The Oberhafenquartier Hamburg, Oberhafenbrücke und Oberhafenkantine
Across the former revolving Oberhafen Bridge or the new Hafencity to the Oberhafen district.
The Brücke, dating from 1906, formerly a swing bridge, today a two-storey bridge, above for the trains that all come to Hamburg via the Elbe and below for cars, pedestrians and cyclists. The bridge is known from numerous movies, TV series and commercials, and has also been used time and again for music videos.
At the entrance to the Oberhafen quarter is the sloping building of the Oberhafencanteen, which sank due to numerous washouts during floods and storm surges and now stands on an incline. Formerly a "coffee shop" for the harbour workers, it is now a restaurant.
The Oberhafen district offers plenty of variety. The former storage sheds are now a location for creative, artistic and cultural professionals. Not forgetting the opportunities to relax and indulge in food and drink. Film studios, galleries, start-ups and even a trendy scene club have found their way into the sheds. A visit to the former goods station dating back to 1872 is definitely worthwhile.
