennessee8904
      @midnighttennessee8904 4 года назад

      @@laniscragg1960 well thank God she has you to judge her and let her know she wrecked her face. How about just not needing to mention a women by what she looks like??? How about we get rid of that idea.

    • @laniscragg1960
      @laniscragg1960 4 года назад

      chris rl well you are right and I am extremely sorry I caused you any harm. If Marlo was here I certainly am polite enough not to tell her she wrecked her face. So I should always remember that she might read this comment. She was a fabulous actress, an activist and a great role model. So this is a lesson to me that this is not the place for this type of debate. I wish you well, just as I would Phil and Marlo.

    AMAZING interview. I honestly didn't want it to end. These two television ICONS are awesome and were so wonderful to watch. That 11 mins & 56 secs were very well-spent.

    Andy, thank you so much for having these two on. What a treat to see those two. And how amazing do they look and seem? Sharp as always. Someone should do a longer interview with them both. Phil was the only talk show host back in the day to never be patronizing to the largely female audience. He had interesting topics and was a great guests and was a great interviewer. My kids are long grown now, but those shows entertained, enlightened and informed me. I d love to see a collection of his shows on Netflix or Prime.

    I remember being a little kid and my mom calling me to come watch her boring talk show, because Phil Donahue had Ryan White on. He had AIDS, and Phil had filled the audience with teens around Ryan's age. That was when I first learned about AIDS and about discrimination. Pretty sure I was under ten years old. It was such a great lesson for me to learn before I'd entered the stage of invincibility all teens go through.

      Anisa Romano I’m a bit older than you. I was a very young mum of 3 kids under 3. If Phil hadn’t been on every lunchtime I think my brain would have rotted from lack of stimulation.

      MufarosButifulDawtr I’ m Australian. We had our own lunchtime chat show & then Donahue came on next - perfect for folding &/or ironing or just putting my feet up while the babies slept. The first show was a bit of light hearted fun. But Donahue for the most part was serious topics that educated me about things I didn’t know anything about. He was my brain food. I don’t know anything about his early life but his wife Marlow was well loved here too for her show - name escapes me now. She would have had a big role in shaping his views too I think.

      MufarosButifulDawtr my babies are 80s babies. Half have kids - the 2 youngest & the other 2 don’t & I don’t think it’s going to happen for them. They wouldn’t have a clue who Phil is so bravo - pun intended- to you for appreciating him 👏👏

    My father was a producer in television during the same time as Phil Donahue. I only learned about all the shows he put on the air in the last ten years. I met Phil Donahue and Marlo Thomas at a benefit for a sailing camp on Martha's Vineyard where I, as a parent of a sailor, was dishing out the food at the buffet. I remember Phil had a terrible sunburn on his face. I said, "Hello, Mr. Donahue, blah blah, you worked with my father back in the 70's, blah blah". And he so kindly stopped and said, "Oh yes, great guy!". I talked with my father a few days later and told him about it, and he said, "nah, I never worked with him -- always seemed like a good guy, but our paths never crossed". Ha! Gentlemen.

    Phil Donahue changed my life! I was a single mom in my mid 20's without direction. He had a show about the Displaced Homemakers Grant & even explained how I could go to school & get childcare.
    Where I went from there changed who I became & I'll always be grateful to him💕

    Love Marlo Thomas! I saw her in an off Broadway play about 5 years ago, so surreal bc I grew up watching reruns of That Girl. I know how ground breaking that is now. Makes me happy her and Phil seem so happy and a great match. And an advocate for St. Jude’s...👶Refreshing.👌😊
