A higher tier of composers, the ultimate blend of organic sound and synthesis... Koan Sound continue to ascend and define their own lane in futuristic, experimental electronic music. This album is a captivating masterpiece. SHOSHIN FOREVER
They make music that’s hard to believe even as you’re listening. Absolutely mind blowing how they can consistently evolve beyond their fans expectations
This feels like the soundtrack for a mind-bending science fiction/fantasy film which somehow hasn't yet been made. Perhaps the music reached us first through a wormhole. Fabulous work.
Yeah, very reminiscent of M83 making the soundtrack to Oblivion. If you're interested, you should watch the special features for the movie that show him composing said soundtrack.
Great to hear how comfortable you two are exploring new directions. One of the many things I loved about this album is how it feels beautiful and terrifying at the same time. Keep crushing it ✌
About 10 years too early for your zeitgeist. I'm gonna say you're not gonna get the appreciation you deserve for a long time. Love your work, incredible
They've already achieved commercial success and fuck. This album was clearly for scientific/legacy purposes. Your prediction that it will take time is probably accurate, but other artists have been going into this direction of doing more than bangers. Apashe's tours for the last couple years is evidence that the masses are hungry for more sophisticated productions.
Voices of Dissent is madness. This album is a masterclass in sound design and composition all the way through, but it feels like that track woke me up and I'll never asleep again. Like the dynamics you gave the snare sound at 14:52 is so unforgettable. You've spoiled us with this album
Per their AMA on Reddit, Voices of Dissent is *entirely* comprised of sounds recorded from a cello. Every sound is from their cellist Oliver as well as them (with his permission) banging on the instrument to create the percussion. Resampled, mangled, distorted, etc, through modular hardware and even more post-processing in Ableton. Absolute madness.
First album I've listened to from start to finish in years (sad admission). I listened to it like I was watching an exciting tv show. Constantly excited for what was coming next. Absolutely beautiful, thank you x
And ya know what, the story that goes with it is great too! The relisten with that was great! I kept thinking about flying through space when I listened the first time, but figured I'd been playing too much No Man's Sky. Thanks again! Loved it twice!
This is by far Koan's best work, and personally one of the best albums i've ever listened to. Finally a true album, amidst the myriad of track compilations that are marketed as albums nowadays. Outstanding work, truly. Ordered a deluxe LP set.
The other KOAN albums also have their own amazing qualities. I wouldn't put this one in first but i'm not sure i'd put any of them first. They are all musical and sound design genius.
While listening through this from start to finish with my fiancee (obviously I've shown her some tracks in the past already but this was her first full album start to finish ) she asked me clearly impressed 'oh my gosh how many different emotions work these guys through in just one album?' and we both agreed that this artwork is definetly trying to tell us a very facetted story. We couldn't agree on every detail of this story but you guys should definetly write down your thoughts so our grandchildren's children will be able to properly study your work in school and university! You guys have outdone yourself on this. Again. Your compositions, creativity, freedom in thinking, sound design, pace, alternations, emotion, mastering and everything keeps growing and growing through all these years. Although I'm not sure if there can be any improvement over this work, I'm sure there must be because I know you guys are far from finished with your journey. Wish you guys all the success you deserve!
the journey they took us on is insane. the way I felt it ranged from utter awe and terror at tracks like Voices of Dissent, which felt like exploring the vastness of the universe and encountering alien worlds far beyond what our minds could comprehend... to heart-warming tracks like Solace of The Red Giant, which was a very home-y and happy sad feeling but tinged with melancholy and like looking at a resplendent sunset. Watching an entity as giant and as seemingly eternal as the sun dying and bowing to its benevolence, appreciating the warmth of life it jas provided amidst the abysmal darkness of Space. This track felt ancient and futuristic, and felt like the soundtrack for the indomitable human spirit. It felt like an open ending, ambiguous as to being a cry to mourn a dying star or a triumphant celebration of closing a chapter and starting a new one. These 2 masterpieces of this already masterpiece of an album stood out to me as 2 of the very prominent themes, yet I could go on and on. Virtuosic, emotional, soulful, extreme dynamics, storytelling, groovy, introspective, ineffable feelings as I keep coming back to it and let the music blow me away more and more each rewind! Legends these guys are
Wow, this album is mixed so well, it seems like a continuous flowing jurney into another world. It's just perfect, will probably listen to this the whole week on repeat. Thank you so much for this!
I had no idea this was coming. Liquid Levity and Ascension both raised my expectations of this duo significantly but I really wasn't expecting an entire album of this mastery. This is quickly overtaking my previous favorite albums of all time. I can't stop listening.
There are a lot of good albums that came out this decade. This is definitely up there. αριθμός τέσσερα from Culprate, Converting Vegitarians 2 from Infected Mushroom, Forward Escape from Tipper.. We be eating good music this last decade 😁
Feels like living in the future, but better when I listen to this type of music. Consistently evolving, top notch experience. Excellent pairing for upscale events.
I have been listening to your music since a long time now, since the earliest days of dubstep, but stopped listening to that genre some time ago. What a pleasure to hear this album, and how deep it is compared to what you used to make. This is a big evolution and I will definitely keep an ear on your upcoming releases.
I fucking love everything about this. Audio and visuals, it's an epic journey. I'm a fan of them anyway but this is by far their best work. Thank you Koan Sound.
wow... this album is really something else. i find myself completely captivated by the gorgeous imagry here in your songs! this is what a masterpiece looks like!
This album has just taken me on a beautiful introspective journey and blown my heart wide open. This is my first proper experience and I'm hooked! i can't wait to go on discovery of more Koan. Giving thanks and praise. 🙏💚
The polymetrics of anchorite, the insane physical modelling of the cellos (I assume???), the wonk of liquid levity, the crazy bass and sound design of Voices of Dissent, the unheard of kicks, the overarching development the whole album, the diversity of the tracks while the whole work is still being held together by the strings, the filmic qualities... Best release since αριθμός τέσσερα for sure!
a hopeful yet tragic and chaotic album, lots of clashing tones and melodic dissonance. its a wonderful piece of art your artistry never ceases to amaze me and others!
Embers from Chaos is the most DELICIOUSLY Kenshi song I've ever heard. the whole album is incredible, but man Edit: actually this album feels like a future punk reimagining of Iskatallith
this has potential to both be classic and timeless ❤ only time will tell, but at present, it's the perfect fusion of so many different elements wrapped up in a KOAN Sound. all the instrumentation and mind-bending sound design gel together in perfect synchrony. cinematic bass music at its finest 🥂🙌
Perfect timing for my lunch break 😁 I heard Exigence on Vision Radio last week and wow that's now my favorite I've heard so far. Can't wait to hear the rest and see y'all in Cleveland opening for G Jones in January! Strongly considering driving up to Detroit for your tour as well.
definitely the best album I've ever listened to and 100% sure I have never been so stunned and amazed and terrified simultaneously while listening to audio. This is not just music, it's an experience from opening track to the end. Mind = blown.
Listened to this after going to Stone Henge for Autumn Equinox sunrise with friends from Colorado. Spiritual car journey through the back roads to Bristol. Pretty sure this is up there with your mozarts and your Herbie Hancocks, greatest album I've ever listened to. Would love to buy you a pint guys and throw my poetry at you,

