I haven't played the game myself, so sorry if I'm completely wrong about this, but what I figured through watching is that the Draugr have time to heal and lvl up while you run around. So keeping the pressure on them and not disengaging, unless it is for a quick heal, might be the way to go. Also I think most of the enemies in that last part awakened from the petrified statues, which you can shatter. So shattering them as early as possible seems very important
Yea give me GMGOW difficulty is extremely tough if youre not acustomed to the combat and how to handle the gangbangs. Knocking them in to a wall does craazy stun dmg. Against bigger or higher lvl enemies the counter doesnt actually stunlock them but the stun meter still goes up and they still take dmg. You can also charge you axe throws for more dmg, headshots also do more dmg and can stun certain enemies as well. Heavy axe throw can get stuck on weaker enemies and they are frozen until you call back your axe, then you can use bare fist attacks to do crazy stun damage.
I'm well versed in difficult games, but I remember how GOW 2018 instantly made me realize I had a lot to learn in the mechanics and timing. It's literally the section you get to that always stopped me my first playthrough because I didn't level skills that would help me in the fight and I didn't understand the whole mechanics of the game. But the leveling system is so key to doing a fresh start on GMGOW difficulty. Pick the right upgrades on the axe for your combat style after you prioritize the parry/reflect counterattack.
When you have a alot of enemies like that with strong or replenishing health bars, its sometimes more useful to ditch the axe and use your fists and atreus arrows - they build stun faster than damage, and once stunned you can r3 kill them. Far faster way of dealing with masses when you dont have aoe runic attacks
On GMGOW the biggest thing that will do you in are the draiugr that level up 20 times and nuke your ass. On lower difficulties enemies don't level up mid fight. You must abuse the heavy attack because that interupts the level up. Also throwing the axe, also shooting them multiple times with arrows. Atreus is very useful. Sure, on GMGOW he can't stagger valkyries and shit but his runic summons( the wolf and crow ones) and insanely good and his lighning arrows nuke lesser opponents. You also want to get as much side xp and hacksilver as possible. Eventually you will have heaps of hacksilver, resourses and xp but at the start of the game it is essential to get every little bit. That is why I played normal mode first, just to learn and go through all the secret places by myself before going into GMGOW. You will need brutal efficiency with your xp in order to unlock all the moves. For runics I personally recommend Njord's tempest and Frost Giant's frenzy( long animation but nukes enemies and keeps them stunlocked. For the blades I go nemean crush and fire of ares. Vs Valkyries you can swap Frost Giants's frenzy for something that does all it's damage in 1 animation. I personally still use Frost Giant's frenzy but I use it with the Talisman of the Realms which gives a realm shift- when facing Valkyries you use the talisman and then you nuke them with the long animation. It does absurd damage but takes a long time. Abuse ledges and attacks like the jumping heavy attack that can throw people off. If any area is too hard, leave it and come back later. Don't focus on buying too many armours since they are mostly shitty. Once you get the Dwarven Armour that is when you taste quality. You later should get the Nifleheim armour and at that point everything is easy. Even if you fuck up the armour gives you very good stats and you take less damage and it gives passive healing so you can regen. The best stats are strength, runic and defense. A moderate amount of CD- like 60 or 70 later on and around 50 luck is good. Vitality is overrated since every 2 vitality gives 1 hp, and you get over 120 hp from just the apples you get as collectibles so that is how you get your hp. If you run a balanced build your strength, runic and deffense should be about the same value- over 200, maybe closer to 230 on the strength and defense. You can change up the build and have more runic or more strength but both are useful. EDIT: I know you probably figured all this out since you have experience with hard games but I hope I gave a tip that helped you and will help you when you do NG+
I did both god of wars on the hardest. On the first one legit the first 4/5 hours were ridiculous,… but then as soon as you start upgrading gear etc then it gets so much easier, after the first 5 hours the only deaths I had were muspelheim and Niflheim. But man… that early draugr section was hell
Honestly watching this video was hilarious the fact that you've never played God of War before and then you put it on the hardest setting give me God of War and you're trying to figure out how to play the game while you're just getting demolished is very funny😂😂 yeah give me God of War depending on which fight you're in is no joke
beating the sequel on (give me god of war) is ever more unforgiving, because every bos will stun trap you to where if u dont parry the 1st move the 2 move will always hit u because blocking yellow ring moves always breaks guard. they have them in the original too but not to the same degree. then they had blue ring moves which is even more annoying which usually leads to u get hit multiple times. and on the hardest difficultly u will never be able to tank more than 4 hits haha. the best part about this game is that you can buffer out of all attacks except running or dash attacks which is annoying when u do those moves
I’ve been playing this for the first time and decided to play it on hard mode lol it’s been a month of on and off gameplay and I’m still only half way or so (like an hour after telling Atreus he’s a god) I love the story.. and getting to a new cutscene is like a reward for my pain 😂
If you can make it to the open world. You have a chance. But you have to explore and over level. You already missed a health upgrade at 14:00 and im sure people are already telling you about the endgame bosses. I wont spoil but on GMGOW the basically require max level gear.
