It would have been perfect if Hirst didn't make him a crazy comic book villain like the Joker in season 5 with no redeeming qualities. Thankfully he made him more measured and relatable later on.
@@RustCohle072 so thanks Hirst to have made him a crazy villain who is proclaiming himself as a god. It was the logical choice for Ivar's character developpement, it because he was awful in season 5b that we love him much more because he had his redeem. Then i would say that even if i didn't like the personnality of "Ivar the God" when he knew his son Baldr was not his son after all, he didn't believe anymore in his god thing. He was already back, the Ivar who fight Bjorn in Kattegat was not the god but the fallen man. And in season 6, he becomes a real man then a legend.
This guy was so phenomenal as ivar, After the death of rhangar the show became really monotonous and at this point of time In any show you feel the necessity of an unpredictable character. Ivar was cruel, ruthless, ambitious, tactical genius and unpredictable. His can make you infuriated with his diabolical acts at the same time he can make you feel his anguish if being a cripple, such a complex and shaded character, and the guy who played ivar did such an overwhelming job as Ivar, seriously What an actor! What a character and what a beautiful work, every work of yours is ethereal be it on the characters of got or on the characters of Vikings

Ragnar is smarter Ivar just probably a better battle tactician.....Even tho I think none of Ivars Strategies tops Ragnar's Casket scene.....In the end Ragnar manipulated both Ivar and Ecbert.
My dear son Bjorn is a very good warrior and army manager, but Ivar is much better in politics and intelligence. Ambition, intelligence and talent come together in Ivar. Sorry, Bjorn.

He was the most complex... and well developed person in this series after Ragna in my opinion and he never let his legs get in the way of his accomplishments and he used his ability to read people and his disabilities to his advantage

Wanna know what I love... when ivar was bullied and belittled by people around them...floki was the one mentoring him and comforting him....and then when prince igor was hostage at the rus capitol ...it was ivar who was the one mentoring him and comforting him....ivar has learned a lot from floki and his character development is one of the best I have ever seen throughout every series I have watched

The last 4 seasons of this show FUCKED me up! Was just getting over the major death of season four then the two major deaths of season 6 happened and I am just broken!
I think my favorite scene from this half season was when Ivar was sort of "puppeteering" the attacks in his battle against Alfred. That was beautifully done.
@AsMâ C.K Everything involving Iceland/Greenland. From the moment Floki set sail there I lost a lot of interest in the show, but luckily Ivar was still really captivating.
God I loved the relationship between Ivar and Igor as well as Ivar and Hvitsverk.. the two story arcs were the best parts of the show since ragnars death.