This is too good I couldn't contain my happiness at the beginning and by the end I teared up. Thank you for this masterpiece. This is just a story to listen to❤
I feel aka sakuraburst inspired a lot by your feel of music. Great job! Love it a lot and will be listening in the future! Thank for your everyday inspiration
I can't believe how good this record is, just masterful composition, sound design, storytelling, people in 50 years will still be scratching their heads wondering how the fuck you did it.... thankyou.

Spot on!
Always something more to learn if you wish to.
Need a Koan Soud X Tipper Album
KOAN brings all the elements. This is majestic, heavy, thought provoking music no doubt!
What the hell, this is incredible. One of the best modern day compositions ever to be created.
I still can’t believe how good this album is.
Underrated gem.
bruh chill, this like just came out how can it already be an underrated gem lol

theres always people who are gonna appreciate real art from the heart, and those who dont. so why judge?
I was saying the same thing about them 12 years ago so I don’t think they’ll ever get the recognition they deserve

this is the same koan sound from years ago when dubstep was getting big right?

Had to revisit this a year later and man, it's still one of the best albums ever made. God tier.
Same today, I’m glad I appreciated it more than ever before, so many details have opened for me
I think Anchorite is gonna be on top of my most played for the next 45 years. Amazing album from start to finish

what will be there on the 46th?
Saaaame anchorite and voices of dissent were immediate favorites. Middle of anchorite also had a breath of the wild vibe to it