First time watching your videos and I’m enjoying this so much , I can’t wait for more of gow, i love how you keep complaining about how the fights are “unfair” even though you chose the hardest mode😂😂
I also played it for the first time on Give me God of War. It becomes more fair as you level up, but never trully easy. Its fun tought, for me at least.
How we got here can be found at comics of God of War. Long story short is Kratos can not die by his own hand, Athena gave him this curse at the God of War 1 where he firstly tried to jump off a cliff. So when he stabbed himself at the end of 3 he fell into the sea and found himself at Norse Lands after some time. This game is a masterpiece, enjoy ♥
In terms of difficulty, I will say this game on GMGOW is harder than any of the dark souls game. Ragnarok isn’t as hard in the main story, but some of the secret bosses will have you tearing out your hair, definitely some of the hardest ish I’ve ever been through.
Dude im a souls gamer too and i finished gow a few days ago my first playthrough and yes you guessed right, god of war difficulty %100 all maps took me 3 weeks to finish 💀
Once you get used to the timing and flow of combat, you'll be glad you chose the God of War difficulty. Also, to anyone that is coming with Soulsbourne games or The Witcher 3, I recommend changing the controls so that ⭕️ is the dodge instead of X
I will say guys... I started my first ever game in this series with God of War: Ragnarok on Give Me God of War and at first it was crazy but you get used to it. I've also completely beat the game already all the way through to Gna on the same difficulty and I've started over in New Game + with the same difficulty and just passed beating Heimdall again. Kinda love it on the hardest difficulty... it's rewarding
actually you can do it, and always try to through the enemies of the ledge with a heavy attack and have some patience if the enemy is full hp they can not level up so try to control your attacks, and the last thing this is by far the hardest area in the game, it will get easier.
I’m gonna throw my 2 pence in, I played the original trilogy from launch and the HD remasters and platinumed them. However I too have NOT played 2018 yet, it is in me list so hold on a minute. I’m fully aware of the whole storyline in 2018, and for a new player there’s a point in the game that reveals kratos past and who he is which would probably work as a “surprise” for new players, but seeing kratos’ journey in the originals have to be witnessed 1st hand. Definitely. Hopefully the rumours of a remake is true and can do justice to the original trilogy
Hi, you've had an interesting experience! I’ve watched a lot of playthroughs. You’ll definitely enjoy the story’s twist. I’d love to play it too, but my PC can barely handle it, so I’m thinking about trying cloud gaming. Among all the services, I only found this game on boosteroid so far. Could you maybe record how it runs on that service? It would really help me decide whether to subscribe.
Your audience: Don’t play on the hardest difficulty for your first time. This guy: Man… I got this, everybody chill… Also this guy: *20 minutes in the 1st part* “i’M LeaRNinG, I’m LEarninG!!” 💀😂
The problem with the hardest difficulty is that the game is not designed for it, and no one tuned the beginning potions for a smooth curve in this higher difficulty, so it's unnecessarily hard and repetitive since you don't have the relevant tools, skills or gear yet. It's as if Dark Souls would start you out in the catacombs instead of the asylum and the intended option to go to undead burg first. It's not impossible, but I doubt it would have been as popular with such a screwed up start.
