I was introduced to this amazing man in the 90's through Tarot songs he will never know how shocked I was when it was thought he'd never be able to sing again after botched throat surgery I watched him join Nightwish after learning to sing again and have followed ever since I watched him sing with Northern Kings I watched them live on their 2012 tour he will never know about the treasured albums I own, the tears I cried on 12 January while reading his farewell letter or the fact that when I shake my earthly bonds at the end of it al l- the music that will fill the room as I leave for the last time will be this song!
The band had come from South America only a few days earlier so they had jetlag, Tarja was ill, Jukka was ill...the guys knew what was coming after the show...but they got through with it. The guitarist Emppu is along with Tuomas the only one who is from the original Nightwish left...I mean...if he leaves the band...no one can replace him...no one...I think he is Tuomas right hand and a friend from way back when they were kids and he is one of the best guitarists in the world. Thanks for a great reaction....Sleeping Sun from this show is one of Tarjas best singing ever.
A nice reaction. Sad of the Marko's leaving Nightwish. I'm so happy that my last concert in 2020, 2 weeks before the full lockdown in France was Marko in a small venue at Paris to present his new album. Less than 200 people. A magical moment.

...and to think that, by the time End of an Era was filmed, Marko had already been through a botched vocal chord operation is mind-bending. This song, and his part in The Phantom of The Opera (same concert) among others, is a testament to his ability and technical prowess. I was lucky enough to discover Marko since his Tarrot days (with his brother) in the early 90s. He is a legitimate lead vocalist that could front any metal (or otherwise) band. However, all these years, he has vocally supported all the front ladies of Nightwish (Tarja, Annette and Floor) while being a song-writing wing man for Tuomas. His departure will definitely leave a void in Nightwish. I hope he finds his Walden soon. I also hope that one day he returns back to the Nightwish family where he belongs. Farewell brother Marko, we love you, miss you and bid you godspeed.
@Clive Matthews We can't really make a comment on that as we don't know enough about that era, but if you liked it, that's what counts. Thanks for watching.
At that day Jukka didn't have problem with insomnia but hardcore migraine. You can see at the middle of the song Tuomas shaking his head to tell Emppu to check how Jukka feels. He did that. You can see Emppu is jumping from Jukkas "box" into the stage when second chorus starts. Playing drums in strobe light with migraine, what a man?! :D

Yeah, the drummer still has the insomnia issues, though he's part of the Nightwish production, like the business side. Yet the way he goes to rest behind the drums is not really coming from the insomnia - he does it in every song, when there's silence for the drums. It'n his manner to concentrate, and live through and enjoy, the music.
I warned you, hehe. This song was a tribute and not a cover. I am happy for the sincerity with which you react to the songs. Thank you, and let's move on.
@Germano Wibe Thank you for the comment, it was a great Tribute cover, how's that? Where could we possible move onto next? Humm.. let's see now. Thanks for the comments and for watching.
@@BritPopsReact Okay. I think we've come to terms with Tribute Cover. Although I like most songs from NW, "Ghost River" and "Wish I Had An Angel" are good examples to keep walking, but obviously you decide. Once again, your honesty has been a beacon so far, keep it up. Thanks.
@Taldren Hello and thank you for the comment. We actually did the PF original video version before we set out on this one to get an idea of the difference. Thanks for watching
This was filmed in 2005. Jukka left group 2014 because if insomnia. Not sure how long he suffered from that but i would assume things did went gradually for worse.
@Petri K Aha, I got the dates wrong, so that you for that information. He did a great job considering he was not well, it was fantastic to see. Thanks for the comment and for watching.
@@BritPopsReact It's strange feeling watching this show or DVD because all four members knew at this time they were going to fire singer Tarja. You can see that there is not much communication between Tarja and band on stage. Little bit with Marko but that is just show business.
Just a little backstory on this one, my understanding Jukka the drummer had a migraine, and this was at End of an Era concert. The band unanimously had already decided to fire their then lead singer and face of Nightwish at the time Tarja, at the conclusion of this show. The band all knew it was coming, she didn't. Just adds to the feel of the song when sings, "With friends around me" and the emotional ending. Loved the reaction.
