Very poorly considering his parents divorce, little Thomas’ untimely death, the fact that Sally was ostracized from the family, and, of course, Graydons “incident” that led to the “issue” with the family.
okay but my heart is so happy watching this. this is also one of my favorite movies of all time, one that i was obsessed with as a teenager. feeling graydon’s love for this one quite literally through the screen just makes me happy.
i grew up in a musical family with instruments always around, but my moms side is the musical one, not my dads. so the “never had a lesson” bit was enacted frequently by him throughout my childhood
Actual Plot twist, Ferris Buller isn’t the main character, the audience is! that’s why Ferris breaks the fourth wall and takes us on his adventure, he does it all for us.
10 year old me watched this at my older sisters birthday party and my life was permanently changed i’ve seen it hundreds of times since!!!!! pls do more john hughes films or just from the 80s in general
Riley hit the nail on the head for me on the Cameron and Sloane dynamic, I have thought this since the first time I watched it and no one else has vocalized it. They are great for each other imo
considering my high school graduating class of a few hundred had like 5 Lillys, the A name joke has always been super funny to me and it’s one of my favorites in the entire film, crazy to me that riley didn’t like it
I think this is a better aged 80s movie. The humour holds up well. I didn't realise that was Ben Stein in the movie lol. He's turned into quite a cranky character in his later years. I hope they end up eventually doing a HOW DID IT AGE? on Freddy Got Fingered. The Ebert review for that movie has some really funny lines in it.
You touched on the editing of the film, but you should check out the cinemastix video about it. Supposedly the original sequence of the film was completely different (e.g. the parade scene is one of the first activities when the trio get to town). It tested so poorly with audiences that Paul Hirsch had to recut the whole film by resequencing most of the scenes.
i remember about five years ago my class was doing some ice breaker stuff on the first day of school. i said my favorite movie was ferris bueller’s day off and no one knew what it was except for my teacher. we were all 15-17 so maybe it makes sense but i was still surprised
Graydon's "you call it, I say it, you do it, I'll write it" was so smooth you'd almost forget he's wanted for framing Dignan for over 4 politically-based murders
if this is how fondly they felt watching ferris bueller's BIG day off i can't even imagine how irrefixably gobsmacked they'll be watching ferris bueller's BIGGEST day off
I am surprised neither of you said "Gummy bear? They've been in my pocket, they're real warm and soft" as one of the favorite lines. Or even "Ferris Bueller you're my hero!" or the poor clarinet playing before Ferris says "Never had one lesson!"
Also! With the parade scene, I believe the 'Flash Mob' being performed is the choreography to Michael Jackson's Thriller; and anytime they show construction workers or window cleaners dancing in that scene, those people were actual workers just doing their job who were dancing because they could hear the music from the movie being shot below. They aren't real extras in the movie, just random dancing workers who they happened to catch on camera!
@@XAN95-ICT that, robin hood men in tights, high anxiety, and frankenstein would all be fire. robin hood is his best work imo just because of nostalgia
Sorry, but Riley’s issue with all of the “A” names in one classroom is honestly so close-minded and subjectively separatist, I subscribed to the Patreon 😔

Also thought it was pleasant at most failing to unferstand the level of love for it. But compared to most with the same opinion, this wasn't because of Bueller. Broderick's charisma kind of works for me. The comedy works but at no point blew me away. The messaging comes across as it was written by a very up their own ass 16 year old (like Bueller himself). Overall a fun movie that didn't feel worthy of the level of praise it seems to get. Part of that may be nostalgia...
Them calling it "Big Day Off" and never acknowledging the fact that this isn't the name may be one of the best running bits ever
I think the only time they mention it is in an old episode of feud
@@tallish4727nahh it's definitely come up more than once, I'm pretty sure i remember them mentioning it in one of the last three Unlimited videos

I gotta say the commitment to the Big Day Off bit is unparalleled in Hivemind history

I think i speak for most long term fans when I say I don't even notice the "Big" anymore, to me saying Ferris Buller's Big Day Off just sounds correct
I had to google it because i mandela'd myself into thinking it was the real name
I’m a long term fan and it annoys me so much every time, but I think it’s so funny I’m mostly just mad at myself for caring 😭
i always forget its not called big everytime i see the title and am confused (i mistyped my 1st comment mb)
Honestly, I think it’s a better title. The movie might’ve been some kind of classic if it were named that.
im a long time fan and it still makes me upset. thats not what its called dammit!!!
Can’t wait to see where this one places on the Bueller scale
My mom heard them call it Big Day Off and I was able to gaslight her into thinking everyone else is experiencing a Mandela Effect sort of thing. :)
Is this not a Mandela effect? I swore it was Big Day Off

Your comment is practically nonsense. Congrats on gaining the inability to express your thoughts through words!
Berris Fueller’s small night on is the best of the 3 though.
Considering some of Jeffery Jones’ extracurricular activities, I wouldn’t be surprised if Rooney hitting on Sloane was just some smooth improv
