- Is it Worth it to Scuba Dive on a Live Aboard Dive Boat in Komodo National Park, Indonesia??
Pearl is fine. Her fuel pump was toast and it took Luciano half a day to find the pump and install it. He also reinstalled my fuel filter on the outside of the fuel tank like it was before.
I had always planned to do some more diving on this trip even though I knew I would be leaving the motorcycle. Originally I wanted to get to Raja Ampat but I also wanted to do some scuba diving with my chef friend Dean Harrison. Raja was twice the cost of Komodo plus the 10 hours of travel to the very remote, Raja Ampat. I'll be coming back to Indonesia at least one more time so Dean and I compromised and got on a live aboard dive boat in Komodo. I had already been to Komodo and absolutely loved it and was happy to do it all again!

Killer footage! Wow!
Thanks Nina!
I like the higher resolution for this type of scenic, arty, videos. :-)
@@DanielBengtsson thanks, it was my first try at color grading underwater footage.
The ASEAN region indeed has some of the most beautiful places to visit and many of them are not the typical tourist destinations. Plus, the food there is amazing.
I wasn't familiar with that term I had to look it up. I totally agree, it's been an amazing ride through this area and the food is amazing and vibrant. It makes western food boring.
Yeah ... did a cheap live aboard from Gilli Trawangan to Komodo and back. Best diving I've ever done - I hear Raja Ampat is even better. (Bigger mantas and more sharks in the Maldives though!). Was desperate not to touch the reef but there were no rock anchor points! Just stunning stuff ... some strong current challenges too - literally vertical bubbles!
Thanks for watching! I love the Maldives as well. I'll try to get to raja when I go back to Bali and my motorcycle. I've heard such amazing things.
Excellent drone catch! Awesome video! The underwater scenes are so beautiful! The boat is gorgeous! The night drone footage was hauntingly beautiful. Extraordinary wildlife in and out of the water. Thank you for sharing your trip with us! Love from Vermont
Thanks for saying that! I'm glad you liked seeing the underwater world over here. It really is a special place.
Thank you for the Vermont love. Indonesian love coming your way!
Great video!makes me wanna travel there for sure
Let me know if you do I can give you some advice!
Cool film. Next dive?wakatobi, Bunaken, halmahera, banda, Raja ampat? Happy diving
Unsure. Maybe Raja. I'll be in Australia a bunch this year.
Thank you so much
❤
You're welcome. Not sure what I did?
Video and editing are amazing. 17k+ islands??? Wow. Question, what was the middle device on your bike, a Garmin?
Yeah a Garmin Montana as a backup.
Brennan, awesome video. Just a perfect music bed.
What was that cool dive boat you were on? Man, I would love to see her at sail.
Queenesia is the name of the company, and we always motored everywhere 😃.
I'm glad you liked the video! Definitely not one of my most popular in terms of views.
@@OliveOilandGasoline Huh. I wonder why? I really love the 'Olive Oil' part of the channel, but I've been looking forward to the 'Gasoline' aspect, and I haven't been disappointed.
@@gregkrekelberg4632 thanks for saying that my man! I've been eager to share.
Yes very much
Very much?
Great video! What’s the name of the boat you were on? Looks really nice 🤩
Damn dude, I wish I remembered.
Excellent video quality. You seemed to have a lot of fun. Which dive center did you dive with
Thank you, sir! I don't remember the dive company.
Awesome video
Thanks! It's much appreciated!
Looks awesome!! One of the 2 best dives I ever did was also in Indonesia (Bunaken on top of Sulawesi). Enjoy your adventures out there :)
Thanks Lars! Whale sharks are next!
@@OliveOilandGasoline Fantastic!! Looking forward to the video :)
5:40 full power cinematic 😊
Thanks for noticing! 😆
Great video, name of the boat please? Heading end of April. Cheers
Thanks! The name of the yacht is, M/Y Next Chapter. Steel Towing if you're looking for a tugboat. Tell either one I sent you.
Best video yet. What company did you go with?
Great compliment! Queenesia was who we got the boat through.
@@OliveOilandGasoline what diving license do you need for this?
@@DanielBengtsson basic is fine. The more experience the better.
nice video friend..
Thank you for saying that homie!
Amazing! What camera are you using under water?
Just a GoPro, but you have to fix the colors in an editing app afterwards.
Agree Komodo is better than Bali but Raja ampit (also in Indonesia) is miles better than Komodo, much more diverse and less crowded. I loved Komodo for its mad currents (when current junkies were still a thing before Covid) But Raja ampat really is spectacular diving on a Liveaboard. If you can get to visit the Misool region or even visit Misool eco resort, then you won't be disappointed
I've had Raja in my sights for awhile now. The currents in Komodo are amazing. Some divers love them and others are so shit scared they ruin it for everyone else. You can tell I'm bitter, hahahahaha.
Lets see if I make some time the next time I go back to the bike if I go to Raja.
Seemed that you had a really strong current in the first dive... Scarry... :-)
Strong currents can be really fun if you know they're there.
@@OliveOilandGasolineHow did you get your experience for your first dive with hefty currents? Can you safely do your first dive there, and gain that experience?
@@ttb1513 I wouldn't be doing your first diving there unless you have an experienced dive buddy.
@@OliveOilandGasoline Oops. I was ambiguous. I have about 25 dives, just none in noticeable currents.
@@ttb1513 It's up to you and how confident you are. It's very difficult to say.
Ahh...you like diving, you have to dive in northern indonesia like sulawesi and maluku
I'm definitely going to hit up those places! Thank you for the suggestions!
@@OliveOilandGasoline just a few days ago local tourits who dive there have seen Orcas
@@pustakarileks7404 that's incredible!
Great marine life.
Absolutely! The best I've ever seen.
Dopeness!
It was amazing even the second time.

WAY BETTER THAN BALI LOL
Definitely better than Bali
I have seen this three times now. Really liked the droneshot of the nightdive! 😀🤿
Thanks for saying that, I'm always interested in what people liked to see.