@Allen Nightwish Army Thank you as always for the great comment and we had plenty of other comments too adding additional information that I went back through the reaction to watch all the parts unfold. It takes on a whole new feel once you know all the back story to it. Thanks for the nice words too, we appreciate it.
Lacks the British melancholy of the Floyd version which was the point of the song. It’s like comparing Simon and Garfunkel’s Sound of Silence vs Disturbed’s version. They Nightwished it is exactly what they did here.
@Esl1999 Yes, we totally agree and said we were not there to compare, but both versions can make you instantly change your mood. But they Nightwished the $hit out of it
Oh nice, I was waiting for this. Quick prediction, you gonna like it xd I predict at least a 9/10 more likely 10/10. Oh and zero on the Floormeter xd Well, 9/10 it is xd Looking forward for your next reactions. It is fun to guess your score.
@Chris Cross You are doing a great job at calling the scores, we may refer to you as our unofficial external source if we ever have a tie break situation. You called it right and we very much liked this, it was deffo (definitely) "Our cup of tea, just the right amount of Rock and Heavy for our delicate ears. Where do you think we will be going next? @@BritPopsReact I would rly like to know your Opinion on Aurora because I fell in love with her songs lately. But guessing where you go next is quite hard because you tackle a few genres, which i like. I ll check out most. As long as you don't go for Rammstein xd
@Chris Cross Aha, Brilliant, OK, note to "Brit Pop1" hold back the Rammstein reactions!! we don't want to lose our biggest contributor. We have not done anything on Aurora as yet, you may notice we sort of spin off other reactions a lot, if we get an idea we kind of run with it. But we could check that out at some stage, did someone, it may have been you state that Floor may have collaborated.. it's sounds about right to me in the back of my tiny mind...hummm. We have some interesting tings coming and hopefully introduce you to something new along the way.
@@BritPopsReact I don't think they did a collab. I might be wrong tough. Well if you find that, if it exists, i would be totally there for it. Well, i am going to search for it. That would be a dream team.
@Chris Cross Sorry, my bad and my old age memory. It was EPICA that I heard as the lead singer is Floor's friend, perhaps that was where I got the connection. Sorry about that, hope you didn't waste too much time on the search. I need a lie down! Stay safe
Great reaction guys! I always rap up my listening before you rate them. I know of only 3 other reactors who rate the talent on a scale. Maybe it’s just me, but reactions are so subjective that a rating scale is not necessary. This is not America’s Got Talent and none of us are Simon Cowell. That said, I still enjoy all but the last minute of your reactions.
@Ward Hart That's not a problem at all, we have people that play along and give their scores before they get to ours, it's just for fun and we have absolutely no idea or experience to rate anyone. It's solely based on our taste and where we would rate on our own personal scale. We are happy that you enjoy watching our reactions and if you want to skip the last part, we will not be offended. Come back soon, we will give you plenty of warning when the scoring will take place.😎
@Ile Salmo Hi, we were kind of advised to follow a list that was provided to us and checking on that: "My Walden" live at Wembley 2015 (celtic / folk) That is another 3 songs away. We will get to that eventually if you can out up with us two long enough. Thanks for watching
@@BritPopsReact Even though I'm a Finn, I suggest their My Walden Wembley rather than the Finnish Tampere performance, because who wouldn't like to headline at Wembley.
Hey, lads. Another stellar reaction. Like your take on this one. You don't find very many covers of the Floyd. For good reason I suppose. But if anyone could do them justice, it would be Nightwish. I prefer NW's original music for obvious reasons. And I prefer Floyd's original music for those same obvious reasons really. Of course, I'm a classic rock guy first because I grew up on it and played it in bands for years. But it had gotten a little stale for me. NW made me excited about music again like it did when I was ten and heard the Beatles for the first time. Just goes to show you the power of music. And you actually can teach an old dog new tricks. 😄 Peace out, mates. Hope you are well. 🇬🇧 🇬🇧 🇬🇧 🤘😊🤘
@Neal Turner Hi and thanks for the nice comment and the background info too. It's great to get these type of comments. As you may know, we are very new to the NW scene and as for PF, we know the classics but would not say we are in anyway fans, but appreciate all good music. From doing these reactions, we have been introduced to music that we would not normally have sat and listened to and have come to appreciate other artists, who would have thought we would be giving top of the shop scores to an all female Japanese Rock band? We try to be honest and respectful in our reactions and no jumping around inside the house for us. Thanks for taking the time to put all that down and at least you had enough talent to play in bands, that must have been great. Music really is a beautiful gift. Peace out and stay tuned. Thanks for the support.
