    Today, we will be looking at how to convert your Steam Deck into a Portable PS5. Not with Chiaki. But, with the official Sony PS Remote Play App in Windows 11 on the Steam Deck with Full Controller Support. What this means is that you will be able to play your PlayStation library on the Steam Deck outside of your home network and without having to attach a PlayStation controller, along with having a 5 hour battery life. Yes, and the reason why it is not working is because Sony updated their remote play app so that it requires a physical playstation controller in order to work. This was a few months ago. What this means is that software controller emulation can no longer be used with PS Remote Play. Fortunately, there is an alternative and it actually works better than the official remote play app. It's called Chiaki and we have a video showing how to set it up... Here it is... ruclips.net/video/HkX_AJZwGdk/видео.html

      Hi Ricky, this is because sometime after this video was made Sony decided to issue an update to the PS Remote Play that would disable almost every third party software controller emulator to force us to have to use an actual PS controller.
      We found a way around this through Chiaki. Not only can we use our built in controller but it has far less latency than the Sony App. And it can be configured for use outside of the home as well. Give it a try... ruclips.net/video/HkX_AJZwGdk/видео.html

    • @OVERKILLGAMING786
      @OVERKILLGAMING786  Год назад

      Yes. My suggestion is to try Chiaki instead. This is what I use. We made the switch to Chiaki because Sony updated their PS Remote Play app which disabled controller emulation softwares. Basically, you would have to have your PS5 controller connected to the Steam Deck in order for it to work. With Chiaki this is no longer an issue. There is also less latency with Chiaki. By default it will across wifi and will automatically detect your PS5 after registration. We have also included instructions on how to set up Chiaki for use outside of your home network using Port Forwarding. The setup process for Port Forwarding may differ based on the router you have but is essentially the same steps: ruclips.net/video/HkX_AJZwGdk/видео.htmlsi=g9x2s3ee_CVWSzJm

If I download Chiaki for Windows the input lag is significantly reduced but video is glitchy and audio cracks. Any suggestions on how to reduce input lag with the official PS remote play app? • @OVERKILLGAMING786
      @OVERKILLGAMING786  2 года назад +1

      I did notice a slight bit of input delay as well, but nothing gamebreaking. It could be due to the fact that it works across the internet rather than the home network like Chiaki does. There aren't any settings to tweak in the PS Remote Play app. So, I can only assume that it will reduce based on the actual strength of the connection itself. I don't think it is due to the controller software. I would have to compare it against using an actual PS controller connected to the Steam Deck to be certain.

    • @BillPinkNye
      @BillPinkNye Год назад

      The reason for the official PS Remote Play app having so much input lag is because the signal goes to Sony servers first. So it leaves your Playstation, goes to their servers then to your streaming device. I'm not sure how true that is. But after using a 3rd party app on android called PS Play and Chiaki on the Deck. I believe that's true. Those apps seem to only use your network.

    What's the frame rate on Remote Play? 60fps?

      Yes. The same framerate that is produced on the PS5 will be what you see on the Steam Deck

    Can you improve the resolution or is it locked to 720p?

    • @OVERKILLGAMING786
      @OVERKILLGAMING786  Год назад +1

      With the Sony PS Remote Play app it is locked to 720p. Also, a few months ago there was an update to the app that disabled Dual Shock 4 emulator apps so the only way to use it is with a physical PS controller. We switched to Chiaki and it works much better. You can use the built in controller and it will also allow you to use 1080p... ruclips.net/video/HkX_AJZwGdk/видео.html

      I don't see why it wouldn't work from an SD card as long as the SD card is close to the speed rating of the SD card slot. Avoid using cheap slow SD cards or you may experience performance issues.

    • @OVERKILLGAMING786
      @OVERKILLGAMING786  2 года назад

      It is possible to use Chiaki outside of the home network if you set up port forwarding on your router, which is less secure. That's why I don't recommend it.

      @@OVERKILLGAMING786 can you explain how

    • @OVERKILLGAMING786
      @OVERKILLGAMING786  2 года назад +1

      Port forwarding usually means leaving a gap in your security. This can potentially be dangerous because hackers could also use this to penetrate your network. Consequently, there are some documented cases when an opened port was used as an attack vector. That's why most websites won't recommend you to open ports if you’re not entirely sure what you’re doing.

    • @OVERKILLGAMING786

      If you want to use the official Playstation remote play app, then yes. You can also use Chiaki in SteamOS. But you will not be able to connect to the PS5 outside of the home without setting up Port Forwarding in your router.