The hardest difficulty is extremely unforgiving. You’ll enjoy the story more if you swallow your pride and lower it 😂

Found my new favorite youtuber😂
You gotta remember Atreus’ arrows during big battles like the one at the end.
Give me god of war difficulty is a pain but makes the game so much better. Finished my first run on that difficulty and it made it so memorable
Your elden ring experience shows in the combat
Brother wants to see valhalla as soon as possible 💀 goodluck
The hardest difficulty on God of War is kinda overkill but the one below it is alright
This dude is too funny bro😂
Day 1 of asking the goat to finish the dark souls 2 dlcs....
Ok I will post it on the channel, but it'll be a different kind of video so you'll have to bear with me for a bit
beating the sequel on (give me god of war) is ever more unforgiving, because every bos will stun trap you to where if u dont parry the 1st move the 2 move will always hit u because blocking yellow ring moves always breaks guard. they have them in the original too but not to the same degree. then they had blue ring moves which is even more annoying which usually leads to u get hit multiple times. and on the hardest difficultly u will never be able to tank more than 4 hits haha. the best part about this game is that you can buffer out of all attacks except running or dash attacks which is annoying when u do those moves
Ah man you have potential and you gonna get there some day 🙏🏻
The new God of War games don't get enough credit for how good their combat systems are
I’ve been playing this for the first time and decided to play it on hard mode lol it’s been a month of on and off gameplay and I’m still only half way or so (like an hour after telling Atreus he’s a god)
I love the story.. and getting to a new cutscene is like a reward for my pain 😂
You had spartan rage the whole time.
If you can make it to the open world. You have a chance. But you have to explore and over level. You already missed a health upgrade at 14:00 and im sure people are already telling you about the endgame bosses. I wont spoil but on GMGOW the basically require max level gear.
Wasn’t expecting the Femto backdrop lol
6:47 oh if only he knew why he looks this way😂
First time watching your videos and I’m enjoying this so much , I can’t wait for more of gow, i love how you keep complaining about how the fights are “unfair” even though you chose the hardest mode😂😂
Lets all be honest kratos is like the quiet kid in class
'Give me god of war' out the gate is mad humbling 😂. Its better for NG+. But youre a gamer bro you got it
I also played it for the first time on Give me God of War. It becomes more fair as you level up, but never trully easy. Its fun tought, for me at least.
"Overconfidence is a slow and insiduous killer."
"he's right to kill the boy" 😂
You're so right. I swear I've had a harder time dealing with "the hateful", dreki, and Gna than I have against Odin, Thor, or Baldur.
Brother use your fists when fighting draugrs, that will stagger them really easily… Very nice vid with top tier commentary tho
0:34 This is a soft reboot. It's okay to start here. They're still going to give you tidbits of what happened in the past games. So you good.
"Whare are my subtitles?" is a real feeling. If you play games without subtitles, we got a problem.
18:30 what he says here would actually make sense if he had picked any other difficulty. I pray for your soul and anything breakable around you.
From the video i thought u would be a dude with a million subs, keep 9t up
He is saying he’s played harder games. Meanwhile he’s dying in the tutorial
actually you can do it, and always try to through the enemies of the ledge with a heavy attack and have some patience if the enemy is full hp they can not level up so try to control your attacks, and the last thing this is by far the hardest area in the game, it will get easier.
Broooo, I'm geeking at why blud didn't kill the frozen draugrs so that they don't all come alive 45:50. 😭😩
You have to come back and watch this someday after you play through the end.
This mf don’t miss 😤
It's gow season🔥
I hope you noticed how seamless the camera from gameplay and cutscenes are. The camera never stops shooting.
Your audience: Don’t play on the hardest difficulty for your first time.
This guy: Man… I got this, everybody chill…
Also this guy: *20 minutes in the 1st part* “i’M LeaRNinG, I’m LEarninG!!”
💀😂
I have beaten many games and have been proud, but I have never jumped up and marked out harder than I beat Sigrun. The scream I scrumpt.