I would say the Pinkfloyd version is dreamy, this one is haunting. And the atmosphere was weird as drummer Jukka was not feeling well and during this performance they knew singer Tarja was going to be kicked out right after the show
hmmmmm, well, I can't say for sure, just my observations from other videos but I'm not too sure Jukka was having trouble playing this, I've seen him do that movement before and I think he's concentrating and counting on his click track when to come in, jus my opinion.
@doc8645 Hi and thanks for the comment, I did read another comment saying the same, that it was a rumour that was started and it seems to have stuck, but then also a lot of other saying that it was from insomnia and a Migraine. It would be good to know which is correct. Thanks for the comment
@@BritPopsReact well yeah insomnia and something else, I thought it was back problems but don't know was real, just I don't think it was bothering him that bad back in 07 with this concert and after the 2013 tour Jukka did quit playing and handed the reins over to his friend Kai who was the drummer for Wintersun, and like I said this band is like a family and Jukka is still with them but in a management role and even during the covid Tuomas says he talks to him and sees him cause they live pretty close.
@Lord Lockdowns Jukebox Yup, us too on this one, we did do a reaction to the Floyd version just to compare as we both had not heard that one. We have a few FP reactions: ruclips.net/video/iOkQeffccZM/видео.html ruclips.net/video/36BXs_VkHgw/видео.html ruclips.net/video/HRr1Q0Gwctc/видео.html We obviously can't do any of the big ones as we both know them and we are not going to pretend we don't on anything. See what you think of those and if we got it right back then
I have always been of the opinion that if you are going to do a cover, make it your own, otherwise if you are only going to duplicate the original, what's the point.
@Marco Boneff You did a great job getting in first, there were quite a few others waiting for this to go live. Thanks for watching and the comments too.
Was a great tribute they did , they all look sad because it might have been the end of Nightwish that night after they sacked their female singer after this concert. Did you spot the jack sparrow doll on Tuomas keyboard?
@Duncan Wyer You did well to spot that or maybe it was due to our screen being small but I had to go back in and watch it really intently and caught a good view of it at 8:45 to see it clearly.
@timomastosalo
Ah, that's good to hear he is still part of the Nightwish family,
Thanks for the comment.
Yes, Jukka did that all the time in the quiet bits.
He's actually fully retired from all activities with the band now.
Jukka 🖤
I warned you, hehe. This song was a tribute and not a cover. I am happy for the sincerity with which you react to the songs. Thank you, and let's move on.
@Germano Wibe
Thank you for the comment, it was a great Tribute cover, how's that?
Where could we possible move onto next?
Humm.. let's see now.
Thanks for the comments and for watching.
@@BritPopsReact
Okay. I think we've come to terms with Tribute Cover.
Although I like most songs from NW, "Ghost River" and "Wish I Had An Angel" are good examples to keep walking, but obviously you decide.
Once again, your honesty has been a beacon so far, keep it up.
Thanks.
I hope you compared this to the Pulse version of High Hopes. I love the fact they had the circle on the stage
@Taldren
Hello and thank you for the comment.
We actually did the PF original video version before we set out on this one to get an idea of the difference.
Thanks for watching
This was filmed in 2005. Jukka left group 2014 because if insomnia. Not sure how long he suffered from that but i would assume things did went gradually for worse.
@Petri K
Aha, I got the dates wrong, so that you for that information.
Marko Hietala :)
@Allen Nightwish Army
Thank you as always for the great comment and we had plenty of other comments too adding additional information that I went back through the reaction to watch all the parts unfold.
@Esl1999
Yes, we totally agree and said we were not there to compare, but both versions can make you instantly change your mood.
But they Nightwished the $hit out of it
Oh nice, I was waiting for this. Quick prediction, you gonna like it xd I predict at least a 9/10 more likely 10/10. Oh and zero on the Floormeter xd
Well, 9/10 it is xd Looking forward for your next reactions. It is fun to guess your score.
@Chris Cross
You are doing a great job at calling the scores, we may refer to you as our unofficial external source if we ever have a tie break situation.
