Got ps remote play to work after downloading the ps plus software. After connecting the ps5 and steamdeck, how do you play outside of the home metwork?
With PS Remote Play it works the same whether you are at home or outside of home. There is nothing different that you will have to do. Make sure your Steam Deck is connected to wifi and then open the PS Remote Play app and connect to your PS5.

Yes. My suggestion is to try Chiaki instead. This is what I use. We made the switch to Chiaki because Sony updated their PS Remote Play app which disabled controller emulation softwares. Basically, you would have to have your PS5 controller connected to the Steam Deck in order for it to work. With Chiaki this is no longer an issue. There is also less latency with Chiaki. By default it will across wifi and will automatically detect your PS5 after registration. We have also included instructions on how to set up Chiaki for use outside of your home network using Port Forwarding. I am noticing much more input lag using the official remote play app with the suggested apps in the video. If I download Chiaki for Windows the input lag is significantly reduced but video is glitchy and audio cracks. Any suggestions on how to reduce input lag with the official PS remote play app? I am using ethernet on the PS5. Is it possible SWIXD and DS4 apps are causing input lag?
I did notice a slight bit of input delay as well, but nothing gamebreaking. It could be due to the fact that it works across the internet rather than the home network like Chiaki does. There aren't any settings to tweak in the PS Remote Play app. So, I can only assume that it will reduce based on the actual strength of the connection itself. I don't think it is due to the controller software. I would have to compare it against using an actual PS controller connected to the Steam Deck to be certain.
The reason for the official PS Remote Play app having so much input lag is because the signal goes to Sony servers first. So it leaves your Playstation, goes to their servers then to your streaming device. I'm not sure how true that is. But after using a 3rd party app on android called PS Play and Chiaki on the Deck. I believe that's true. Those apps seem to only use your network.
Can this allow you to play your ps5 games while away from your Ps5 like you are traveling but you leave your ps5 at home will it work? Anyone know thanks in advance
Yes. You can play remotely from another location (such as work) from your PS5 on your Steam Deck. I have also learned how to do this with the Chiaki for Windows app as well

@@OVERKILLGAMING786 Any idea why when I double tap either L2 or R2 on the deck in chiaki on windows, it exits out of full screen? How do I turn this off? Thanks
I don't see why it wouldn't work from an SD card as long as the SD card is close to the speed rating of the SD card slot. Avoid using cheap slow SD cards or you may experience performance issues.
It is possible to use Chiaki outside of the home network if you set up port forwarding on your router, which is less secure. That's why I don't recommend it.
Port forwarding usually means leaving a gap in your security. This can potentially be dangerous because hackers could also use this to penetrate your network. Consequently, there are some documented cases when an opened port was used as an attack vector. That's why most websites won't recommend you to open ports if you’re not entirely sure what you’re doing.
That's a hard one because I do really enjoy SteamOS. But, Windows is able to play all of my games. So, if I could only choose one it would probably be Windows
If you want to use the official Playstation remote play app, then yes. You can also use Chiaki in SteamOS. But you will not be able to connect to the PS5 outside of the home without setting up Port Forwarding in your router.

For PS Remote Play Chiaki is the best route because Sony updated their app and it no longer allows for third party controller emulators. Here is the video on how to set up Chiaki....ruclips.net/video/HkX_AJZwGdk/видео.html
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 Nice. Thank you.
Wat does it mean wen I connect to chiaky it said streaming connection error how do u fix this
I am noticing much more input lag using the official remote play app with the suggested apps in the video.
Does this also work for the legion go?
For the Legion Go we are using Chiaki. ruclips.net/video/HkX_AJZwGdk/видео.htmlsi=EQ5cXXXbQirUvVfo
Can this allow you to play your ps5 games while away from your Ps5 like you are traveling but you leave your ps5 at home will it work? Anyone know thanks in advance
Yes. You can play remotely from another location (such as work) from your PS5 on your Steam Deck. I have also learned how to do this with the Chiaki for Windows app as well
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 I have Chiaki installed and everytime I try to take my steamdeck out the house to play from a different wifi connection it wont work. Please show me a video or email me or explain to me how to do it please. My game is releasing on friday and I really need to figure out how to get this to work. Thanks
I love your videos thank you for all the work, I have a question would this work using gloSI instead of swic? I had issues installing swic ad I have gloss working good, would like to see if is possible. thank you very much
I would say give it a try. It may work
Thank you so much. Everything works except the touchpad emulation. Wondering is there a way to fix this?

Also check out the new app we are using called Handheld Companion. We just released a video on it yesterday and its a much better option.
What's the frame rate on Remote Play? 60fps?
Yes. The same framerate that is produced on the PS5 will be what you see on the Steam Deck
Can you improve the resolution or is it locked to 720p?
With the Sony PS Remote Play app it is locked to 720p. Also, a few months ago there was an update to the app that disabled Dual Shock 4 emulator apps so the only way to use it is with a physical PS controller. We switched to Chiaki and it works much better. You can use the built in controller and it will also allow you to use 1080p... ruclips.net/video/HkX_AJZwGdk/видео.html
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 Any idea why when I double tap either L2 or R2 on the deck in chiaki on windows, it exits out of full screen? How do I turn this off? Thanks
When in remote play It doesn't see the dualshock 4 emulation. I'm on windows 10
This updated video addresses the problem you're experiencing: ruclips.net/video/HkX_AJZwGdk/видео.html
Remote play exe not installing on my steam deck
Does this work if you run from SD card?
The app isn't opening.
I don't see why it wouldn't work from an SD card as long as the SD card is close to the speed rating of the SD card slot. Avoid using cheap slow SD cards or you may experience performance issues.
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 Just did the SSD split and redownloaded the app. It still does not open.
Best guide ever
Thanks! Glad it worked out for you
Thank you!!!
Thank you.
I'm doing this when I get home.
I for the life of me can't get thus to work

didnt work :(
I play Chiaki (PS5) outside of my home network for months now
It is possible to use Chiaki outside of the home network if you set up port forwarding on your router, which is less secure. That's why I don't recommend it.
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 can you explain how
Port forwarding usually means leaving a gap in your security. This can potentially be dangerous because hackers could also use this to penetrate your network. Consequently, there are some documented cases when an opened port was used as an attack vector. That's why most websites won't recommend you to open ports if you’re not entirely sure what you’re doing.
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 no worries. Nuclear war won't happen if someone plays on chiaki with his own steamdeck using my ps4 and i too
Lol..
Yasss!!!!!
👍
Way easier
Goood! Chiaki I do not like at all
Great work, wonderful video's...
Question....
if you were not running a dual boot, would you rather use Steam OS or Windows?
That's a hard one because I do really enjoy SteamOS. But, Windows is able to play all of my games. So, if I could only choose one it would probably be Windows
Do you need to have windows on steam deck?
If you want to use the official Playstation remote play app, then yes. You can also use Chiaki in SteamOS. But you will not be able to connect to the PS5 outside of the home without setting up Port Forwarding in your router.
