All his life he grew up under the authority of his father, that's why he kept his emotions inside and showed ruthlessness so that no one would see his weakness. Vegeta is a character who is forced to grow up before his time, he learned through cruelty knowing that his father will not be with him forever. I even think that his father, King Vegeta, prepared him for the cruelty of the world through that cruelty. Vegeta is definitely the most realistic character in this anime
As much as I like this storyline this isn't true, we have no idea how king Vegeta treated him on top of him being off planet like most Saiyans from birth alot of the time. I mean this could be some of.the best in head cannon iv heard though so props to you on that one.
Be ready, because Goku’s not just fighting for the saiyans or the people of Namek, he’s fighting for his friends and family. That’s what makes Goku the greatest warrior in anime history
This episode lived rent free in my head for years. You later appreciate this episode because it’s an important moment for Vegeta and what Saiyan pride means. Goku, who never fully embraced his Saiyan heritage, is now taking revenge for them. Taking up the battle for Gohan and his friends. Also the fact, that Goku loves a good challenge as much as he loves food.
I know that Vegeta deserved it for all what he did, but it is so sad moment. Vegeta fought with his pride all the time, he was really great warrior, and at the end of his time he cried, because it was disgusting and really humiliating for him to have to serve for a tyrant who murdered his father and destroyed his homeplanet. What a shame... He always had to realize Freeza's wishes... And knew what is a law of fist, law of stronger. Poor Vegeta 🥺 RIP...
This is in my opinion the most dramatic, meaningful scene in all of Dragonball. Masterfully voice-acted. This is when you know this series was on a whole different level. 15:35 - 15:48 - The stoic look on Goku's face turning to horror as Vegeta tells his story is such a fantastic detail the artists depicted as well. You know that at that point it became very personal for Goku as a Saiyan.
This is one of my favorite episodes in the entire Dragon Ball series. It was the lead-up to the battle of the century. On one side you had Goku, the low class warrior who grew up on Earth, the last survivor of his race but who had no idea how to be a Saiyan. And on the other side you had Frieza, the evil space emperor who conquered planets and had killed trillions of people, and who was seen as practically unbeatable/untouchable by everyone
@@Anos-voldigoad549 did I ask for ur opinion no so shut it learn more about the Frieza & Sayians cuz obviously u don't know everything lmao 🤣 I do I've done my research

@@johnmurphy3349 eh, I know people from usa and england enjoy this one and they're likely from there so that's fine. I just genuinely love more the original score and the impecable voice acting (although I grew up with the Latin america version)
@@johnmurphy3349 also this version changes a LOT of dialogue, to the point to be very caricaturesque. English Goku has a lot of heroic dialogue that there isn't in any version for example.
Yeah Goku never had any interested in learning about his family background considering he was under the assumption that they were probably just a bunch of evil space pirates, and his expereince with his brother Raditz definitely did not help.
well, I guess now that you've seen Goku do ab-so-lu-te-ly NOTHING for 10s of episodes, you are finally ready to see Goku fight for ... another 10s of episodes ...
Get ready for the long cinema of many acts and Vegeta sprite was broken obviously physically but mentally Vegeta broke character and he allowed himself to be vulnerable when he was crying out to Goku. And remember this moment Gohan will speak about it as the series progress. And killing gose against Goku's nature remember when Goku told Krillin to spare Vegeta. I loved Goku's speech about Vegeta when he was putting him to rest.

It’s interesting to note that this dub of dbz made it a point to never stop playing music because they were afraid that American kids would get bored. However, in that moment when Vegeta died, they had to give a moment of silence.
You should show your girlfriend this scene again but in the subbed version. Disclaimer: am not an anime elitist nor anything like that. But the funimation dub made a 180 turn on the dialogue in here, they changed the context as a whole. That's the problem w/ the original DBZ dub, they made it a complete different show from the manga, i don't personally hate it, but i hate scenes like this where the context is changed. It was the same on the Saiyan Arc where Goku told Krillin to spare Vegeta' life.
In fairness, the change from letting a known killer go free simply because you want a future challenge doesn’t make as much sense as letting him go because you want to give him a chance and maybe become an ally (which did eventually happen).
@@b.s.bobbyshaw Yes i've also noticed that. Vegeta saved Gohan & Krillin's life several times in the Namek Arc. And i also agree that Goku telling Krillin to spare Vegeta on Earth ''because he wanted a rematch'' was very stupid. The voice over endings are pretty cool, i would try to not talk threw them every time so she can hear them. Maybe one of the best goosebumps moments of dbz is a voice over ending (when Gohan turns ss2) Except for that great reaction!
Saiyans were already evil, King Cold and frieza simply overtook their “business” . The problem with the 90s English dub is it gives a false perception of saiyans being forced to be evil. Vegeta in DBS flat out admits they left Sadala and destroyed the natives of the planet they took over and named it Planet Vegeta.
It's obvious that your girlfriend doesn't like Vegeta, her reaction is confusing because she shouldn't care if he dies. TeamVegeta 💪👊 This chapter is where for the first time Goku accepts that he is a Sayayin and Vegeta with those words finally gave him the necessary motivación.

No he actually grew under Frieza's authority, Frieza took him when he was too young and forced him, Napa and Raditz into those genocides,
once Frieza even insulted him for taking 3 days to conquer a planet his friend General Zabron could in 1 day! Frieza's fault not King's
Frieza destroyed both Goku and Vageta's family and on Namek demonstrated his crukety, Frieza killed so many peaceful Nameks!