You called it right and we very much liked this, it was deffo (definitely) "Our cup of tea, just the right amount of Rock and Heavy for our delicate ears.
Where do you think we will be going next? Any thoughts or requests?
@@BritPopsReact I would rly like to know your Opinion on Aurora because I fell in love with her songs lately. But guessing where you go next is quite hard because you tackle a few genres, which i like. I ll check out most. As long as you don't go for Rammstein xd
@Chris Cross
Aha, Brilliant, OK, note to "Brit Pop1" hold back the Rammstein reactions!! we don't want to lose our biggest contributor.
@Chris Cross
Sorry, my bad and my old age memory.
@Ward Hart
That's not a problem at all, we have people that play along and give their scores before they get to ours, it's just for fun and we have absolutely no idea or experience to rate anyone.
It's solely based on our taste and where we would rate on our own personal scale.
We are happy that you enjoy watching our reactions and if you want to skip the last part, we will not be offended.
Come back soon, we will give you plenty of warning when the scoring will take place.😎
Nightwish - PAN - 2020
I have been waiting to see a Brit reaction of their Wembley "My Walden".
@Ile Salmo
Hi, we were kind of advised to follow a list that was provided to us and checking on that:
"My Walden" live at Wembley 2015 (celtic / folk)
That is another 3 songs away.
We will get to that eventually if you can out up with us two long enough.
Thanks for watching
@@BritPopsReact Even though I'm a Finn, I suggest their My Walden Wembley rather than the Finnish Tampere performance, because who wouldn't like to headline at Wembley.
@Ile Salmo
Fair comment, we will get to that one soon.
Stay tuned
Peace out, mates. Hope you are well. 🇬🇧 🇬🇧 🇬🇧 🤘😊🤘
@Neal Turner
Hi and thanks for the nice comment and the background info too.
And the atmosphere was weird as drummer Jukka was not feeling well and during this performance they knew singer Tarja was going to be kicked out right after the show
@Clemens Tremens
Excellent comment and with so much going on too, it turned out amazing, did that also add to it perhaps?
Thanks for watching.
Nightwish called it a tribute, not a Cover
@Christopher Miller
Yup, Brit Pops also called it a Tribute, right at the introduction too.👍
hmmmmm, well, I can't say for sure, just my observations from other videos but I'm not too sure Jukka was having trouble playing this, I've seen him do that movement before and I think he's concentrating and counting on his click track when to come in, jus my opinion.
@doc8645
Hi and thanks for the comment, I did read another comment saying the same, that it was a rumour that was started and it seems to have stuck, but then also a lot of other saying that it was from insomnia and a Migraine.
They dont want to be similar...it is an tribute...btw
Decent, great band but I prefer Floyds version!
@Lord Lockdowns Jukebox
Yup, us too on this one, we did do a reaction to the Floyd version just to compare as we both had not heard that one.
We have a few FP reactions:
ruclips.net/video/iOkQeffccZM/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/36BXs_VkHgw/видео.html
ruclips.net/video/HRr1Q0Gwctc/видео.html
We obviously can't do any of the big ones as we both know them and we are not going to pretend we don't on anything.
See what you think of those and if we got it right back then
I have always been of the opinion that if you are going to do a cover, make it your own, otherwise if you are only going to duplicate the original, what's the point.
@shuriken48
Indeed, they sure "Nightwished" this one.
What i should do now ? Make a cup of tea, buy a gun or move away from EU.
@Toni Somrot
Cup of Tea fixes everything.😬
First?
@Marco Boneff
Did you really watch it all the way through before you posted your comment? 😂
Thanks for watching
@@BritPopsReact of course not! LOL. But I just finished it and liked :)
@Marco Boneff
You did a great job getting in first, there were quite a few others waiting for this to go live.
Thanks for watching and the comments too.
Was a great tribute they did , they all look sad because it might have been the end of Nightwish that night after they sacked their female singer after this concert. Did you spot the jack sparrow doll on Tuomas keyboard?
@Duncan Wyer
You did well to spot that or maybe it was due to our screen being small but I had to go back in and watch it really intently and caught a good view of it at 8:45 to see it clearly.
Nice fun fact and yeah, we can see the resemblance to Jack Sparrow in this video.
Thanks for the comment, we always enjoy a fun fact.
